Malang Sarr

Lampard didn't play Tomori for over a year, it would have been borderline employment abuse to not let him go.

Guehi didn't see a pathway to the first team although with Trevoh's promotion he was probably a bit overzealous in hindsight. He'd have probably won that spot if he stayed for pre season.

Either way those two and Sarr are total separate entities. As sh*t as Sarr is he's happy to be a 5th/6th choice CB and merely exist in the squad, Tomori and Guehi clearly wanted more.

We fans always seem to conclude that any young player we sell demanded a starting role, I have never heard a manager back up that claim. I think it’s more about seeing a clear path into the first team. Like Big Blue has stated; with 3 first team players becoming free agents at the season, it’s poor planning by the club. I think we got caught up in the euphoria of winning the CL and expected those contracts to sort themselves out. It all boils down to not appointing a Sporting Director, as he would have sold at least 1-2 of them and promoted Guehi into the first team.

Tomori had 4 years left on his contract, and we sold him with no clause. Guehi had 2 years left, and probably wouldve extended if he was afforded the sane minutes as Chalobah and Sarr have got. We were forced into selling any of them. In the summer, i wasnt too worried about the centre back situation, but we missed out on Kounde, lost Christiensen on free, Azpi has declined alot, and Rudiger's contract is still in the air.

Maybe the people running the club, shouldve seen this coming?

I don't think it's relevant how many years Tomori had left on his contract at that time. He wanted regular playing time which we couldn't guarantee him because he wasn't good enough. Should we have forced him to stay and spend most of the season on the bench when he knew he could be playing every week for one of the biggest clubs in Italy? He's happy at AC Milan where he's a starter, we got a decent fee for him, so it was the right move for everyone involved.

Same for Guehi. Palace told him he's going to be their starter, so he refused to extend witth us and I can understand why. For every Mason Mount and Reece James there are plenty of Chelsea youngsters that spend years going from one loan to another and have little to no chance of ever making it at Chelsea. Players like Guehi, Lamptey, Livramento etc, are ready to play at PL level now, they don't want to spend years as loanees or polishing Chelsea bench getting a handful of appearances here and there.

As for the rest. Apparently Sevilla tried to f**k us over on Kounde deal and raised the fee despite the verbal agreement after we'd sold Zouma. Christensen agreed an extension in principle early in the season, then switched agents and his new reps stalled on a new deal, which probably means his head was turned by Barca as early as back then and he made a decision to leave on a free at the end of the season. Never ated him, so he could f**k off tomorrow, for all I care. Rudiger has gone from a joke under Lampard to a world class monster under Tuchel, he knows he's in demand as a FA and wants a big contract. We got close right before the whole ownerhip sanctions fiasco but now it's all up in the air until the new owner arrives. Hopefully we'll be able to sort it out because he's become an integral part of the team.

We sold Tomori about a week before we hired Tuchel. Crazy planning.

Who knows whether Guehi wouldve been happy with the 1700, or 1400 minutes Chalobah and Sarr have played? Since he is better than both, he likrly wouldve played more.

We dont have a senior centre back with longer than 12 months on their contract, the only one guaranteed to be here next season is 37. When you consider we have Tomori playing at AC milan, and Guehi making hid England debut, surely the lack of forsight at the yop has to be put into question? Especially considering the deals we got for both players.

Sarr comes into that, because he is part of the equation. If Sarr wasnt at the club, would we have gone into the season with one less centre back?

Its the equivalent of keeping Barkley and selling Gallagher this summer.

Its been the same for many years now, really poor planning, short sighted decisions, that ultimately cost us money and trophiesin the long run.

Hopefully the new owners can see the quality we already have on the books, reinforce where necessary, ship out players that are not good enough, and they build a squad that can compete for the title.

Doubt he plays for us again after that, TT won't be happy.

I don't know. It is quite clear that Sarr is not good enough. If I can see it just from his 1st/2nd games, Tuchel would have known it with just few training session.

Fulham could be interested in signing him. Well according to Dharmesh Sheth.

I had to double take when I read this on twitter, did they watch him at all last season?

Chelsea reportedly blocking Sarrs move to Fulham because we “need replacements” but also at the same time reportedly including Colwill in Brighton talks for Cucurella — make it make sense

I think it wouldn't surprise anybody if this rumor is bs. Even right now Sarr is surplus to requirements here, so it would make zpz sense to block his departure from the clubs pov, with his rumored 120k a week contract until 2025 we should be more than happy if any club would take him even for free so we could save the almost 20m he would get here until the end of his contract.

Why would we need a replacement for a squadplayer who nobody rates at all, while we technically have multiple players who could play the same position he does probably to the same standard or better? Koulibaly is our starter for the LCB position, we have a highly rated youngster in Colwill, Tuchel played Emerson in this position in some matches. plus Chalobah and Ampadu have played this position before on their loans. This would be five options already, even if it isn't the main position of Emerson, Chalobah and Ampadu here, but still they have some experience playing on the leftside of a backthree.

The notion of us blocking a transfer because we need a replacement for an average overpaid squadplayer, who most fans would be happy to see gone, while having solid cover for his position in our squad, seems absolutely bizarre to me. If this occurence really happened, it would be kinda sad and it would surprise me if anybody here would be against him leaving.

Now saying we’ve blocked the move until we buy a replacement CB.

If this is true, I can't understand why we would do that. Sarr was awful by the end of the season, it wouldn't even be a risk losing him even if we don't bring in anybody else. It can already be argued that Colwill and even Ampadu are better CB's than him. Take the chance to get rid now because if we don't, we could be stuck with him.

Fulham are in a need to buy 'PL quality' to survive mode and we need to exploit that. Sarr is not getting games so he should be willing to move, this should be simple ffs.

£120k per week we pay him. Madness

Marina masterclass.

It's crazy to me some people pretend she was some kind of top negotiator when almost every contract she handed out had us paying players 50 to 100K more than they would have earned anywhere else.

Would Sarr really have turned down 110K a week? 100? 90? 80?

Some of the salaries we pay are beyond absurd.
