RIP Ray Wilkins

Chelsea Legend Ray 'Butch' Wilkins just had a heart attack & from the last I heard was in a coma - terrible news before this big derby - Hopefully Butch can win this fight - my thoughts & prayers are with him

mods, I just discovered this wasn't the original thread of the update on Butch Wilkins - can you kindly combine the two threads? - thanks in advance!!!

Gutted. My dad took me to my first ever match when he was our captain. My dad died in January and at his funeral I talked about how my dad and Butch had been responsible for my love of Chelsea. So gutted he has died, my first ever Chelsea hero.

One of my first footballing heroes. Captained us when he was just 18. Sad news that we have lost one of our own at the young age of 61.
RIP Butch.

I am gutted, Ray was Chelsea through and through for the younger ones him playing for Manchester Utd was not such a big deal for us back then it was a bigger club and we were div 2 .... he remained a Chelsea supporter his whole life and was such a gent

when he was out of the game I used to stand next to him down at the old Harlington training ground he used shout encouragement to the lads training the speak Italian to Vialli, Robbie and Franco after the sessions he was such a gent and bring the fans into the discussion. Such passion for the game and the club despite his understated demeanour.

When he came back to the club as assistant manager  I waited out side The Bridge after a game to welcome him back and he was mobbed, he took his time to speak to everyone and had a tear in his eye about the reception he received

RIP Butch Chelsea legend all thoughts to his family a lovely man

Only on sky sports about a week or so ago and looked in decent shape and in good spirits. It's mad what can happen in a week to 10 days. I wasn't born when he was playing, but he's always been supportive of Chelsea and wanting us to do well. I liked him, he seemed a good guy. RIP Ray.
