I saw today Thiago Silva stopping Diaz that tried to outrun him, that hotheaded guy is 12 years younger. So call me when Rudiger does that when he's 37.

He’s our best player and every attack we did, I wanted Mount to start the attack because he always make something happen.

Of course he missed the penalty and I’m gutted but he was pretty much our best player in the game today and I can’t see how much more he could have done. It’s not his fault he has to play with a bunch of useless twats, especially Lukaku. Biggest waste of money ever, even worse than Torres.

Not arguing that Silva isn't playing great at an advanced age. He definitely is. My contention is that Antonio Rudiger has been Chelsea's best player. People can downplay that since he is leaving. Understandable. But dude is pretty damned good.

Unfortunately some of the best players ever have missed in a penalty shootout. The pressure is something that can’t be replicated, score and your a hero,fail and your zero. I’m sure Mason feels bad tonight, there is a reason he was number 7 today! It’s strange but the finishes against Leeds and Madrid were infinitely harder but for those he used instinct. 

Mount is not our best player. 

Imagine the absolute pasting Mount would be getting in here if he wasn’t an academy player. 

I'm glad 95% of fans (of all clubs) are now wise enough to realise it's mindless to blame a player for missing a pen.

Our best player is subjective. He is certainly a contender. So are James, Silva, Kovacic and Kante.

Silva has been our best player this season, his defending has been top drawer. Rudiger has been good too, but Silva for me has been faultless. I can't remember a single mistake from him all season.

Rudiger may be a miss for us, but at the same time, he may not be. I'm almost certain he is a system player at this point. When Conte was here, he played a back 3 and Rudiger was good. Under Sarri, we moved to a back 4 and he's form was very hit and miss. Under Lampard in a back 4, he was horrendous. It was only when Tuchel came in and moved to a back 3 that Rudiger gained some form again.

If we are moving to a back 4 next season, and I hope we do, then I won't miss Rudiger at all because I don't think he can play well in a back 4.

Pre-injury James was probably the best player in the league for me. Since his injury Mount has been our best player, and it's not even close...

On his day still a force of nature. Those days are getting less and less granted.

No blame on the miss, it happens and he is already a legend…BUT it was an awful penalty. Too slow and cocky. 

You can't replicate the pressure of the spot kicks on the training pitch, it plays on the psyche.  Van Basten, Baggio, Cristiano Ronaldo, Beckham, Sheva, JT, Anelka and Pearce are not bad company to be associated with for the dreaded 'walk of shame' after a shootout miss in huge games. Not a great penalty but he will bounce back from this setback.
