Mason Mount

Mendy has just confirmed something that a lot of people has suspected. Mount has been adopted by another manager.  He was Lamp son, Southgate son and now Tuchel son

It's interesting that he's the favourite player by all his managers, but so many fans take a dislike to him. It's clear he's the most talented and hard working player in our squad, hence the adoration by so many top managers. POTY hat trick this season i would imagine.

I honestly don't understand the fan hate. He goes out every match and gives his all for the team, no matter if the position he is asked to play isn't his best. A managers dream...and should be a fans too!

I've noticed the vast majority of the 'hate' comes from the fans from abroad that came with the Sarri bandwagon. The football hipsters don't rate a player unless they fit a role with an Italian sounding name, such as a trequartista or a regista or some bollocks to make them sound like they know what they're on about.

And Americans who hate him because hes infinitely better than Pulisic.

Who hates Mase, he’s as popular as Lamps, just lot of Man luv I reckon, don’t be shy guys…

Funnily enough the majority of people that hate Mase are also the ones that hate Lamps because of his managerial stint here. Weird bunch.

I'll never understand the rationale of these so-called 'fans'.

They aint fans, Separate Lamps the manager, from the absolute best player to play at the bridge maybe ever, (i didn't say footballer) Lamps was a colossus, on the same pedestal the Scousers hold SG, and Kenny D

It's so weird seeing the media love one of our players, but Mount seems to be universally loved. They like him more than they have liked any Chelsea player for as long as I have been a fan. Even Lampard wasn't as loved by the media and he was the perfect example of a footballer young players should look up to.

Maybe this is why he annoys so many people, because he's the poster boy of the club and the media fawn over him. It stinks of jealousy, but there are a lot of jealous people out there.

I find it weird that there are people who dislike him. He's a small town boy who works very hard on the pitch, talent is arguable sure but he has a very clean reputation and isn't even flashy enough to warrant dislikes.

Even his haircut isn't adventurous compared to people his age with his amount of cash

I tend not to look at the main forum much as it’s the same pointless drivel being posted on repeat this time of the season. You may get away with insulting the Mighty City of Portsmouth (and by extension Waterlooville where Mase grew up) for a few hours if you’re lucky.

I think was a case that Munk is use to...less diplomatic...ways the "small town" is referred to than how @Deino put it.

Now had he been more forthright and said something like "given Mason is from a town that does not see daylight since it is forever behind the shadow of the wonderful Southampton, people are used to only a$$holes and smurfs being from there, so the fact Mase is a likeable, genuine fella who is a cracking footballer to boot confuses people immensely".

No doubt Munks radar would have popped quick for that. 😉

Smurfs?  You mean the little blue cartoon characters?  That word must have a totally different meaning in England as opposed to the US.

I must say I'm a bit worried about his profligacy and lack of effectiveness in these games. It's all great scoring hattricks against the likes of Norwich but he needs to offer more than tactical discipline if he wants to really cement his place - especially when playing as one of the front three.

It's been 3 seasons now since Frank consistently started him on the left of the three and other than some great moments it's been largely the same. Too harsh?

Thought he was fantastic yesterday. People need to stop viewing him as a winger and more as an auxiliary midfielder, which is what he is. He's there to link play, drop into midfield as an extra body in defence and help out in attack when he can. Commentators were waxing lyrical about him yesterday.

Harsh ? Yes. Fair ? Probably ... with some mitigation as posted by RIP Mourinho
