Thomas Tuchel (German pronunciation: [ˈtoːmas ˈtʊxl̩, – tuː-];[2] born 29 August 1973) is a German professional football coach and former player. Revered for his tactical knowledge and style of play, Tuchel's coaching career has also been characterized by his fractious relationships with his employers.
January 25, 20215 yr He’s gonna have to go on a hell of run to get top 4 given the competition. We’re 5 points off top 4 but have some big teams ahead of us.

City and Liverpool are shoe ins in my opinion. Utd have a massive lead so can't see us catching them on their form. I can see that last remaining spot being fought out by Everton, Leicester and Spurs with Spurs as long term favourites. As you said an incredible run is need with all of them being very inconsistent over the next 19 games. Its going to be a tough ask. Could be another Champions League win route, who knows.
January 25, 20215 yr Come Along! Come Along! Come Along and sing our song! Thomas Tuchel, He'll give them hell, But he won't be here for long! (To the old song we used to since when we last in Div 2) 😉

I also expect him to get the best out of Werner and Havertz. If he failed any of these then what was the point in sacking Frank? I was asking you about Frank, you said you believe with Lamps we still could get top 4. What made you think that our worst point per game manager under the Roman era could have done to make us end top 4 at the end of the season ? What area of our game give you confidence to say the we can go by Southampton, Aston Villa, Everton,West Ham, Spurs, Liverpool or Leicester? I'm curious because the only positive thing i can think of for the past 2 months is Mason Mount. 3 hours ago, Gol15 said: If not then what's the point of him even coming mid season to be our new manager? Outside of top 4, top 5 is good if he can reach the FA Cup final. But anything less than that and he's also not good enough. If we're going to be that club then so be it... Read above. I just wanna say also that most of the members here that says we should look at Arteta and OGS and the time that they were given are the same that has been calling them sh*ts managers all season long.

That's all speculation since we will never know if Lampard could have turn the season around or not... If he had stayed we would have known and by that he would have lost or kept his job. The point is that Tuchel should finish top 4 now, the board thought that Lampard isn't good enough and that Tuchel is so if he fails I see no reason why wouldn't he get sacked as well...

We had a 9 game run without defeat in the league prior to our poor display in the last month, this bad run could have ended with Lampard in charge but we will never really know that now since he didn't have the chance to make things right. We're still in the FA Cup. In Europe we didn't lose a single game and we qualified for the first knockout round ahead of Sevilla that won the Europa League last season and that went toe to toe with Bayern in the European Super Cup. But what's done is done let's move forward then... Can Tuchel lead us to a top 4 finish? Because if he does, the board will be proven right for sacking Lampard. It will look like a stroke of brilliance, a strong decision at the right time and appointing the right man for the job and so on... But what happens if he fails to finish top 4?
January 26, 20215 yr Has to get top 4, otherwise the decision to sack Frank will be all for nothing. No pressure...
January 26, 20215 yr No surprises that he is German. Frankly this is all about Frank not getting the best out of Havertz and Werner. The most silly thing about it is he is absolutely the wrong fit and not even the right German. He has fallen out with his last two clubs and is a pale shadow of Nagelsmann who is the better candidate. Then there is the fact he doesn't get along with Silva. Hopefully it doesn't kill the integration of our young Englishman but I can't help but think that by the end of the month Havertz will be playing 10 and Mount will be on the bench despite being our PotY so far. Personally I think this is Benitez Mark 2. But if he does occupy the chair I wish him well.
January 26, 20215 yr To be a fly on the wall when him and Marina inevitably start arguing with one another 😆
January 26, 20215 yr Best of luck to Mr Tuchel but he’s being handed a poison (Novichok) chalice. But if he gets us all out of the dumps very quickly I’m sure all of this ‘night of the long knives’ will be forgotten. Will he be at Cobham tomorrow to have a butchers at the squad and a meet and greet. Hope he can get us all off to a winning start. Come on Chelsea! Edited January 26, 20215 yr by General
January 26, 20215 yr If anyone’s interested there’s a lot of good videos and articles about Tuchel in this Twitter thread
January 26, 20215 yr He will ve here the same time as every manager we've had. Season or two. The next stumbling block is the summer. I read an article of him where he fiercely criticised PSG transfers and by that poisoned the relationship with the sporting director who ended up leaving. After that he did the same thing with Leonardo who took over that job. He also got crossed at Dortmund with the board. So he is a very difficult person but the footballing side is good. So I am expecting a strong finish to this season and not holding by breath if things go south in the summer (like with Conte). I am guessing Petr and Marina will have to make breathing exercises a couple of times conversing with him.

It depends how he fails because even if we do fail then it doesn't mean sacking Lampard wasn't the right decision. We have a really difficult task ahead of us with the position we are in but if he can get this team playing consistently better with an identity then it should bode well for next season. We have a very good squad in my opinion, so even if we miss out on top 4, not attracting top players next summer won't be a catastrophe. We need a few under the radar additions, unsung heros if you like, akin to Dave. This squad isn't far off being a complete one. It's the best we've had in years.
