Ziyech is actually earning my respect now and I’m so surprised. I couldn’t stand him a few months ago but he is getting us points, unlike that useless big lump.

I don't mean to try and take credit but ever since I made the post saying I still have hope for him (after the City game) he's aced every game since.

But yea absolutely agree, no sulking or blaming teammates, good old fashioned doing his talking on the pitch.

Sometimes as well as being a good coach you need to be a lucky one

Piss poor up front, led by the impotent Lukaku aided by Havertz and Pulisic who were equally awful

Good job Ziyech at least turned up in patches, nice finish

Defence coped well in difficult conditions, good job Palace are led up front by their own impotent striker

3 points were vital, we got lucky , sooner or later though we will pay for our poor attacking play

So many now slate the manager, Ziyech to save our season blah blah. But this is the same manager that was selecting Ziyech against the wishes of the forum. He saw it. Now everyone sees it. Get my drift?

I do. You are saying Tuchel gets it right half the time.

lucky today - another day of very little created, slow, sideways and predictable play, and an attacker who I genuinely think is the laziest player I have ever seen in a chelsea shirt.

3 points not to be sniffed at, but absolute dross again.

Even Tony Gale on commentary today talking about how slow we play and how we take too many touches. Why is christensen, kante, jorgi, silva etc all taking 5 or 6 touches before moving it on? I don't understand!

I'm really burning with ambition to win the European Conference Cup, the only trophy that keeps eluding us. So we should aim for 6th spot or so and continue our crappy run!

Ahhh, so close....

Another victory for my match-winning pants: I decided to cycle away the second half on my hometrainer in front of the telly, wearing my Chelsea training pants. What an investment that was!

World Club Champions vs Gristle Palace

You just knew after having that cup plastered over our shirts this would not go to plan.

Palace looked a bigger side than us and so players like Pulisic were in trouble in the middle of the park just could not retain the ball.

Palace worked hard too, very hard.

The BBC has us  20 fouls vs Palace's 4 so think something is wrong there, don't doubt we made several fouls and yet several were at least 50/50 and given the other way.

Rudiger's long distance shooting is improving today getting us a first half corner.

Kante's first half chance too with just the keeper to beat, you can't knock him he gets into the spaces no one else can and at least he drew a save.

Second was more scrappy, with any 50-50 ball Palace seemed to be able to double up and come away with it.

Havertz worked really hard, deserved a goal for me yet at the last gave them a freekick in a dangerous position.

Zaha had two shots from dangerous positions and he missed, fortunate a couple of seasons ago they might have been goals.

I was hoping Kova would come on to give us the opportunity to break their defensive lines though did not see a triple sub and RLC as well.

It worked, just.

Straight away we got a ball out to Lukaku who turned and shot, save yet Ziyech scores. Offside check and it is offside, can't comment any further as no replay on my stream.

Finally we crack it with Alonso getting a decent far post cross with Ziyech to meet it first time.

A hard win and though not easy on the eye it was satisfying too as it was a very physical challenge in difficult weather.

It felt like Ziyech was on his last chance to impress a few months back, he had to take it or his career here would have been over. It's great to finally start seeing some quality from the man.

They did not show a replay of the offsides that negated our first goal in the US, which I thought was very weird.  When I saw it in real time, it looked real close, like maybe Rom’s big toe was offsides, but I thought the VAR refs were supposed to allow those super close calls to be onside.

The same here in Germany: no replay. It was pretty close.
