Graham Potter (Now Sacked ) - *Official* New (Now Old) Chelsea Manager

Featured Replies

Regardless of how long Potter is manager, I can see us eventually making a move for Nagelsmann with his strong connections to Vivell. I suppose if it happens sooner rather than later we could have an interesting scenario where our ex-manager faces Bayern's ex-manager in a Champions League semi-final. Although that seems highly unlikely right now.

Fabrizio has reported Bayern are holding on to Nagelsmann like Napoli did with Sarri, and expect significant compensation if he joins a new club any time soon.

We should do the same with Potter but I don't see anyone pay to sign him as their coach.

Todd should just hold his hands up and say, yep, I screwed up completely with the Potter appointment (just look at Potter’s CV to remind yourselves how two half decent seasons at Brighton was never enough to justify him coming to SW6). If it means he is bulleted after the Liverpool game (and frankly how he is still in the job is beyond me), I would happily see us tonked 3 nil by the vermin. The season is over so bring in anyone on a temp basis until May and then hope Todd gets the next appointment right (although I wouldn’t bank on that). He has waltzed in here in arrogant American fashion, sacked everyone in sight, spent a fortune on new players when he didn’t actually need to……and he is now reaping what he has sown. What a circus.

If we appoint Nagglesman, aren’t we facing the same issue as with Potter? A manager that did well with smaller clubs but can’t hack it at a big club?

I keep seeing people say this but I don't see the comparison? If anything Nagglesman's resume is similar to Tuchel before he joined us. He has won a title with a big team that dominates their league just like Tuchel had done with PSG and got sacked by the said team in the middle of the season just like Tuchel. He also has European experience having reached the Champions League semi-final whereas Potter didn't have any European experience. Also its not as if we have a choice, the options available are slim pickings at the moment and I'd rather have him than Pochettino.

That's one of the biggest issues we face. The only teams I see going for Potter if we sack him are bottom-half teams in the league and none of them would be willing to pay out his contract. We are unfortunately going to have to cut losses and pay him off if we sack him.

Call yourself a fan? Wanting us beaten by Liverpool 3v0 is f**king pathetic. Get a grip.

oh, and "arrogant american fashion" ???  Why are xenophobic pricks like you on here?

@Mod Can't we get rid of "fans" like this who want us to lose and make sweeping statements that are xenophobic?

"Xenophobic" 😂

Did he hurt your feelings with that mean comment? 🙄

Don`t get the comparison at all to be honest. Nagelsmann was managing:

Hoffenheim: Managed to get them qualified for the CL, a surprising success considering their squad

RB Leipzig: Leading them to the CL semi-final. DFB-Pokal runner up, second place in Bundesliga

Bayern: Bundesliga Title and Super Cup - overall 71.4% winning rate,

That being said, I don`t know if Nagelsmann is the answer either.

Meanhwhile Graham Potter

Östersund 51% WR

Swansea 41% WR

Brighton 31 % WR

Chelsea total disaster

Yes - Xenophobic. There is no need to comment on nationality in a negative way. "american arrogance" was used without any need.

I am not american - I am a Londoner from England. So no - my feelings were not hurt. Just calling out a dick move by a small childish poster on who openly wants us lose, and makes unnecessary, negative generalisations based on nationality. Would he make a similar comment based on race?

Damn he's still here... I'm not sure how much longer I can watch one of the most expensive (if not most expensive) sides in history play like they do, with yet again no goals, and conceding 2 from minimal chances. Boring, hopeless, and no passion, just like Potter.

Nagelsmann might be the answer or might not. Much better to develop a proper process, develop a short list, have a panel interview the choices and do it properly. Sack Potter after the champs league exit, no one is going to fix things up in a week or even two and keep a caretaker to end of season.

I continue to think Real Madrid are beatable v

What is so special in Enrique? Tiki-taka and nothing more. Spain was more than sh*t under Enrique.

Yeah but Spain is a weird one because they don't have the most talented team, especially given their 2010 side. From what i've read about Enrique he is adaptable and took what Pep did well at Barca and did better. Winning the treble, regardless of the team, is impressive. PSG haven't been able to do it with their team. Hans Flick did, but I'd argue La Liga is tougher than Bundesliga. The season Enrique won the treble, Atletico Madrid who were very strong. Sevilla beat Liverpool to win the Europa League. La Liga was pretty dominant back then. 50 games with 42 wins, which was the best record for any Barcelona manager.

Only thing keeping Boehly from sacking Potter (I think) is the payout and saving face. Unfortunately I just don't think it's tenable any longer. Even the match going fans are frustrated and openly voicing their frustrations. When that happens it's not going to get better. We also have tough fixtures coming up and going by our current form, it does concern me that we will win a game any time soon which is depressing.

I've been a Potter in supporter for ages, but we have a strong team now and key players back from injury and still we aren't scoring against mid table (yes, i know we are currently midtable too) and relegation fodder at home. It's a big worry. I have wanted things to work out, but at this point when you are losing the fans there's no positivity. I don't think this is all on Potter though, I do think we have players capable of scoring goals and they simply can't do it at the moment which is another issue that goes back to Conte and finishing chances. Boehly and Co may not want to sack Potter, but I only see one way this is going atm.

At this point, I don't think it is a case of "can we afford to sack Potter ?", as much as it is one of "can we afford not to ?"

Quite likely the failure to make top 4 is going to cost the club £70m+ of revenue next season, in an already challenged FFP scenario. Top 4 was well within reach this season.

If it then happens again in 23/24 then we'll be in a lot of trouble ...

The one Hail Mary we have right now is that we can still win the Champions League this season. If that goes pear-shaped, then Potter has already fallen through the ice, and it's a question of whether there is any appetite left at the club to pull him out of the water.

Every other manager since Conte managed to finish top 4 and to secure a healthy revenue.

The club loses more by keeping Potter as every day passes by, the players are also wasting their potential and some that are younger are developing bad habits as well. There is not a single argument as to why the club should stick with Potter, cut the losses as soon as possible and move on, he is the worst manager we have ever had.

My choice would be to put a foot on his head to hold him down I'm afraid
