Brentford v Chelsea (PL) Wed 19th Oct 2022 19:30 GMT

Not bad. Always going to be a tough one away to Brentford. With the fixtures and injuries I’m afraid we have to rotate and that is always a risk.

Bright spark for me was Pulisic and Broja. CP looked dangerous and willing to run at players. Broja just needs more minutes on the pitch as sometimes he didn’t seem to be on the same wavelength.

Havertz was awful, getting sick of these performances. RLC hadn’t a great game, not his position, but I don’t think he was near as bad as some are claiming and certainly away ahead to Kai.

Tbh if we're not getting a pen for that push on Chuk there's no way we get it for that handball. Broja was decent but is still raw, thought RLC was decent tbf. My main issue stems from team selection and then the late subs. Pulisic looked good when he came on, but why play Sterling so far away from the goal he needs to be either inside left or right. Potter stop this experiment.

Need to see Chuk and Pulisic start next game along with Mount and either Broja or Aubameyang.

Havertz love you for that special goal and the pen in the club world cup, but you need to work harder in training. With all the talent he possess he should be deciding games not ghosting through them. He needs to bulk up, he needs to work on his dribbling and he needs to find a ruthless streak in front of goal. Ironically it will be when he leaves that he goes RMA, Bayern or wherever and starts scoring worldies and putting in 7+ out of 10s every week.

Kepa what more can I say the redemption arc cotinues, really the side let him down today should really be scoring and getting the 3 points since he did his part.

This game has confirmed to me that RLC is total and utter dogsh*t. I think because he is tall and looks like he has strength he has got away with it all this time? But he can’t actually do anything. No footballing brain, lumbering oaf.

He reminds of that Huddlestone fella that used to play for Spuds. For years people saying he is so skilful and glides across the pitch, he makes it look so slow and effortless......until the penny drops and everyone realises he is actually just bl))dy slow and has little effort because he is actually rubbish.

RLC is poor because he wants to play football at a ponderous tempo that just doesn't exist in the modern game.

Looked brighter towards the end but wasn’t good enough overall. Brentford is a tough place to get a result, Pulisic looked decent when come on, Havertz useless as usual.

He came on against Chelsea development squad

he is player/manager of the United team haha

Kepa - 8 - Made a few good saves and came off his line well to close the space when Brentford got in.

Loftus-Cheek - 5 - Some nice runs forward, but seriously lacking in attack and caught out defensively.

Azpilicueta - 6 - Lost his man for one of Brentford's chances, probably produced the best chance for us of the night that forced the keeper into a good save.

Koulibaly - 5 - Had some nice blocks and decent at clearing the ball, but looks a disaster any time he is 1v1.

Chalobah - 8 - Best defender for us, looked comfortable again today.

Cucurella - 6 - Nothing bad, but nothing great either.

Jorginho - 4 - Poor. Crumbled any time Brentford went near him and couldn't pick out a single good forward ball.

Mount - 5 - Couldn't get into the game.

Gallagher - 5 - Went off injured.

Havertz - 2 - Horrible, pathetic performance from Havertz. Didn't look like he could be bothered all night. Slow to react to everything and I blame him for our lack of chances in the first half, killed everything.

Broja - 7 - Could have got a few shots off earlier, but he was a handful. It's just a shame he had to play alongside a player who's effort levels were nowhere near his own. Shouldn't have been subbed off.

Subs:

Kovacic - 6 - I mix of good and bad, good brining the ball out as usual, but so-so in attack, some over hit passes and some decent.

Pulisic - 7 - Very bright when he came on, should have started ahead of Havertz.

Chuwuemeka - 7 - Similar to Pulisic, lack of experience was evident though.

Sterling - 6 - Tried to make things happen, stop playing him LWB.

Aubameyang - 6 - Ran with the ball well, nobody could create anything for him though.

Will take a point as I feared the worst when I saw that defence and then how we defended at times. We rode our luck.

But we could have nicked it. If Havertz had been hooked earlier and we threw those subs on earlier, we might have got all 3 points.

This team lacks goals but more importantly, we lack creativeness. As has been said many times - Kova and Jorginho just ain't gonna crack it.

But there were positives tonight - Broja, Pulicic and Chuk.

Havertz HAS to be benched. And surprised at the stick RLC is getting. He wasn't brilliant but far off from being our worst performer tonight and at times, carried the ball forward well.

KK, CC - look very average for the money we have spent.

Havertz, KK, CC, RLC  were quite poor.

Kepa, Chalobah, Kova & Pulisic were really good

Rest were quite average.

Think that's about right although I did note Broja appears to have  no left foot which isn't encouraging. Cucurella was better than his last performance which wouldn't have been difficult however Koulibaly looked really iffy again.

Once again though our total lack of grit in the centre of the pitch is a massive issue for us. Jorginho, Kovacic, Cheek and Mount have about as much bite as my gran with her false teeth in the jar, and she's been dead for 20 years.

Havertz is, frankly, a bit of an embarrassment as a footballer.

I thought Broja did very well considering it was his first start too.

RLC had a bad game but a bit harsh how some people talk about him here

Totally agree. He is been playing well in central midfield IMO. But he gets shoe-horned in at RWB because of our circumstances and has to try and do a job he is not made for. Feel sorry for him to be honest. Put Jorginho out there. Let's see how that would work out!

Draw was a fair result.

Kai was awful I thought other than that I think it’s one of those results you have to take after playing 3 away games in a week.

If we can beat Man Utd at the weekend then this turns into a useful point.

Played well in spells and defended well throughout so not a disaster in my opinion.

Jorginho would be able to do exactly what RLC did tonight, pass it to Dave and put up a cross...

And the sweeping statement of the year goes too.

Oh yeah, I forgot, Shed End doctrine says we’re absolutely brilliant and it’s only the referee and injuries and bad luck that we’re in a desperate fight to finish fourth. We actually spent 300 million on awesome players this summer and Havertz is better than Pele because he scored a goal in a final. And Gallagher and RLC are the finest players ever to play the game. There’s absolutely no stopping us - we’re a machine. Haaland must be kicking himself not signing for us.
