Another Winger! - Noni Madueke

Featured Replies

Aside from his pressing instructions off the ball in the first half, he doesn’t pass the eye test as a footballer, look how awkward he moves the ball, something totally off about his footing; legs are too long for starters. He’s still so raw, reminds me a lot of Gervinho, whilst Palmer looks a seasoned pro at the same age.

Coat of varnish away from one of the goals of the season.

Brought back memories of another left footed right winger we got from PSV. Was really unlucky. Lot of talent there, ironically maybe more brittle than Robben lol.

I wonder where he, Palmer, Angelo et al end up when Kendry Paez arrives. They are all very talented, but if Paez is half as good as his hype, they won't get a sniff of that right hand side.

Feet too fast for his brain at times and the ball gets away from him. He tries to look flashy with his dribbling, but he never looks in control of the football.

I've cast my expert scouting eye over his youtube highlights and this is going to be a massive flop.

He looks slow, somewhat clumsy, and what he does in the Dutch league isn't going to work in the PL.

I agree with this guy.

If we make the 2 experienced quality attacking signings we need we're going to have to move players on and for me Noni is top of that list.  think he's comfortably the worst of a very poor set of attacking options.

Always feels harsh to dump a young player so quick but there's 100's of Madueke level prospects every season and I just don't think he's good enough to get game time here with Nkunku coming back and the attacking reinforcements we need.

We've released better players than Noni from the academy and sold others on for cheap so not sure why we'd persist with Noni other than we paid 3x his value for him.

In complete contrast to Angelo Gabriel who looks to have a more refined game.

Issue with Madueke for me is his defensive contribution. Yet again left his runner for the Brentford goal with Disasi picking daisies.

Agree with this. It's sad but it's football reality. I never overly rated Hudson Odoi post his injury, but he was still better than Madueke.  I would try to loan him out in January and try one of countless others that we have.

Hard disagree. Madueke showed more than CHO did in recent times. I have no doubt if Noni went to Leverkusen like CHO he would be one of the best young wingers in the Bundesliga.

We'll have to disagree there. As I said i don't rate CHO but in his first ten starts for Chelsea he was part of a side that won 5 and drew 2 of these 10 games, the three defeats being Arsenal, Liverpool and Everton.

It is hard to compare as CHO than did his achilles in the next match and has never been the same player, but in those first ten games, he showed every bit as much promise as Madueke and as i say, i never overly rated him.

But whether we agree or disagree is moot really. The fact remains that he doesn't offer enough to warrant holding down that position when there are countless others that could replace him. I would argue that Gabriel was better before he even went out on loan. Maatsen would be better in that position if his head was in the right place and he wanted to play for us.

He has one or two flashy moments per game, but rest of the time just offering very little. It's very difficult for a manager to have trust in him, more often that not a manager would trust a player who will contribute over 2/3 of a game.

Injured again.

Not even close to being ready and not what we need, played so little this year and on the small sample size he seems to have regressed. IMO he needs to leave next month even if it’s to the championship and play regularly till the summer and then assess it again.

I wouldn’t be too harsh on him and blame it all on him, Poch is culpable when you look at other “green” players that have made the step up. Brennan Johnson and Doku are two other raw talents but seem to be doing OK at this level. Ange & Pep simplify the game for both players and acknowledge they will make mistakes but it’s all part of the process.

Is this the same manager that get Palmer a called up to England squad?

Where is this guy?

Been in the squad but on the bench every week. Picked up a knock at some point after the Brighton game. Doesn't seem as though Poch rates him all that much. Been hearing he didn't rate him much at Spurs either at the time. For me he had some bright moments towards the end of last season and although still raw, I'd like to see more of what he has to offer before making decision to either loan him out or sell.

You don't rate CHO 😱😱

CHO was probably our only young player that I thought could be a superstar.

CHO's main attribute was his pace. That's what made him prolific in the youth set up and aided his rapid rise. In that environment he would outstrip most defences and therefore have time to execute finishes. But in the non contact, non competitive environment of youth football most teams approach the matches in the same way and rarely go into games to stifle the opposition.

Getting into senior football it became apparent to me early on that CHO was now being set challenges by opposition defences that he hadn't had before and once the injury happened and he lost that pace and confidence it revealed that underneath he was actually a very average player with quite a limited skill set. This seems to have been borne out throughout his senior career at the clubs he has since been involved with.

I agree and also think that Poch doesn't rate him. That said I don't particularly rate him either. Flatters to deceive is an expression that springs to mind.

It's another example that brings the Maatsen situation into focus. I really don't know what Maatsen and his camp want. I think he could easily plat that position, he could easily get ahead of Madueke and be a regular challenger for that role. If Maatsen signed a deal and let his performances guarantee his starting place rather than assurances from the manager then I think Madueke would struggle to get ahead of a number of our players. Sterling, Palmer, and Maatsen could all play that role better.

Difference is they can actually pass a ball and create chances. Not to mention much more developed players.

I always thought Madueke was bought in to sell on for profit after a loan or two, was a bit surprised when he actually played for us but I guess Ziyech phoning it in was probably final straw for Lampard.

Shame we haven't seen more of him to be honest, he looks an exciting player but just needs that refinement which he isn't gonna get sitting on the bench for 90 minutes.

Are you saying that need to take Mudryk minutes? 😂😂😂
