So it's Pochettino...and now officially gone!

He literally had us in the title race that year. He probably thought the team wasn't quite mature enough to actually clinch the title in the end but we did get damn close and there was never an acceptance of defeat in the name of a castle in the air project. So not even remotely similar.

As soon as he came up with that quote he basically told our whole squad that he didn't think they were good enough to clinch the title  ... and lo and behold, we didn't. Very odd behaviour from him. Vastly different circumstances agreed, but he still basically threw in the towel.

Jose would have no chance with this squad ... he'd be telling the higher ups that he can't make any sort of decent omelette because his eggs are either off or still in the chicken :-)

Today we have seen Sky paint the narrative that a “young” Liverpool team won against the odds. They weren’t actually the young ones👇📊

Average age of the teams on the pitch at the end of the game:

Liverpool: 24.09
Chelsea: 22.60

The median age of both sides:
Liverpool: 25
Chelsea: 23

Make of that what you will.

With comments like this and that performance I think Poch wants the sack to get a better pay off.

Maybe he has a clause to go for far less In the summer if we don't make CL.

I'm still wound up about the game, but what's wound me up even more is Poch's constant passing the buck. Injuries, inexperience, the TEAM wanted to go to penalties and even yesterday claiming the officiating is why we got stuffed 4-1 against Liverpool a few weeks ago. He's done a sh*t job since he got here and he's unwilling to accept any blame. He's brought a loser mentality with him and his comments reflect the type of manager he is.

There's a difference between Liverpool using youngsters that have played 2 senior games, and Chelsea youngsters that we've poached for 50-100 million+ each

He's making 'the boys gave everything' seem good in comparison

In terms of points per game Tuchel's Bayern is actually about the same as most of their previous seasons

Leverkusen are currently on course for the best Bundesliga season in history, any Bayern manager would have likely failed

He's actually doing about 10% better in points terms than Nagelsmann did last season. He's already gained more points in 23 games than Nagelsmann did in the 25 he had before he was sacked ...

Main problem, as you say, is that Leverkusen are having an absolutely incredible season.

Rafa came 3rd and won the Europa League, managed to get a 22 goal season out of Fernando Torres

I know he called us plastic but he actually did a decent job here

Benitez's achievements really were nothing special. Most of Torres goals came in the Europa League, did you see the level of opposition we faced? Spart Prague, Steaua Bucarest, Rubin Kazan, Basel and Benfica. Benfica were the only team that should realistically have been able to hurt us, but even then, they weren't exactly anything special. And we struggled to get passed some of these teams. It took a Hazard worldie to get us passed Sparta Prague. The games against Rubin Kazan were poor too.

The Club World Cup loss was a joke. We should never have lost that. Maybe if he had started Demba Ba, Oscar and Azpi and didn't have us playing so conservatively, we would have won it easily. Losing that final with Hazard, Mata, Lampard, etc is just laughable. Same goes with losing the League Cup semi final and the weak performance that saw us knocked out of the FA Cup.

There was also his treatment of Terry. I remember when he kept saying that Terry couldn't play 2 games a week anymore, which was a lie. He just didn't get on with Terry and was giving himself a reason to leave him out of the team. Terry proved him wrong by playing 2 world class seasons under Mourinho, the season where we won title again may even have been his best ever.

There was also the moment where he refused to speak out about Suarez biting Ivanovic.

The guy is still easily my most disliked Chelsea manager. Pochettino may have a losers mentality, but I don't think he's an unlikeable asshole like Benitez was.

We aren't getting anywhere near European places if he stays, boot him out now, even a caretaker coach will do better than this pathetic loser.

If the caretaker coach is someone who is auditioning for a job next season (aka if they do well the board extends their contract) I'll be fine with that but I don't want a manager who the players know isn't going to be there next season because knowing this lot, they are all going to down tools for the rest of the season

I've had a few hours to try and think about this result but that 30 mins of extra time was just an utter shambles.

He needs to go and as soon as possible.

It does not look like he's inspiring this group of players and they are not playing for him.

They are clearly playing for him. Liverpool were outplayed for most of the game. Chelsea created 5 big chances compared to Liverpool's 1 big chance.

The players have got to take some responsibility for a lack of conviction in certain games. There have been games where Chelsea have been fairly beaten, but also many games where the poor finishing has been the difference.

Boehly and co's squad planning has been reckless.

Oh I don't disagree this falls at the feet of the ownership but I just think we've seen nothing from the manager to show us that we're going to grow and become a better a team. I expect to lose at times but I want to see some sort of plan on the pitch.

Predictable lose, and to be honest we don't need any more cup loses to learn anything. Again, not saying it's all Poch's faults. We played well during different stage of the game, but we were playing against a very poor Liverpool team, we have a lot to play for than them, and somehow we still found a way to lose it. At least make it to PK, we could call it an even game and bad luck, meaningless consolation but at least we made them nervous. As it stands, we just lost the best chance of a cup, FA cup is still on but it will be a lot harder. The league is almost pointless again unless we go on a 4-5 game winning run, so basically it's end of Feb and we haven't got much meaningful football left. Could Poch lose his job if we suffer another lose or 2 in the next fortnight? Absolutely, the cup win would have kept him in the job until end of the season, now he's vulnerable as others before him.

But none of them would have thought buying Eric Dier was a good idea.

Left it a few hours before posting. Didn’t want to be very knee jerk, even though I’m annoyed, frustrated and summoning even more of a hatred for Liverpool. That being said…. f**k them, w**kers. We are a quality no 9 away from being a decent side. Anyway…..

Dier transfer does rather smack of a signing to help Kane settle, in the same way that we signed Felipe Luis to help Diego Costa adjust to life in London.

Having said that, Bayern have made a few odd signings in recent seasons, and reading down their squad list it certainly doesn't look anywhere near as impressive as it has in the past. Possibly why their CEO got the boot at the end of 22/23, as well as the Sporting Director ?

Not really much to say. I didn't think we would win, even against Liverpools C team.

Klopp is a manager that breeds winners. His teams play with balls, and I'm sure all those youth team players felt like they were going to come on a do the job.

Pochettino is the opposite, he breeds also rans. We arent even that in the league, as we never were in any sort of race. Mentality from top to bottom is that of a mid table side.

We have literally turned into Brighton, whose best ever season is midtable.

Just expecting this to become the norm now, no faith in the board, no faith in the current project, no faith in Poch, and no faith in the majority of the players.

I saw a post from someone somewhere either here or on twitter. It said Man City hired Barcelona's ex sporting directors, executives etc. We hired Brighton's.....and we continue to do so. My mind boggles at the incompetence.

Poch is very bad at English and being misunderstood again.

His point about playing for pens is that the team were gassed and had no more to give.

It was a reactive plan that happened on the pitch,  not a proactive one planned by Poch.
