I went for McKenna. Those who think he can't make the step up to the premier league are nuts in my opinion. He has worked for Mourhino at Manchester United and some of their other coaches, so with Premier League players. Lots of managers have already seen his talent. I would argue that the Portuguese League standard is a a similar level to the Championship although different because its  stepping stone for south american players. Despite that lots think Amorin is the best.

Every manager in the premier league had to make a start in the premier league. Alex Ferguson had never coached in the Premier League, Postecoglou the same, Arteta had only worked for Guardiola. De Zerbi got the job at Brighton after winning the Ukrainian league, his only piece of silverware.

I expect McKenna to likely have a good career in the premier league. I would bet on him winning it with some club during his career. He just has that kind of track record.

We buy these Brazilan wonder kids because over time for clubs like Porto its proved to be a winning strategy. Identify the best talent and go for it. There is no reason why you can't do that with a manager. You just have to identify the talent.

Rather than a poll over who you think "should" get the job, I'd be interested in an opinion of what skills the next manager should bring? And how do you identify the talented manager?

It does not matter how good the manager is. Arteta finished 8th with Bellerin, holding, Ceballos. Finished 5th with tomiyasu, white, Partey. 2nd with zinchenko, Saliba.

Pepe finished 3rd with Bravo, Sagna, Kolarov. 1st with ederson, walker, delph.

He's never won a trophy though

Whoever comes in, they need to:

- Actually establish an identity of our own. We are not man city, so stop trying to play like them and find an identity that suits our players.

- Oversee an overhaul of the training and medical departments. Too many injuries and fitness issues (including not being fit enough under lamps) over the past few years.

- get a balance between defence and attack. Tuchel stopped conceding goals at the expense of any attacking invention. Lamps (mk1) and Poch both had us scoring but at the expense of a our defense. Lamps was gung ho, poch just couldn't coach the defence. Potter had the best  balance but we couldn't score.

If the new manager can do all of these 3 things, I don't really care who it is.

Not sure that matters to the owners. As long as their manager doesn't question their transfer ins and outs.

I don’t think you read the club statement.

Let's say we hire manager A. He want to play a style. He said I don't think Enzo, mudryk and Caicedo can play my football.

What next?

If we truly want to make the step to the next level, it surely has to be Roberto De Zerbi.

He is the closest thing to Guardiola in world football and the squad is tailor made for him.

All these young players will absolutely love his football and the likes of Palmer, Madueke, Nkunku, Mudryk will hit new heights under him. They will be electric.

Fingers crossed it's RDZ.

Apart from the consistently winning football matches part.

I voted Donald Trump. I like him. He made America great again.

But there again, do we even really need a manager? Can't Toddy boy, Egbahli and the Clearlake posse just get together with the players on a Friday afternoon and decide who is gonna play on Saturday? It may sound radical, even a bit daft. But hey, it's Chelsea! You never know.

Offensively makes the right noises but defensively just doesn't deliver. Hell he can't even organise a decent wall.

My predicted RDZ line up for match day one:

Kepa

Disasi

Fofana

Cucurella

Gusto

Caicedo

Enzo

Chilwell

Palmer

Lukaku

Nkunku

No way he is dropping either Colwill or Murdyk. If he is appointed, it will be to get the best out of Colwill, Murdyk & Caicedo since he knows them well.

I think the owners are trying to find a long term manager because that’s clearly what the squad need.

Poch clearly isn’t the right man, after bottling the cup against Liverpool which I think cost his job.

Let’s hope the owners get the next appointment right, even if it’s McKenna.

Let’s say McKenna becomes the manager and we finish top 4 next season playing well as a team with a solid defence, the future would be looking bright.

If we’re not close to top 4 under the new coach, I’ll be absolutely furious.

You think this season and last have been toxic, then you ain’t seen nothing yet.

These owners don’t seem happy with ANY manager. There’s too many voices and “experts” telling the manager what to do. No wonder Poch got fed up with it all.

Absolutely agree. 2 x Managing Partners from the private equity group and 2 x Sporting Directors.

Too many C*NTS spoil the broth.

💯% this.
No Elite manager would come into this chaos, they are so ignorantly stupid to think that any top class manager would be a “YES” man to them.
This is the reality now, we are only attractive to managers who want a quick ££ and maybe enhance their CV and move on.

Does anyone really think any of the top managers today would touch us, no chance.

They are overestimating their importance.

I get a feeling this team is perfect for Mourinho. The team has talent everywhere. What it lacks is direction and tactics, especially build a strong backbone. Like the one he did the first time.

He wouldn't put up with the kids antics and loss of concentration at times, they'd be hauled off, he'll look around and find he's used all his subs in the first 30 mins. Not a chance JM, Tuchel, Carlo or any other old geezer is getting the job, because they are their own men and won't take sh*t from the likes of Boehly and Co.

Reading an article written by Simon Johnson from 2 years ago when they bought us, about how they turned the Dodgers around. Clearlake are fully committed to winning and built a very successful team in L.A. They were committed to bringing the best baseball players to Dodgers stadium and they did....problem is the EPL is not baseball and this is not the USA.  Whatever their plan is for this club its fallen woefully short so far....guess we'll wait and see what the next manager brings...before being sent down the road.

I don't think Clearlake had anything to do with the Dodgers. That was Boehly and Mark Walter.

I also don't see the hand of Boehly in this latest decision at all. He's fast being sidelined. Eghbali (and Feliciano) calling the shots, with their lackeys Winstanley and Stewart doing their bidding ...

BlueCo is the consortium that has bought Chelsea. 13% each (using their own money) from Boehly, Walter and Hans Joerg Wyss, and 61% from Clearlake (Eghbali & Feliciano) using other people's money.

I don't see Boehly as the bad guy here. Unfair to lump him in with these Clearlake blokes on this occasion ...

I saw this comment and thought it summed it up brilliantly:

“Man City spent half a decade preparing the club for Pep to arrive. They structured everything around what would work for him - facilities, staff, transfers. Liverpool the same; build a team around a coach, build your club around a strong managerial ethos and personality and you will be rewarded.

Chelsea somehow have done the absolute opposite. They keep trying to force managers into their structure. They spend a billion on random young players and then expect a coach to not only turn these raw talents into a competing team, but to do it as some sort of subservient entity - coach our team, build our club, but make sure you don't put any of yourself into it.

There may be method in their madness, but I simply can't see it. Every successful team in history has been shaped by their coach, not in spite of him - backroom staff are there to supplement not to lead.”

Unfortunately for him, he's been the main face of the club so I don't think he can totally distance himself from some of these decisions and if there is a split at the boardroom / ownership level, then we are in a worse mess behind the scenes than what people believe.  Maybe Eghbali and co will buy out Boehly at some point.

For what reason?

Never managed a serious club or won anything serious.

Doesn't seem to have a plan B when his plan A doesn't work.

Been smacked for multiple goals and easy losses more times than i care to think.

Fell out with Bloom, not sure how he isn't going to fall out with Clearlake.

Really not sure what im missing but the idea of RDZ seems better than the likely reality.
