Chelsea vs Brighton and Hove Albion (PL) Saturday 27th September 15:00 GMT

Featured Replies

Playing it short and from the back in the 99th minute, with 10 men and while being 2:1 down

Yeah man the future is bright

This is a circus.. people on this forum defend the directors when I started a thread about them.. what kind of football club construction is this.. we had a Hato, Acheampong, Santos and Estevao all below 20 play majority of the minutes??

Less said about maresca the better .. he was a coward for bringing off Esteaveo and not bringing on garnacho or gittens.. just before we conceded gusto had a chance to break through and he paused .. he was bought on to defend and both goals were conceded from Side and he could have given a penalty away.. took away all are threat and invited pressure on 20 year olds.

He'll be gone soon. He's far too good for this.

I reckon it will boil down to the owners needing to sell one of Fernandez and Palmer, and it will be Palmer because they won't make any money on selling Enzo.

Cole Palmer FC

Pretty much
It's no coincidence our form went down the toilet as soon as Palmer stopped scoring last season

Maresca has to go. He hasn't improved one single player in our entire squad and tactically he is a million miles off. Simply an inept Pep wannabe.

Not even Pep plays Pep football any more. You'd think signing Rory Delap's son would be an indication that the sporting directors have sensed the change in the winds but I guess not...

This is the new Chelsea, get used to it, accept it. We are a development/ feeder club now looking to make profits for the owners. The culture is set from the top. It’s not about winning leagues now or having an experienced squad with depth who is capable of competing. But giving time to youngsters, improving them, adding value and selling. The owners are happy with this model and need a puppet manager who will go along with this. They have their man in Maresca.

Chalobah was starting for Palace though. The defence isn't great, I will give you that, but that doesn't mean we have to play like this. It's inexcusable. The players we had on the pitch today are more than capable of putting this game to bed in that first half, but because of Maresca's tactics, it didn't happen. Brighton, just like United, just like Brentford, they didn't play well, our own mistakes which have been part of our game since the day Maresca took charge, means these teams will always have a chance. We could play the worst team in the league and they would still have a chance because Maresca's football cannot work in English football.

Chalobah doesn't play ahead of Guehi or Lacroix now. He makes mistakes consistently though the game, so does Tosin. They are our experienced pair.

Our own mistakes are a symptom of having poor players, inexperienced players, and poor and inexperienced coach. Its a culmination of all 3.

If we brought in a serious manager, they would want to sell all the goalkeepers and centre backs bar Colwill, and I reckon they would want a ledtvwinger and a top striker still aswell.

So the manager point is a bit moot for me.

He isnt great, but then neither is this project.

i recognised long ago that this is how it's going to be . . you are absolutely correct about the direction of the club at the hands of the owners .It's about time fans realised that the present plan is not designed to return and keep us as an elite club . The transfer activity each and every window is all the evidence you need.

Spot on.

It gets lost in the rhetoric about the contributing incidents without taking a deeper look at the root causes.

Week in week out this idiot sets them up to play for the first 20 minutes then he expects us to control the game through to the end. It complete bo**ocks. When does he ever win the game in 20mins, so we're always going to be under the cosh at some point.

It's suicidal, it's sh*t, and it's eye-watering to suffer watching.

How this club have got the fking audacity to charge £83 a ticket for people to go in the week. Joke club that deserves the mockery they have invited from the media.

Fairly miserable Saturday afternoon.

Thanks Maresca. It really isnt the players. its the system. It isnt working. Its been found out, he cant change it up. Its too restricitve for teh players. get a manager in who isnt afraid. I'd have Poch back tomorrow. He would get this lot scoring. I miss goals. I miss shots from outside the box, through balls, in game decisions that imrpove performances.

Sorry Mr Maresca, this is some of the worst football Ive seen in my lifetime at the bridge. It's a black hole that sucks the enjoyment out of my weekends, the players can play, theyre not allowed to.

What a disgrace. Thanks a lot Andrey!

This is where the problem is. Every player makes mistakes, every player miscontrols the ball now and again. Mbappe, Messi, yes even Nicolas Jackson can have a poor touch now and again.

These players shouldn't be vilified when these occurrences happen, providing they're rare. The vitriol should be reserved for the fking idiot that thinks it is acceptable to set your defensive structure up to such an abysmal standard that one poor touch, or one misplaced Pass and the opposition immediately cash in and punish us.

If we're to blame anyone it's this fking idiot and his appalling classroom tactics that he is sh*t at.

I agree Scott. There's no point In telling fans about our exciting young players and then imposing tactics that virtually stops any pace and creativity. . There's no reason why we have to endure this style of football. Any coach should be capable of implementing a different system . Maresca has f**ked himself and us by insisting this is the ONLY way we will play. He said the same to Leicester fans, now we're seeing it too.

Agreed. I have no problem sacking Maresca but no manager in the world can live with Sanchez as a starting goalkeeper and Chalobah/Tosin as a starting CB duo. The people in charge are the biggest reason for our current struggles. They'll stick with their young age/low wage/good resale value plan no matter what. At some point they'll just change the manager but the issues will remain the same.

WE CANNOT DEFEND.

So in our case, attack is OUR ONLY form of defense; and neither the gk nor our defenders have the skill to play around with the ball at the back - every team we play is just waiting for us to f**k it up but this a-hole of a manager cannot see it.

And his substitutions... f**k me - they just make it f**king worse!

I didn't realise how little pace JP had - he looked great in America!

WTF did he take Neto off again for???

Roll on Xmas - I predict he'll be gone by then - maybe sooner if it carries on like this - his management cost us another 3 points today.

All the youtubers on the payroll ( Benson, Younes and co) was raving about how great maresca was because he scraped 4th, won the farmers league and followed up with winning the CWC (which didnt have the best teams in it) only played one team of note who were knackered

I know people are sick of me saying it i said he would be gone by Christmas, i even said if he lost to Brighton, Benfica and Liverpool he would be sackedin the international break

A lot of people said it was rubbish made up but Rumours were Palmer is sick of Maresca and plenty of other players think him arrogant and want him gone, the owners are aware and after this dont be surprised if they are ready to pull the trigger

I suggested Glasner or Ireola earlier this month, both would be happy to come here as the squad is better then Palace and Bournemouths

IT IS MARESCA WHO IS THE PROBLEM

his football is outdated, we led at HT and came out playing his favourite sideways and backwards crap, is it any wonder that Brighton pushed up and eventually caught us, Enzo passed the drop ball back to Santos when he had a player near him, but the defenders were on the halfway line, poor control and Brighton were in, Trev goes and we knew we would blow it

Just like last week he withdraws Estevao but brings on his lovechild gusto going ultra defensive again, he should have brought on Garnacho or Lavia, then subs off Neto so we had no pace on the pitch, but 3 LBs, once they score we had nowhere to go

Apparently someone called Quilindschy Hartman got an assist for Burnley against Man City. Help us out will you? kwil-IND-shee?

@PloKoon13 your pronunciation is almost correct, I would think it's more like kwee-LIN-shee. His parents are originally from the Dutch Antilles (the island of Curaçao), where parents often make up names by glueing parts of other names together to one new one.

I'm not one for writing long, interesting, intelligent, absorbing analysis of the team and coaching staff sort of post's so I'll just keep mine simple....."we are bollox to watch and we have a PE teacher has our manager ..oh and we have owners/investors/clowns who run this club"....

I agree but it doesn't change the fact that his mistake cost us the game.

Not on here a lot but thought I'd pop in after the game as I always like to defend the manager when calls start for his sacking.

Poundshop Pep though is surely the least ambitious coach we've had and is somehow more interested in trying to sit on a lead if we get it than taking the opportunity while we're on top.

Once behind or down a man his substitutions seem to be "take off the most dangerous or quickest striker and throw on another defender".

Not sure if the owners have the ambition to do anything about it as although they have put a lot of money in, they must see that two or three decent experienced players would not only see us challenging but would help bring the younger players on, they only seem to bring in players young enough that with some improvement will turn a profit.

I preferred the days when we were skint but they all played for the badge and gave everything.

100%. The red card may have been the game changing moment but we had been taking risks with this ridiculous passing around at the back from the start of the game and got away with a few in the first half.

Not to mention that for all our possession in the first half almost all our chances came from set pieces. Apart from the one cross from Reece that led to the goal I cannot think of one chance we created in open play. Same thing against Lincoln in the League Cup. It is rubbish-ball
