May 14, 20179 yr Best defender in Europe imo. Reads the game superbly. Brilliantly one in one. Strong, quick, versatile. The quality I think he has improved over the last 2 seasons is leatership and organisation. He has really taken responsiblity since JT has been phased out. Future captain.
May 14, 20179 yr I'm amazed he hasn't once been in the team of the year, if he was English i guarantee he would have been in it 3 times by now at least. Cahill has had a very good this season, but if you asked anybody who has had the better season, they would say Azpilicueta. The most underrated player in recent times i think. Out of all of our defenders, he is the one i would hate to lose the most.

I agree with you, i think only prime Terry has been better.

May 15, 20179 yr Still some ways to go to say he's better than Carvalho. Carvalho's partnership with JT is arguably the greatest in PL history, rivaled only by Rio-Vidic. Dave does have room for even more growth though, which is scary. Might be the best 7m we've ever spent. That 2012 summer has really proven to be productive for us (Hazard, Dave, Moses, Oscar). Title winning players and world class gems born out of it. Getting Mata, Courtois and Lukaku in 2011 was also brilliant and could have proven to be even better if we'd kept Lukaku. Emenalo seems to only get stick for the Miazga (or whatever his name is), Djilobodjis and Rahmans of this world but he deserves a lot of credit for the successful signings he has made without a manager's directive.

Carvalho and Gallas had more in there locker overall but i reckon Azpi shades them in pure defending yes i believe he is THAT good.
May 15, 20179 yr One of a handful of Premier League players who would walk into any of the Elite clubs in Europe (Maybe with the exception of Juve)
May 16, 20179 yr Hope he plays the full 90 minutes of the final match against Sunderland and achieve a unique record of playing all 38 EPL matches for the full duration. What a player!

What a player! No one else has done that before? That would be an amazing achievement for Cesar, a proof of his consistency. I sure hope it happens!

May 18, 20179 yr Author If I recall from Twitter only three players have played every minute of all 38 PL matches in the title winning team - Pallister, JT & Morgan. Azpi would make it 4. Unless of course that's three OUTFIELD players...? Now watch someone go off and find 20 other examples.
May 18, 20179 yr @Gem is right, I did a bit of digging and came to the same findings. And yeah, that's for outfield players during a title winning season. Couldn't find anything about goalkeepers though, neither about players during a non-title winning season.

June 2, 20179 yr New Barcelona's manager is looking for a RB and it seems like Azpilicueta is target number one. Smart manager, but there is no way, we will lose him.
