He is a very good and vastly underrated player. We will absolutely miss his quality when he is gone. He is also a pro. Doesn't moan or throw tantrums and by all the stories he trains very hard and sets a good example for the younger players.

We might well see a void of experienced players here if Willian and Giroud move on as well.

This is my concern, part of the problem we have though is that with the bringing through of the kids most of our old pro's are very much in the twilight of their careers so will probably move on, meaning we have very few of the "seasoned" pro's but still at their peak to offer the leadership/ mentality side of things

PEDRO CORRECTS REPORTING OF CONTRACT SITUATION AND TALKS ABOUT AIDING CORONAVIRUS RESPONSE IN SPAIN

Our winger, who was born in Tenerife in the Canary Islands and spent his professional career at Barcelona before his move to London in 2015, currently has his foundation working to supply hospitals in several locations with vital equipment.

It is an effort he discussed with Spanish media yesterday which led to an inaccurate translation of an answer he gave about his situation at Chelsea, with him quoted as saying he is ‘terminating’ his contract with the club.

Speaking today to the official Chelsea website, it is a mistranslation Pedro is keen to correct.

‘As many people know, my contract is up in May,’ he says, ‘but I still haven't spoken to the club about whether or not it will be renewed and whether I'll carry on.

‘I've seen loads of messages from Chelsea fans saying goodbye and thanking me for the time I've spent here, which I appreciate, but I'd like to tell all the fans simply that my current contract is coming to an end but I still have to talk to the club.

‘I don't know whether I'll keep playing here or not. That conversation is still to come. But I have not signed for any other club. I belong to Chelsea. I have a contract. My wish is to be able to stay here but obviously we don't know what will happen. I have to speak to the club and let's see what happens.’

I've loved Pedro in his time with us.
Always worked hard for the team, never moans, plays most of the time with a smile on his face, don't hear him being a twat away from football.
All in all a top pro, and i would have him over Willian all day long.
If he goes this summer (which does seem likely) i wish him all the best, and will remember him fondly.

I like your post and think for attitude Pedro beats Willian all day long yet Willian has those moments when he looks the best in the world at going around a player and then once in five (guess) opportunities it comes to something.

I would like to think Pedro has been great with the youngsters yet don't hear any backroom chat.

I will miss him if/when he leaves. Always popped up with an important goal, and as many have said, a great servant to the club. Never controversial in the press or on social media, never complaining, just knuckling down and doing his job. Great smile too, obviously loves playing football.

Simon Johnson from The Athletic reporting that he is off to Roma next season.

Also reporting that he isn't keen on seeing out the season post June 30 so he can get ready for Roma.

Sad if true, he has been a very solid player for us who we really need on the run in. He was criminally underused in the first part of the season. His goals and finishing in particular were badly missed.

I've never been his biggest fan but I won't hesitate to acknowledge his contribution over the past few years. Always gives everything and had scored some vital goals, including some absolute beauties. It's time for him to move on and I wish him well in Rome.

Be a shame to lose him as I think he brings something to the team that no other player has in our squad, ironically its the same thing that made Lampard the amazing goalscorer he was, timing into the box. His runs behind defenders are fantastic and its a shame we never really got used to it, therefore never really got the best out of him. But I fully understand why he wouldnt want to play beyond his contract end, this is why this restart is a shambles.

Don't think he's refusing, just his contract is up and he's not extending it to end the season due to now being a Roma player.  It would have been nice for him to finish the season, but I understand his situation so good luck to him.  I have a feeling Willian we be the same too.

His Roma switch hasn't been confirmed yet, has it?

Don't think so, but I think if he is signing for them or any other club it gives him good reason to not extend his contract with us.

If he's refusing to play i hope we aren't paying him until he goes to Roma.

Thats a very harsh leap mate, hes basically said he wont play beyond his contract end, he didnt mention not playing now.

The usual media murmurings saying he won't play and risk an injury before he moves to Roma. Should have capitalised the 'if' at the start of my comment.

As above, i've seen some Chelsea journo's saying he doesn't want to play and risk an injury before his move.

Fair enough, then, but if his contract's up, it's up.  Perhaps a diplomatic ingrown toenail or case of the sh*ts for a couple of weeks would sort it.

I think, in his time with us, that he's been a wonderful addition to the squad. Always acted as a true professional, played the game as if he enjoyed just being on the pitch with a smile of his face, and contributed some really meaningful goals and assists in clutch moments for the club. He joined us in the twilight of his career, but was always a real pro and I think the club benefitted from having him here. Hope he sees out his career in  good way at Roma and he'll be fondly remembered, at least by me, for his contributions at the club. The lad has won literally every competition in world football at least once, which is how you can tell he's a top top player, cheers Pedro, and thanks for your time at Chelsea!
