Tammy Abraham

Featured Replies

I've been kind of shocked that he hasn't been given any opportunities.  Everyone else seems to get in there a little bit at least to try and prove themselves, but Tammy don't get to sniff the pitch.

Well, he did. In the beginning - and Id argue that he didn't play good. Then he got injured for quite some time and is now back for what..two games? People here are a bit ambitious imho, you can't expect a new coach coming in mid-season to win every game, beautiful at that too, without too much rotation but incorporate the entire squad, possibly the second best after City regarding quality of depth in the whole world, to leave nobody behind.

If Tammy would set the training ground on fire I'd say he's going to get some minutes but if he doesn't and Giroud stays fit he'll be second choice at best for the rest of the season. I doubt he's good enough to be a starting no9 for a team that wants to challenge for the titlenext year but I won't complain if he proves me wrong.

In fairness Drinkwater has went out on loan. Just that he has been total sh*t wherever he goes.

I’d bet my house we’re still paying a large sum of his wages though. Especially when you look at the calibre of club he’s at.

I’m guessing about 80%.

Fully agree. Sensible and level headed post.

I think a lot of fans have very blue tinted specs on because he came through the academy they’re desperate for him to succeed.

In truth he doesn’t do the simple things well & we’re not looking at a player that we think could be a top top player, the basics just aren’t there. He’s not quick, he’s not strong in the air, he doesn’t occupy defenders with clever movement, his control is fairly poor and he doesn’t bring others into play!

Yes he’s scored goals but look at who he’s scored against, correct me if I’m wrong but 1 goal against a traditional top 6 team, and that was arsenal 😂.

If he was playing for another premier league team, would anyone on here be wanting to sign him? Genuine question.

Rumours floating that he’s asked to leave. Would be a real shame and loss if we let him go. I know there’s mixed views on him but he does score goals in PL - something that isn’t always easy to come by

If you lose all games v the top 6 and win all games against the remaining 14, you will end up with 84pts. Most seasons that should be good enough for a top 2 position.

Point is a goal is a goal, I wouldn’t read too much into his inability to score v other Top 6 opponents at 23. He is 4-5 years away from his peak.

Due to be completely ommited from. The match day squad again today.

Tuchel has done a lot of good things since he arrived at the club but the way he's marginalised Abraham and Gilmour has been one of the few black marks against his name for me.

Tammy's goal scoring record is decent and for a team that's struggled for goals him not even getting a fair chance is just bizarre to me.

Doesn't look like Tuchel likes him for whatever reason so I fully expect that he'll leave in the summer.

That's a surprise if he's not in the squad.

Would think something has happened behind the scenes. If he's asked to leave in the summer it's perfectly understandable that Tuchel leaves him out.

Not a fan of Abraham, but he scores goals. There could be something more going on. But maybe he just doesn’t like the type of strikers him and Giroud are. And maybe Tammy knows that we’re in for another striker in the summer.

It's Tuchel decision and his right to do so.

He is still our top scorer in the league despite playing less than everyone in our attack. (Jorginho and Mount with 6 as well )

If he won't play, he will leave definitely and it will be our loss. He is still young, and showed good numbers in the PL with us. We still can't know his full potential but he seems like a very legit PL striker who will give you goals and that's what you need from a striker.

Maybe Tuchel will change his mind, but for now it seems like he's clearly out of the plans and it's pretty disappointing. Can't blame Tuchel, his system works so far and can't complain just because one player (academy player), but I'd rather see Abraham staying with us and getting used more in games.

The BIB was exactly the exact same argument used multiple times for Michy.

Tammy does get you goals, and wherever he ends up he will score goals.

He is a poacher who likes the ball in behind to run on to. With an attack set up to play to his strengths he will score plenty.

I feel bad for him but matches like today are one of the reasons why Werner and Giroud always get nod even if they aren’t scoring. Werner can contribute with his pace and giroud can contribute with his physical presence and hold up play. Tammy doesn’t really have a unique trait to fall back on when he isn’t playing well so it’s easier for a manager to drop him.

He's worked hard to get in the first team squad but given the current circumstances he needs to leave so he can grow as a CF,  learn his craft in a decent league, whether it be here Italy, Spain or Germany.

I disagree that he has marginalised Gilmour. Foden was in a similar situation with Pep not playing him often, instead he was slowly brought into the team. Now look at him. Gilmour was set to go on loan but Tuchel wanted to keep him with the 1st team. I think we will see more of Gilmour next season. Time is on his side, no need to rush him. Training with the 1st team during these big games we are playing in now is better than just sending him out on loan to a random relegation side.

Decision to leave him out was justified yesterday, with Werner getting a cracking assist, that Tammy is unlikely to have got.

Tuchel was very clear in the press conference the other week, Tammy needs to keep his head down, work hard and take his opportunities when they come.

Unfortunately for Tammy, it looks like he is now 4th choice striker, behind a player who is fast but has 2 left feet, a handsome but aging gulloise smoker, and a skeletor lookalike midfielder who is being converted into a number 9. This is a battle that a truly good striker should win and against this group of misfiring misfits, any goal scorer worth their salt should be backing themselves to win back a place in the team in no time at all...

...however....

....instead, we are hearing that Tammy has potentially has asked to leave. If this is true, and Tammy has decided he would prefer to leave rather than fight for his place, then that is his prerogative....but it also says a lot about his character.

Personally, I want players who are willing to fight for their place in the team, players who dig in and try even harder when the going gets tough. I don’t want players who simply look to jump ship without a fight.

As I have said before, Tammys goals/assists have directly improved our EPL points total this season by just 1 point. That is simply not good enough.

Tammy has shone against lower league team, particularly with 4 goals against Barnsley and when scoring against Luton. I am firmly in the camp that our strikers, homegrown or otherwise, need to provide more than he has.

That's the thing, Werner for all his problems has delivered two clutch contributions in recent weeks and these are the type of games Tammy has looked regularly overwhelmed in during his time here.
