Conte had no need to respond to that comment, no other manager did. This is were it all started. May be where it started THIS time but his constant little digs started LONG before that. He was overdue someone giving him some back - now he's got it. You never know, he might learn his lesson.
January 9, 20188 yr It's all incredibly tedious. What the media deem as newsworthy, football fans generally view as boring froth. Its funny how the media are only interested in so called spats amongst managers they view as "box office" As for these so called mind games; total load of crap in my opinion. There was a view a few years back that in order to win silverware you had to be a nasty sod, continually baiting refs, and getting under the skin of opposing managers. Hey presto, Mr nice guy Claudio Ranieri does the business with Leicester. Next year own our Conte triumphs whilst acting like a gentleman. Mario Pochettino's done well at Spurs whilst keeping his head under the parapet. We all know that Jose's a nasty piece of work, and the media of a load of sh*te pedlars looking for headlines- Who gives a monkeys
January 9, 20188 yr For me JM is initiating this and will continue to do so when it suits him and then the media will pounce on Conte when he is unprepared and he will seem clumsy in comparison.
January 9, 20188 yr I'm also inclined to go with the view that Jose is deflecting. It may be the only thing he's still any good at. Our focus should be on beating them at OT as he will be keen on mind games leading up to that game.

A 48 year old man and 54 year old man both father's, grow up the pair of you, not really the types of blokes you would want to meet for a pint when they act like this. Sad thing they have both been managers of the thing that I hold apart from my family closest to my heart. Man up ladies, and keep it zipped the pair of you. It's boring to me, i'm generally not interested in post match / pre match interviews. They are designed for one thing, to bait a coach / player into saying something controversial. I don't know why coach's talking to the press is a requirement, why should they have to speak to these vultures ?
January 10, 20188 yr Love Conte, but i would suggest him that he keeps out of the Jose's childish media outbursts. He lost the plot and he needs a distraction of United and he is using Conte for it. He done it at Chelsea and he is doing it now at United, Antonio be the bigger man focus on the team let him see himself out.

When managers are interviewed on MOTD, the commentator will immediately ask the manager what he thought of the penalty/ sending off, or anything remotely controversial. ( never mind how fantastic the actual game was) The manager then has to play this little game where he disagrees with the refs decision, regardless of the facts. Then Lineker will say " Maybe we should start with the penalty...." The whole coverage has been manufactured to focus on incident/ drama. They seem obsessed with so called "talking points". It's funny that when I'm on the way home after a game, the talking points amongst my mates tends to be a glorious 60 yards pass, or someone having a nightmare - the game in general rather than how the ref did or some other petty sideshow. Ive no doubt that television company's sit down with the Premier League and discuss how they want their product to be shown. Maximum drama and controversy have outrumped the football itself. It's alienating a lot of fans IMO Edited January 10, 20188 yr by Ewell CFC

It's alienating a lot of fans IMO To his credit, Pep stopped that in one interview. Saying something like, 'That was just one incident, aren't you going to ask about the whole match?' There was a moment's silence before they changed tack and got Pep firstly to talk about the whole match. Very interesting for the neutral.
January 10, 20188 yr Did anyone else love the way The Don said "I won't forget".. Delivered like a mafia boss, calm and menacing.
January 10, 20188 yr I'm starting to fall out of love with this guy. Not calling for his head or anything but he's increasingly showing himself to be a reactive and negative manager. Very very cautious and the football is stale and boring. f**k the 3-5-2, we barely commit bodies to the attack anymore. Go. For. It. Stop waiting till late in the 2nd half to make changes. Be more proactive and make decisions at half-time when things are obviously not going well at all. Stop subbing out our best player all the time when we need to win or only have a slim advantage. It's stupid. Hazard has already been rested. Hazard for Bakayoko when we're apparently trying to win is head-scratching. Trying to "keep the result" against that Arsenal team? wow. Even Jose wouldn't have been so negative. Conte needs to be careful and learn from previous Chelsea bosses. The ultra-safe approach isn't going to fly well with Roman particularly when we're not getting the results to go with it.
January 10, 20188 yr i would rather we play with pedro and willian, hazard and morata. not enough firepower going into these games. conte seems to sh*t himself when it comes to cup games, he just doesn't get it right. when we are on form, we are brilliant, but games like tonight happen too often against the bigger teams.
January 11, 20188 yr The substitutions are starting to drive me crazy, and they were already annoying at times last year. Taking Hazard and Morata off for Willian and Batman (Baka was clearly replacing Danny in practical terms once Hazard came off) was just a wierd decision, as was Baka for Danny considering how questionable Baka has been lately. Arsenal were very little threat to us, and we'd been pushing them hard. Taking off our two biggest threats did nothing other than ensure we weren't going to grab a winner, and gave Arsenal a chance to start pushing for their own. That pressure we started seeing from them at the end wasn't an accident, and its far from the first time he's basically handed the opposition a boost in the last 10 minutes by taking Hazard off.
January 11, 20188 yr I was following on 5 live, and they were disappointed that Hazard did not score questioning his decision making taking the chance on the wrong foot. They thought perhaps the calf injury was hampering his game. I often question his subs too and last time I noticed the subs I thought he got it wrong when we brought on Zappa who then crossed for Alonso's winner. I don't think Hazard is right in a front two, though he is superb in a front three. I think Conte has a tricky job, we need defensive acumen and we need creativity and although we have it, it is not sufficient in enough players. Luiz is our best defender for creativity though defensively not the best. Fabregas is our most creative MF though can easily be marked out of the game and then becomes a passenger. Teams are closing down Azpi now to cut out the supply to Morata. It seems a long time since we scored an ordinary yet important goal headed from a corner................ Corners are so frustrating to watch, it’s not even one player but they all seem obsessed with the short corner. The amount of times defenders go forward then they have to have to run back, put a cross in instead of tapping outside the box for Kante to shot from 30 yards.
January 11, 20188 yr #Chelsea have accepted that Antonio Conte will move on in the summer and have already agreed agreed terms with Massimiliano Allegri. [Corriere dello Sport] Thoughts it true? Is he any good?
January 11, 20188 yr I’m not really liking the cautious approach conte is using lately, I love the bloke but it’s getting boring now.I’d rather go all out attack trying to boot down doors, be entertaining and lose rather than be cautious, boring and draw... or still sometimes lose

January 12, 20188 yr Seems he will be going in the summer. Our club really doesn't have any strategy does it?
