Callum Hudson-Odoi

At what point do we mention the elephant in the room.

Since his injury CHO has lost pace. When he burst onto the scene he had blistering pace and was very direct at attacking the box from the channels. Whatever he had that excited us all, including Bayern, has gone. He has nothing like the pace he previously had and therefore he knwos that he is so predictable and can't get past players that he generally doesn't even try. He does a show of it, shuffling, dropping shoulders and then will lay off a sideways or backwards safe 5 yard pass to soemone else. Last night defensivley he was grappling with a spurs player to keep up because he was beign out paced.

I doubt Chelsea will go into the domestic market this season because we are too high profile, but i'll bet i would have to look very far to see a far better player than CHO, in the Championship.

Yes we need to play players in the positions that they are specialist at, yes we need to play players taht are in form, yes we shoudl look to develop a crop of youngsters to blnd in with our seniotr pros, but as previsouly mentioned, thsi is not a proving ground. Its teh EPL, you don't get half a season or a full year of perfromances (cameo oir not) to prove yourself. At this level you have to hit the ground running or else the next one up should be getting a go.

I think confirmaiton of my thoughts of this lad now, comes this mornign when i read that Bayern are interested in Lamptey. Hmm, i wonder what attributes attract them.

Agree with a lot of that and was disappointed having CHO on the left with Giroud in the middle, for me the best converter of crosses in the EPL.

As we have injuries it makes sense to play CHO hoping he can show more though I have doubts he will become a top player yet lets give him a chance in case nerves are a factor.

I also agree his defensive work needs improvement at times his play reminds me of the Jolly Boys' Outing from Fools and Horses, he appears way too casual.

Honestly, Lamptey looked pretty impressive for Brighton. With consistent plays for 2-3 years, I won't be surprised at all if he turns out to be a better RB compared to James.

I would use CHO as a makeweight to get a player like Quincy Promes in a heartbeat. Couldn't care less about flipping resale values. If i bought a Jag it wouldn't be for how much i could sell it on for, it would be for the enjoyment of its performance.

I would have no problem with us replacing CHO with a proven wide player whether they are 28 - 30 or not.

Quincy Promes?! I did not see that coming

I will admit that it's something I've been noticing... Even though I was impressed with him last night he kept taking the option of cutting inside instead of taking the fullback on. I mean, for the most part it worked really well for him. He looks way more comfortable on the left though that's for sure.

Callum is super-popular among Chelsea fans. Anyway in the forums I stroll. People are screaming for Frank's head for playing Mount all the time and never Callum. In some ways I understand it. Mount is performing every time and Frank just publically said Callum isn't training how he wants. For me that is pretty clear. Players train 95% of the time they spend with the manager. The games are 5% of the time. He should realise this and do what the coaches say to him.

He's been excellent in last two outings. Very impressive. Hope this continues. Ziyech and Pulisic are now back so it might be another block for him.

I'm on two CFC forums and no-one is screaming about Mount could it be Twitter..........

To summarise for those that cant be bothered to read the above, CHO has hired a personal trainer at £1500 a month and hired out a football pitch at a non league ground near his home to force his way into the Chelsea starting 11. This includes extra training sessions on his own, additional weights sessions and working on sprints and endurance. Before the season started this was 4 times a week but now down to 2 a week to fit in with the games this season.

Callum's determined to prove he's worthy to play for Chelsea.

Didn't you know Frank only plays Mount over Callum on the wing because he is biased towards British players 🌚

Surely this move to Bayern is just noise.  We are in no position to lose a winger.  I laugh at the story noting Bayern are looking for their fourth winger in the squad.  Why would we loan our third choice winger to do so?

We need to start settling players down to positions.  Werner in the middle.  Kai in mid/central attack.  Pulisic, Ziyech and Cho on the wings.  Mount is central also (in my opinion).  Right now we're creating jacks of all traders and masters of nothing.

Let's hope that doesn't happen.

Sky Germany also with the same news now. Saying there has been breakthrough in talks and that CHO wants the move.

In my mind it's insane to let him go there now.

Agreed well said, thats why i'm not really panicking or really interested in this story. I just cant see how we would allow it to happen. Also makes little sense for Hudson Odoi to leave our bench because he wants to play more. To go Bayern and sit on their bench when they have even more quality in numbers in his position.

I wouldn't surprised if he does go, Bayern have shown a real hard on for him so it's difficult for him not to believe he won't play more there. Also Lamps might still believe he can play CAMs as wingers just because they are talented (Mount/Havertz).

Please No.

Havertz and mount have played there last season and it wasn’t as if until West Brom CHO was performing any good.. the moment CHO gave lamps something he got a start.. do the above barb is strange given both are first choice wingers are injured.. what option did Lamps have got the wing?

He isn’t going to though; the have no depth on the wings and 2 of their 3 wingers (Conman & Sane) are injury prone. They don’t go after young talents if they don’t have a clear plan to integrate them.

I can see it happening, can see us selling him & he will be mad to turn them down.

He's not going, Sane only had 1 bad injury and anyway why did they just buy him if they know he's injury prone?. Plus why would we loan him?.

Pretty much every non-Chelsea friend I have who watches football with me now hates Buffalo Soldier.

I haven't had a chance to sing that at a game yet - I would take it as a personal insult if Hudson-Odoi were to leave before I got that chance.

I wouldn't believe it 2 weeks ago, but he needs to stay. These two guys Ziyech and Pulisic I doubt they will play more than a third of the season. Barkley is gone, RLC is obviously not a serious option, CHO might have a shot at the wing.

Wonder if there is any fire to go with all this smoke around Bayern this time.

Where is CHO truly in Frank's pecking order if everyone is fit? Looks to me he is behind Pulisic, Mount, Havertz and most likely Zyeich too.

Sky quote Frank as saying, along with RLC and Tomori, he has been honest with them and their place in this squad. Makes me wonder if Frank is not against him going then something could happen.

Lost support for the kid last season when he was trying to force through a move, wouldn’t have cared if he left, however if these reports are true it weakens us and leaves us another winger short, would be stupid, but not surprising.
