I just can't see how Mount is a better alternative to CHO on the on the wing.

You need to take of the tinted specs then. Is mount on the wing perfect, NO is he a better option than CHO on recent form, Yes. Lets hope that changes tonight.

Judging by what metric? We've hardly seen CHO in action. And if we go from history, Callum has definitely had better performances on the wing than Mount ever has, that's not even Mount's position.

I agree. Mount has done really well the last year or so but not as a winger. In certain exceptional circumstances it makes sense to play somebody out of position e.g. when Eden Hazard was playing false 9. However I think CHO should have been given a chance on the wing against Liverpool with the players currently unavailable. The fact that he wasn't suggests that Frank is not convinced by him in training. Anyway hopefully he gets his chance tonight and takes it.

Mount has the right attitude which Frank seems to be alluding to with CHO needing to up his level of training. That’s completely speculative mind!

Well it's all speculation really, we don't know for sure. But like I said, what's the point in having a forum if we go strictly by that rule of thinking every time.

But I remember Mourinho doing the same thing at Chelsea and United, kicking out and sidelining quality players and replacing them with work horses. Not saying that's what Lampard is doing, since Lampard does actually like to play attacking football and wants creativity. But I do think his decision to play Mount over Callum smells very Mourinho-ish, and not in a good way.

As a player who prided himself on training/working hard and constantly trying to improve his game because he (self admittedly) lack natural skill I’d suggest players of similar ilk (which Mount seems to be) impress him more.

It could just be that he realises that people from Portsmouth are of superior stock though...

you want stats

2019-20 Prem

Mount

Matches - 38

Goals - 7

Assists - 5

CHO

Matches - 30

Goals - 1

Assists - 5

Stats dont necessarilly mean much but...

Whatever CHO is doing wrong he must stop it because he will miss a huge chance here, once Pulisic and Ziyech are back they will be playing 90 min games.

I don't favor Lampard playing Mount and Havertz so wide, Mount was clearly the best in a central role and Kai is as well. We didn't buy Kai so that he is wasted far wide, both of them are still young and it's stupid to waste them like that. Either we use our players in the best way which would also develop them further, or we will end up looking like an incompetent bunch that ruined some amazing talent in the long run.

Lampard can't have it all, yes Mount has been good but he can't prefer Mount in every game, if CHO doesn't get his chance this season he has no future at the club.

I’m not sure how close he is to the club but I do think he’s a Chelsea fan as he focuses on us quite a bit and he may have even mentioned it before. But it appears from his tweet and Simon’s that it’s not to do with his work in training or in games but something in his personal life?

If Lampard rates him, and he says that his (CHO) issues are off the pitch, then that is 100% on Callum to resolve those issues, whatever they may be. But if the coach tells you what it takes for you to get in the starting XI, I would hope that he is listening doing what he must.

Its a good job mount hasn't been playing on the wing then.

I never got this Lampard lacks natural skill argument.. it was peddled by the media dominated by scouse and Utd media to place scholes and gerrard above him..

Lamps could absolutely pass three ball - had great technique while shooting.. made assists.. could hold the ball..

Scholes had better vision and range but lamps had other “Skills” and so did Gerrard..  and all were gifted in different ways..

It’s something that’s been said by;

Lampard - The man.

Lampard Snr - His father.

Harry Redknapp - his Uncle and manager who gave him his first taste of senior football.

I’m happy to take it as fact at this point.

He was playing there, just not properly, because he isn't a winger.

Hence why people want CHO to play there instead...

Hes not.

In before the over the top criticism of his performance tonight. Young laddie that has barely played of late and is severely lacking in confidence and people are expecting him to play like prime Hazard. By no means a vintage display but he grew in to that game in the second half. The first half he looked stuck in the middle of ‘I better not do anything wrong’ & ‘I need to do something to impress’. Inevitably ending up stuck somewhere in the middle & making sloppy mistakes. He needs a run of games to get his confidence back.

He should be going home tonight with two assists and having won us a penalty.  I’m sure that would have changed the optics on his performance significantly.
