We lack goals from pretty much every position. The wingers don’t contribute enough nor do our midfielders. The top sides have goals from various sources, even if we brought in a goal scoring striker. We still lack goals & creativity from midfield.

 

I think Pulisic will be a good signing but I can totally see why people are apprehensive about it when you look at his output compared to his appearances.

He is only 20. We don't play youngsters. Expect him to get the last 4 minutes against the likes of Brentford in a League cup tie........ and then go out on loan.

Can’t say I am surprised, and adds credibility to something Napoli’s De Laurentis mentioned a little while ago. He said whenever he asked Sarri for his opinion on a potential signing, he never had one. Seems the board got a YES man in who will never kick up a fuss, and happy to work with whatever he is given. 

Big question is who is making this signings since the club as refused to employ a technical director?

Sarri said he knew it was on the cards. That shows that he was allowed an opinion, but his job is to manage the players we have. 

Hilarious seeing people claim they're disgusted, flabbergasted and completely bamboozled about people not being over the moon with this signing. Grow up and realise people have differing opinions. 

Also, can people please stop banging on about shirt sales like that will make any difference to our club. The signing will benefit Nike more than us.

• Maurizio Sarri was asked by club about his opinion of Christian Pulisic last month
• He gave 'positive' response but heard no more about progression of deal 

So basically they asked how he felt about the signing, he said he liked it and they went ahead and arranged it. How the feck do you turn that into him being a yes man who never kicks up a fuss? Considering the lad isn't arriving until next season, why does it matter if Sarri was kept in the loop minute by minute? He's said before he isn't really interested in the transfer side of the business.

Yes shirt sales make money for Nike. But you are naive to think that this doesn't have a knock on effect on revenue and general sponsorship deals for Chelsea as a whole.

This is the American leading player, captain, young hope. We will become the most watched team in the US next season, one of the biggest markets for football and growing. 

When Nike renew, the price will be higher. Any future sponsorship tie in, the price will be higher. It's how it works.

The board is the best in Europe when it comes to signing bench players, our squad has now plenty, but not all got to shine, Pulisic to Chelsea is a great move for him personally, for Dortmund and lastly Chelsea can relax thinking that after older wingers such as Pedro and Willian are done there is Pulisic to take over so everyone is happy with this move, the sponsorship is the least relevant thing.

Least relevant for us maybe, but it is 100% a factor the board take into account. I imagine if he was a 20 year old Croatian, the transfer fee would be quite a bit less. 

The Chelsea Reddit page has specifically put a post up welcoming all our new fans in the last day because of this transfer. The US is a big big market for club revenues and Pulisic is the first US player to look like he will move to a top club.

Generally agree with your sentiment however don’t fans of all clubs get on players backs to an extent?

Fellani regularly gets booed when he comes on as sub I’m told. I’m old enough to remember a certain Trevor Aylott. Half the Shed once were singing “ Aylott Off”, as he stood crestfallen shaking his head.

I’m with you regarding the general  negativity of some fans however. Compare the traffic on this site when we loose rather than win. They’d moan if there was nothing to moan about.

 

 

You're right about other clubs' fans, but I've rarely, if ever, seen someone seriously say "Oh Good" when one of our own was injured, and I suspect not many other clubs' fans would be like that, either.

Regarding the 'benched by Sancho' point. He's not 25, he's 20 years old. How many 20 year olds are bossing it for their team, week-in, week-out (i.e. not spending some time on the bench)?

We don't get every single transfer right (nobody does), but credit to the club for showing some ambition. Isn't that what we all want?

You really are some sort of c**t. I never mentioned anything about Willian’s injury and me being happy about it . I was glad he came off because he’s crap and needed replacing. Ffs you really are pathetic.

Nobody is asking for the club to get every single transfer right. It would be great if we could get even 50% right. I don't have stats, and maybe it subjective, but most of our signings since the summer we bought Fabregas and Costa have been flops. I can count Morata, Giroud, Bakayoko, Drinkwater, Emerson and Zappacosta just off the top of my head. We are spending big money without improving the team, and I don't see how buying a 20 year old bench player is going to change that.  If we're buying youth players, why don't we play our own youth? We seem to be on the verge of losing CHO because of lack of game time, and yet we're going out to buy another youth player (if that's what people want to call him)?

I don't really see why people use the board signing players as a stick to beat us with, it's well known Levy does the same thing and when it's brought up in the general media/pundits world they w**k themselves into a coma about how it's the last proof he is such an amazing CEO.

The only time it will become a problem is if they were signing a player that was the complete opposite of what Sarri wanted in a player (for example Lukaku) or didn't have the quality required to make it at Chelsea, neither is the case for Christian.
