January 30, 20197 yr Personally think we desperately need a director of football who understands the game and understands how we’re looking to play. As good as Marina is at negotiating deals, she’s not really a football person - is she? We’re crying out for someone who understands the game at the highest level.

What player would you put in this game that is a must win, if not your best 11 that should perform and walk over the opposition? Define best 11
January 30, 20197 yr Just now, Dr Gonzo said: Happy to give him time if he shows he can adapt but that looks very unlikely. It's been said no end on here but just to reiterate, kante is the best defensive midfielder on the planet, f**king play him there. I think he has to adapt to some degree and realise the EPL is completely different to Serie A what worked there will not necessarily work here. He seems loathe under any circumstances to commit numbers forward in front of the ball. When the ball eventually makes it into the opposition box there is often only one or two players in there.

Our problem is the same one it has always been our attacking midfield pass side to side, no one runs in, if and when the full backs overlap they deliver poor balls, and we don’t have a good pairing for Kante, same issues, side to side, no danger, no aggression, doesn’t matter if we brought in pep, klopp, whoever, with these players one way or another we will get side to side passing about the box, have done for years now. Building a team round hazard required players that run in behind, not a team of side to side stop and start players, doing what hazard does but not as well. problem is we don't have an attacking midfield and by tonights performance we don't have a defensive one either

I wonder if David Luiz was concussed early on, and hid it / is just trying to fight through it. I've had a game like this when a teammate was concussed and noone knew about it for a bit. I think that knock may have affected him. Leave it out, he cant defend,
January 30, 20197 yr 2 minutes ago, Richard P said: Haven’t seen the game but can’t believe we’ve conceded4 goals in one half. I know we’ve struggled up front, but to concede like this with a back four that we wanted is poor. Players who have been dropped have dodged a bullet. Worse result in premier league since 1996 against dippers away 5-1 Cant sack Sarri yet, he may have a system and tactics but doesn’t have control on the players decisions and movement every second of the game. These players should have the skill and brains to create and defend in every game. Problem is he has no Plan B. If the players are not getting it, switch the formation/tactics during the match. Seems he has a template and makes changes to fit into it.
January 30, 20197 yr Utterly, utterly abysmal. What is Sarri trying to do? Its getting worse every week and nothing is changing. No way we get top 4 this season, and with the transfer ban coming, this could be the beginning of an arsenal style decade. Just so tired of watching the same shot every week.

But then a miracle happen you see, their players scored 2 goals and didn't lose the game in the end. How's that possible when Burnley knew how ManU plays, knew their players and had 2 goal lead? Is it because of the incredible rookie manager Solskaear or however the f**k you spell his name, or is it due to his players that actually care about not being humiliated? I’m not disagreeing that the players have a huge amount of blame for tonight but you can’t honestly hand on heart tell me that you think Sarri is blameless in all this? There’s blame to be shared across the whole club for the way things are at the moment. The players, the manager & particularly the boardroom. As much as I loved our golden generation that apparent link they had directly to Roman always irked me. That should never be the case that players have a link to the senior management effectively bypassing the manager. I don’t think we’ve ever shaken the tag or mentality that players can get the manager sacked if they down tools enough.
January 30, 20197 yr I was too busy typing my rant about the board to notice we actually ended up losing 4-0. Why am I not shocked???

January 30, 20197 yr Sarri’s tactics and system are so predictable it must be easy for managers to play us. Look at the goals conceded mostly all cut backs to a player on the penalty spot. It was the same v Gooners second game in they just didn’t have a striker who could score. The writing has been on the wall since early on. Same line up same pass pass pass and f**k all end product.
January 30, 20197 yr 4 minutes ago, WhiteWall said: Define best 11 IMO the viable argument is RLC that could have started the game instead of Kovacic and maybe Pedro not starting the game because of his poor form in the previous two games. So you're right, my mistake there. Maybe Sarri should be sacked now you got me wondering.
January 30, 20197 yr looks difficult for him now.. he played a big trump with his media mind games.. but you also need to be bold with tactics and selections... only time we seem to play well is when we win the ball up top or go long in his system.. otherwise its a constant endeavor to flick and trick which rarely come off.. and his team never applies enough pressure on the opposition while playing a high line with an incredibly slow DM... everytime the oppostion plays a simple ball down either side our CBs get pulled out and we are in trouble with an overload on the opposite side.. this happens everygame.. for all the writing he doesnt see the obvious.. bye bye Sarri..
January 30, 20197 yr I suspect the manager will not be given the sack after the recent arrival of Higuain, who is completely against the Chelsea model, so you would think they are trying to back the manager. Let's not forget if it wasn't for the shambles of a summer with the way they sacked Conte, leaving Sarri with only 2 weeks before transfer window closing, he may have been able to get in some more players in tune with him rather than some of the jokers we have wearing the shirt at the moment. Tactically he does need to adapt, this slow build up, trying to play in tight spaces against a low block does not work, hence why we've witnessed another 90 minutes without a goal. There is no movement from the front 3, our full backs either deliver crosses that don't beat the first man or into an area completely vacant of Chelsea players. People will slate the defending saying it's embarrassing, but we're asking Luiz and Rudi to essentially start attacks and move the ball to players who do not move. So whilst being positioned on the half way line, with the rest of the side making the pitch big and expansive, leaving yards of space for the counter. the Inevitable occurs, Chelsea grow frustrated, force passes, make mistakes, get countered and then GIVE UP. I don't know the stats but how many times this season have we gone behind and lost? When Sarri's says no leaders, he's basically saying this dressing room has no men with bollocks. Can you imagine JT allowing this to happen, or Lampard, or Drogba, or Essien? The fact Chelsea give up so easily is a result of 1 of 2 things; these players are extremely mentally weak or they do not believe in the managers philosophy, thus think they cannot get back into the game so give up. Extremely frustrating evening and I can't see much changing with these individuals playing.
January 30, 20197 yr Absolutely disgraceful by this lot. A massive clear out was needed a long time ago, Core of the team is rotten and constantly downing tools while getting paid millions to take the piss like today. Sell Hazard in the summer for maximum amount and rebuild the team, apart from Kepa, Rudi, RLC, CHO, Azpi, I wouldn't mind if we sell the rest of them. I always believed that Hazard and the Brazilian gang had too much power at Chelsea. A lot of players only play to get contrast extensions or a better pay. After that they could not give a toss about us or the club. I am not a big fan of Sarri, I don't think he has the qualities for Chelsea or EPL, but whatever manager we bring, the same story happens year after year and the manager is the one who always pays the price. Conte was tough and these pussies didn't like it. I see now he was right, he pushed this group and made them champions because without his winning mentality and drive these soft prima donnas would have never achieved that. Maybe we rushed with Sarri's appointment, but let's start looking at the real problem: the players.
January 30, 20197 yr This isn't just a reaction after a poor performance, I genuinely mean what I'm about to say. I would rather finish mid table with a few of those kids of ours promoted to the first team than continue watching some of these players for us. Ampadu and Loftus-Cheek may be rough around the edges, but at least they have fight in them, you can see on the pitch that they care. Can we honestly say the same about the team we see now week in week out? This team has no fight, they won't try and drag us out of trouble when things get tough, they have shown that 3 times in the last 4 seasons. There is a lot of talent in this team for sure, but there is no desire in them. I have no faith in them pulling us out of a rut, they haven't given me any reason to believe they are capable of it.
January 30, 20197 yr I feel like this team under Sarri has been Benjamin Button, where instead of needing a year to implement the system they actually implemented it well from the get go and then got worse at it. That's also part of the reason I'm being more patient with Sarri. More often than not in situations like this it's more a case of the other team wanting it more than our tactics were properly implemented yet easily beaten. And yes, teams know how we setup and all that, but with the quality of our players it shouldn't matter against the likes of Bournemouth 95 out of 100 times just like everyone and their dog knows how LFC and MCFC setup every week, yet they still perform far more consistently.
