13 would have been mata up until he left in 2014 I thought? The ball doesn’t make it in to the box for us to find out because Willian very rarely - if ever these days, beats the first man. If the majority of his crosses went in to the box and we didn’t score that’s fair enough but they’re usually cleared by the man at the front post. Maybe Willian has regressed at corner taking over the years but I find it extremely hard to believe that he is the best in the entire squad.

The year before Alli went to Spurs he scored 16 goals in 44 games playing in League One, Mason last year scored 11 in 44 playing a division higher. 

If Mount can have a similar impact to Alli's first season at sh*te Hart Lane (10 goals, 9 assists in the league and a further 2 assist's in Europe) that will come in very handy.

If Mount doesn’t turn in to a complete bellend like Alli that’d be good enough for me. 

Honestly boggles my mind How little some of our fans rate Mount, some people on Reddit claiming that he Will never surpass Barkley and some absurd claims like that.

I'll be honest, i rate this Guy above any of our other youth prospects, the amount of talent and technique that this kid has is unmatched by the others IMO, not even by CHO

It’s up to to him to keep improving and working hard, so he doesn’t disappear like others with talent and promise have in recent years.

With Guardiola singing the praises of Foden maybe we are entering an era where technical ability and vision is seen as a higher requisite than brawn. O lot of modern day footballers would never have even got the chance 30 years ago. The game is evolving and maybe Mount is one of the new breed. I see a lot of similarities in his game and Fodens so if Guardiola rates Foden so highly why cant Mount achieve the same

I think players like Mount and Foden with filled out potential would fit in any era of football. I think the key difference is the coaching these guys received compared to previous generations.

England as a nation were well and truly stuck in the dinosaur era until the overhaul with the training ground amoung other things which neatly coincided with these guys being young enough to benefit. Now the country is catching up, the dinosaur managers are of little interest not just in the PL but The Championship aswell (even Stoke are sacking manager's due to style of play) and eventually L1 then L2 then after that part time footy will follow suit. The overhaul at grass roots level is slowly starting to bare fruit.

If those two were 15 years older my question wouldn't be would they be good enough it would be can we trust the coaches? Mount especially would probably have had his expressive creative side coached out of him (due to his willingness to do the dirty work) if the likes of Pulis, Pearce or Big Sam ever got hold of him.

I would argue that Mount has achieved more than Foden so far, a lot of people seem to forget that Mount was on the team of the Season on the Eredivisie on his FIRST year of professional football, and that in a league that had players like De Ligt and De Jong, both of whom were two of the most sought after players this window.

Mount is a special special talent, and he os being criminally underrated by our fan base, and o truly think that he Will stabilish himself as one of the best players in the league over the Season

I like what I’ve seen if mount so far. My small knock is that he tends to fade out as the game goes on. In this particular chelsea season his goal scoring record is a big plus.

That’s a bit far fetched for this season.  Maybe in a few years.

Saw some highlights of the Reading game and he reminded me a bit of a "young Frank".

Arriving late and finishing well.

Apart from Franks outstanding finishing skills his ability to arrive near the box at the right time was not luck. He timed those runs and if he can educate Mason to do the same we may have a Doppelganger on our hands.

I think that's a good thing. It doesn't do these young players any good at all being lauded as the 'next big thing!' and having both tons of pressure put on them, and their egos stroked too early. Let's keep the hype down, and leave them wanting to work hard to prove a point.

Would love to see him crack into the first team properly this season. Honestly, I already have him ahead of Barkley, Bakayoko and Stinkwater.

Jorg/Kante/RLC with Kovacic and Mount in rotation (and getting regular games) would be the best option for me. By the end of the season, he could even potentially become a starter given RLC's injury problems and Kovacic not always playing his best.

Are you 8 years old? These 'wordplay' slurs towards our own players are neither funny nor clever. I keep seeing them and they irritate me to no end

I will hype him until the end of time. Barkley has started well but he has been exactly the same for the last 5 years. Good in patches then average for the next 10 games. I think Mount will grow and grow. 

Frank might have a problem on his hands and it will be a good test of his management this year how he manages our midfielders. 

Kante, Kovacic, Jorginho, Mount, Barkley, RLC. 6 players who have the potential to be first teamers for only 3 positions.

Want to be like city ? got to think like city, no such thing as a first eleven at the top level anymore, the first team should be 18 players that rotate depending on many variables, like...form, fitness, opposition on the day.. etc...

Exactly, we've seen this movie before, who doesn't remember last season's "complete" midfielder Ross Barkley during pre-season, only for him to stink up the place for the rest of the season, the people hyping Barkley up are mad.

Who`s hyping him up? All I see are people being optimistic due to a good pre season.

I think he may be onto something with Mason starting then a fresh Ross coming on around an hour as what happened vs Barcelona and Fontale (well a bit earlier against them but still).

What will be interesting is when RLC comes back to full fitness what happens with him, i feel he may be moved to CM.

But he’s definitely the next Frank Lampard isn’t he. Will break all Franks records you’ll see  

Very excited to see how he goes, given how comfortable RLC and CHO have looked (thankfully Mason doesn't need an acronym) it's not outrageous to think he could pick up some meaningful minutes in the league this year.

Other than Barkley i'm not sure what other player naturally fits into the middle of the three behind the striker, so could be in for a decent role.

I'll be referring to him as MM from now on just to piss you off. 

I think RLC is going to play in that role behind the strikers rather than the double pivot personally, assuming Frank uses 4-2-3-1 this season. 

I think there could be occasions where we see a midfield diamond too so Mount could play in one of the wider positions in that midfield too. 

If Frank didn't intend to give MM a decent amount of minutes I don't think he'd have kept him around this season as we've got plenty of midfield options to choose from... That he's ahead of more experienced players like Drinkwater and Bakayoko (regardless of their on field ability) I think speaks volumes for how much Frank rates him.

Thought he was more than comfortable today. Happy to see him starting week in week out at LM until CHO is back.
