Mason Mount

Potter insisting he plays is like when we insisted Brana keep playing right back even though he was complete gone at that point.

That is not the case though. The problem right now is that we don't have any other alternative.

Mount right now is our "best" available player that can be "secured" on the ball in final 3rd (he has been horrific at this though) because Murdyk is extremely direct, Ziyech keep pumping his Hollywood ball, Havertz is a turnover machine and there is nobody else. Gallagher is even more direct that Mount. Sterling can probably replace Mount but not sure he is 100%.

Main problem is that the team isn't functioning at all and Mount (and many others) have no idea what to do or even how to position themselves on the pitch. Mount and Gallagher were supposed to be midfielders but somehow stayed 20+ yards away from Enzo most of the time leaving him completely stranded. I think they are confused like just about everyone else and I don't think they are being properly coached by the manager at all.

That's a clear issue with coaching and the manager, it all comes down to the manager to get the best out of the players and Mount has been in sleep mode for quite some time now.

Why is Mount basically marking Mudryk on the left side and then not passing to him? Cause both of them are just winging it, they are not playing as a team but just by the ear.

Just a matter of time I say again that the club should appoint Zidane in the future...Oops I did it again

My other concern with Mount is he looks absolutely gassed every game - hands on knees type of stuff.  He struggles over the full 90 mins (form aside) and needs to work on his game management.

Probably trying to hard now and realizes he is actually playing for that contract that was once on the table.

You act as if zidane is chomping at the bit to come here. If Potter gets hit by a bus tomorrow, Zidane is just going to turn us down. And we will end up getting Poch, or that manager in the bundesliga whose name I can't remember.

Poch would be an improvement though.

Leaving Enzo alone is not really a big problem. All you need to do is to invert cucu which is what Potter did in the 2nd half.

For some reason, Potter decided to start the game with his two fb wide and low, his two winger wide. It just make life very difficult for everybody to progress the ball.

What does my head in is how there are so many people out there salivating and watching every move Mount makes, and highlighting every single part of it onto social media. Then you get idiots like this.

Tbh it bothers me abit, I’m a huge fan of Mount and it’s not great seeing him play like this at the moment but he could do without the complete idiots slagging him off 24/7.

What Mount needs to do is sit out a few games, regather his energy and make everyone shut the f*ck up.

Think Poch bottles his tactics moreso the market.

True he's overrated in the sense when managers adjust their game plan he's tripping over himself but he does have a excellent pressing game as shown early on at Spurs.

But his record in the market is beyond hopeless and partly a reason why Spurs are in such a state.

On the other hand if in 1.5 year Potter is gone and the club offers Zidane more than what Spurs offered to Conte, he'll accept.

Why? Zidane isn't chasing money, he's chasing prestige. He wants the France job and that's about it I think.

I just think Mounts a player you either build the team around or he struggles. I think he would have performed very well for Sarri in the Kovacic role, added a little more goal scoring threat in that position. But long term I think for him to have a great rest of his career he hast be used more as an 8. As an attacking player he's not top class whether an attacking mid or forward. As a midfielder he very well could be.

Mount is just off form, people advocating for him to be sold haven't seen him for the last two years. He probably just needs a bit of a rest and maybe a talk with Potter to figure out his role in the team with all these new players.

Those two things are in some kind of a relation though, he was earning a lot in Real Madrid and it should be clear by now that he simply isn't going to get the France job. I understand that it's a big question whether he would even like to be in the PL to begin with, but he'll get the prestige here that's for sure, unless of course he gets offered to become the next PSG manager in which case he'll probably not even think about being in the PL at all.

Chelsea need players like Mason for the long term - he is part of the culture and gives it all for Chelsea.  He has been out of form for quite some time now though, and is compensating by trying even harder which is widening the gap.

His confidence must be low.  He is snatching shots (if he shoots), the pace on his thru balls is off, the timing of playing his passes is off, and he has reverted to always turning his back to the defender and goal we are attacking when receiving the ball, and when doing so his head is always down.

Head up son - in every sense of the phrase!

Looks like Mount is well aware of the current narrative regarding him, he should take himself off social media, go off the grid and focus on his game.
