Mason Mount

Featured Replies

I don't see the Dele Alli comparisons personally. Dele Alli has talent but no work ethic. I don't think a bad work ethic is Mason's problem. The problem is as I said before the system and more specifically the manager. If you want to blast Mount for bad performances then you also have to blast everyone else. I refuse to believe that all of our players are bad.

Please look at Mudryk. First game he is great (Liverpool) then he is terrible because he is being played despite being sick (Fulham). Against Dortmund and West Ham he has been meh. It's like we ruin players. Even Felix was anonymous against Southamption. Fofana has a decent first 45 minutes then gets taken off. Watch how he is going to become worse in the next matches because now his confidence has taken a hit and he must feel confused as to what he actually did wrong.

Sterling played well and scored plenty of goals under Tuchel. Then Potter comes in and plays him as wing-back, totally ruining his form.

Aubameyang has been phased out of the squad prematurely. Potter never gave him a fair chance. Considering we don't really have any decent striker he should at least be used as an impact sub off the bench. Instead Potter plays Mount as a false 9 LOL.

Cucurella was Brighton's player of the year, arrives here and instantly looks horrible. Koulibaly had maybe 2-3 good/decent games since his arrival.

Then we have a number of players that seemed to be in bad form for a while now. Kovacic for example, can't remember the last time he actually had a good game. Gallagher has mostly been poor as well.

Potter is the problem and has to be sacked ASAP in order to avoid a total catastrophe. Boehly has to realize that damage-reduction is the only option at this point. None of our high-profile signings will be content fighting relegation. How are we going to attract players in the summer (we desperately need a striker) when finishing 14th and having a manager in charge no one takes serious? It's painfully obvious Potter never even managed to win over the dressing room. We had a few good games in the CL group stages but that's it.

Love Mason but there's one big issue outside of the field.

Selling him for 50-60m means 50-60m capital gains in the books. Basically offsetting Potter's sacking. I'm sure Boehly has considered this. Same with Gallagher. Selling both means 100 million profit which is insane and relieves a lot of the FFP issues.

So we are focusing on the PL/CL now? Guess they could reopen talks in 3wks.

Focused on avoiding relegation I assume, no joke.

But really loving this rebuild. Spending obscene amounts of money on shiny toys but our actual academy lads are going to leave. And it will not be just Mount either.

I think we might well see Gallagher, Chalobah, Broja and Hudson-Odoi joining Mount in generating cash flow for FFP purposes ...

Reece James will probably be the only one retained from the academy long term. RLC will probably stay until his contract expires due to his huge wages that no other club will match

(I think Hall will be sent out on loan next season).

Good points, think we will keep either Gallagher or Mount, probably Gallagher as he runs his socks off (like Mount used to under Lamps).

Perhaps Mendy will go too.

Could see us getting Rice this time to partner Enzo and Zakaria going back.

Perhaps Azpi going on a free with a no-joining Barca agreement.

I tend to look at players by who plays them. All managers that have had Mount available to them have made Mount a starter and one of the first picks. There’s a reason.

I don’t believe the club know his true worth.

I just think we didn't really have a choice. Compared to our best years we have had a pretty average attacking options in our squad for a long time and he was the best of an average bunch. I really hope that one day he becomes as good as a lot of people on here think he is but I think he's either a squad player for us or a starter for a mid table team. If we want to get back to the days of challenging for the league he won't be a main part of it.

I think you have to ask ourselves a question. Is Mason Mount a player you want to build a team around to win the premier league? In my opinion no, is Mason Mount a good squad player to have? Yes. The problem is I think Mount sees him self as question one and I personally don't think he's the answer. The constant changing of managers and square pegs in round holes has affected his growth, same with Havertz. Could it come back to bite us? Maybe but Mason Mount is not Kevin De Bruyne.

He's not a number 10, he's not a winger. He has the attributes of a number 8 but is he better than Kova on his day? Honestly I'd say no.

Felix has looked so good since he's come here because it's so refreshing to see someone with that talent that seperates them from everyone else. If Mount wants to go I think the club would be sensible to part with him for a decent fee and the same goes for Havertz.

Get Felix in permanently and build a team around him with a number 9 and some real width. No more number central players out wide please.

If he stays or goes, his current form is a handbrake to his ambitions.

He is entering his peak years, his current form doesn't warrant a massive pay rise when you can buy in comparable or better. Only Mason Mount can now decide where he wants to be and his form is key to his decision making, if he continues to be "out of form" then he won't have the choice of clubs to move to, or have the bargaining at the board room table to discuss a bumper contract extension. The club may also choose not to retain his services.

I'd simply say with the club in such bad form, he's exactly the type of player who should be raising his levels.

If he has desires to be club captain then he needs to lead this team now.

If he loves Chelsea, then he will put his body on the line like JT or even Hazard did, we and the board see his passion for the club. (Eden's career finished moving to Real which is another warning to Mount, the grass aint always greener)

If his form carries the club, he's far more likely to get the contract he wants, we get to see him fulfil his ambitions with us and he leads us to more silverware, consequently, he's far more likely to command a move to other top clubs.

Its all in his head and he needs to do all his talking on the pitch between now and the summer.

Felix has been just as bad in more than 50% of his minutes played this season. Half a good game then a red card, a pretty good game then two games of playing for the opposition.

Said it for months already, he's going if Potter stays. Simon Johnson the recent one to basically confirm that.

Get a proper manager in and extending Mount would not be a question, even if we had to do a four or five year contract. Just sh*t timing with a sh*t manager who's made him look like Pereira and now he's going to go to Liverpool and compete for titles with them while we drown.

Apparently it’s the length of the contract that Mount isn’t keen on. He doesn’t want to sign a 6/7 year deal. I kind of don’t blame him, he could end up like Harry Kane - trapped in his current deal. Kane wanted out but had no leverage because of the length of the deal.

tbf there's no real benefit putting him on a 6/7 year deal other than just trapping him. f**ks us if his performances don't improve too.

This is the exact reason why I am worried about the players we have signed. If the majority of them turn out to be duds, then it won't matter who the manager is, we will be stuck with what we have for years.

If Potter is staying, selling Mount is a win-win for everyone involved.

It's that simple, he gets to play for someone that would know how to use his best attributes and Potter gets an extra space where he could try and find a more potent player in the final third.

Maybe it was a bit premature to include him alongside legends like Lampard and Drogba... prefer to see Kante there myself ?

What about ... Zola...Cech... Wise... Hazard ... etc. And where's Chopper Harris ?
