Well to be fair we had a real identity as a tough defensive unit, Jose made the highest contribution to that and then Conte wasn't really looking to play tiki-taka either, he was fine with 30% possession at times.

Sarri changed the whole counter-attacking style which was a big part of our identity and Roman wanted the club to become "attractive" after Conte so we suddenly became something else. Which isn't a bad thing since most big teams simply insist on having the control in matches and having the most possession and so on... But now Roman is gone.

Tuchel obviously has the same set of players so he can't transform us over night and I agree that we're waiting for that player to be the first thing people think of when they mention the club. Most clubs have that, sadly we're missing that big star in attack right now and it's showing but it's only a matter of time when we get someone going.

It's happened under all 5 of our most recent managers. Do people seriously believe that Tuchel is happy seeing the players dominate the ball and then pass back to the halfway line instead of taking a chance to create something? Do you really think he is happy that after dominating one half of football, the next half we come out like somebody has handed the players sleeping pills? Obvisously not, which is why there is a video going around of him shouting at the players and accusing them of sleeping.

I don't know how we break this cycle, but I am convinced that it's an identity issue at this point. Attacking players join this club and they look full of belief and energy, just look at Sterling in the first half and then Cucurella when he came on, but as time goes on, the club seems to suck the life out of them and they get used to playing sleepy football and passing on the responsibilty to somebody else. What makes me believe it's a club issue even more is how often I see it in our youth players that have broken into the team over years. It happened to Tomori, Abraham and Christensen, it happens to Chalobah and it even happens to James and Mount. I see James putting in some absolutely worldy crosses in his early days at the club, and he still pulls them off now and again, but I have noticed of late that he shies away from putting a cross into the box and just plays it backwards. Coaches don't just tell the players to stop doing the things they are best at, they get into the team because of those attributes.

I disagree, we didn't play safe football under Lamp. It was very aggressive with lots of player in the box. 

Tuchel is happy when we recycle the ball a lot. He kept talking about when to "accelerate"  when to slow down. It is what it is. It is the same thing watching city, compare to how city play under Mancini or pellegrini, there is clear heavy emphasis on ball possession under pep.

But even Liverpool now has a lot of ball posession because Klopp realized that with pure counter attacking football you will never win the championship.
Simply watch the CL final Liverpool vs. Real who from the two teams had the ball.

No big team play pure counter attacking football. It make no sense.

This days pool football is actually even "slower" than before because of Thiago. You adapt to player that you have, It is basic football.

Played a perfect game but didn't account for Taylor being a c**t. 

Good job laying it on Conte and the Spuds. 

A near perfect tactical performance, let down by awful officiating and, once again, by the awful finishing from our attackers. Both goals scored by our centre backs.

I was a bit lukewarm about going after Aubameyang before this game but we can’t go into this season as we are.

Get Aubameyang and use Broja, we need someone with a strikers instinct of being in the right area and finishing chances from 4 yards out.

It’s vital we buy someone now, Kai will only chip in with about 5 league goals.

Absolutely spot on! we need a battering ram who knows where the goal is.

Lukaku was supposed to be that but for some reason wasn’t up for the fight, not sure PEA will be either. 

At minute 95 I was about to be so proud of the team. A midfielder and a good goalscorer, maybe a RCB to unleashe James and we'd be set for the season.

Also said if VAR checked the Cucurella hair pull after Anthony missed it and still couldn't call it, then we should all just not bother with VAR.

Hear me out on this but I know we didn’t win when we should because of the ref but I am getting a “ We against everyone” vibe from Tuchel and the interview I just watched from Ruben when he says everyone is angry at the ref.

I want that mentality because a lot of pundits were talking up Spurs and we just slapped them silly which shows we are still way ahead of them. I want a siege mentality!!!
And get us a goal scorer and we are winning a trophy this season. 

Without being too graphic, I believe some will describe what we did to spurs as bitch slapping them.  

With all our squad turmoil and how they had been talked about one would have thought they would massacre us.

Will Aubameyang put in the hard yards though? I don't think he will, and I don't think he can, not at his age. And if he can't, it means we will have the same problem we had with Lukaku and won't be able to play like we did today.
