To think this clown is the reason we can't bring anyone in just makes everything more infuriating.

I'll ask again, how has no one been sacked? The decision to ignore Tchouameni in favor of buying Lukaku + using Saul in the meantime is a sackable offense.

Marina the person responsible for transfers under the RA regime is still gainfully employed by The Club and received a rumoured 25 mill pound bonus for being part of the team facilitating the recent sale. Thats how to reward complete and utter incompetence (she signed among others - Lukaku, Saul, Higuiain, Kepa, Drinky, Zappacosta, Emerson, Pato, Falcao, etc. etc. and an honoree mention for moving on Salah & Debruyne).

Marina negotiates the fees. McLachlan (head scout) recommends the players to the manager and club.

Marina decides. Cech says this:

“I would love to say so, but at our club, there’s only one person that makes things get over the line or done, which is Marina, obviously.

Unfortunately she has done a terrible job and set the club back years.

She gets them over the line but she doesn’t decide who to buy, that’s a scouting issue.

What’s with the sudden hate on Marina? In my eyes she is purely a negotiator and I think she’s done a great job.

It was always going to be difficult to land a top striker and Lukaku was the only available name out there, and he’s just won the league with Inter. Marina did well to get the deal done, it was a very difficult one and needed big money since Haaland and Lewandowski wasn’t available. It’s not her fault that he ended up to be a complete flop, that’s probably more Tuchel’s fault and scouts of course who should have seen that he was still useless.

I think a lot of people don’t really understand what her role is, similar to emenalo when he was here he got a lot of sh*t without a lot of reasoning. It also seems to be a modern football thing for fans to start looking for someone  buying the players/manager to blame for their club failings.

For most of last season I gave this guy a pass, and often said he wasn’t getting the service. Shame on me.

Lost the fans the moment he did that interview, and if the paper reports have an ounce of truth, the sooner he is gone the better. Must be one toxic personality behind the scenes, and best we move on. Potentially our worse ever signing given the fee (and he’s got some competition for that award).

Lukaku has agreed to accept a salary of €7-7.5m compared to his current, about €15m. Today, #Chelsea are asking €10m for the loan, which fell heavily from the initial figure [at least double] demanded not too many days ago. #Inter have proposed €5m. (via @AlfredoPedulla)

Its gone from demanding a €20m loan fee to being offered €5m. This is probably worse than buying him for £97m in the first place.

Personally want Marina gone mainly due to her continued links to Roman, don't need another person at the club sanctioned. McLachlan needs to go because he is incompetent

I think this worry is misplaced. She's not going to get sanctioned as she would have already by now. And if she does, she just leaves. Doesn't really affect the club.

He's costing us 35m a year at the moment with amortised transfer and wages.

If we lose the wage bill and get up to, let's say 10m fee, then he's costing us 10m a year. Or saving us 25m a year on what we are currently lumbered with.

In my eyes, that's probably as good as we are going to get and if he piles on the goals next season we might still get a decent fee for him from someone.

The 10m fee must also include writing off the money we still owe Inter on the transfer?

So we paid Inter 97,5m for him so they don't have him in their squad for last season. Now they get him back for a fraction of it only to bang in 30 goals and delivering them at least Champions League spot if not Scudetto....

Recruitment is hard but it is not this hard.

And don't forget, £28 million we spent on agent fees last summer. And we only signed Lukaku permanently so go figure.

This club have probably spent upwards of £140 million already on Lukaku. And here we are posturing for a measly £10 million loan fee.

Absolute shambles.

Agreed. Since Marina is the one doing negotiations this must be one of the worse negotiations in football history along with Pogba so i don't get the fact that people say she is a good Negotiator.

The Italians sent a hot 20 year old Italian boytoy with an ear piece as the negotiator and she lost the plot. Probably did the same with Woodward for Pogba.

I agree with the change of scenery sentiment myself, It is weird all romans personal picks and colleagues sibneft cough are still at the club, Cech I can understand but all the rest inc scouting should be shaken up IMO.

ESP if they're planning to make profits, Marina and co wouldn't get the job if they applied with their records, Lets be honest

Onwards and upwards fingers crossed they do the biz in the next 6-8 weeks

Marina is one of the most respected football directors in the game. She's going to walk into any job she wants next.

The disrespect some of our fans give her is stunning and born from ignorance.

It is strange. Thought it was a running joke before but seems fans are serious. Oh well  there is always a scapegoat; Peter Kenyon,  Roman, Emenalo, now Marina

I blame Kenyon for the Marina hate.

Imo she deserves some blame not because she pick who to sign but in the end of the day she is the boss, when your subordinate make mistake, the boss should also take some of the blame. For example she could have replaced whoever in charge with the recruitment.

What has she done that's particularly impressive? Genuine question.

One can disagree about how much influence she's got on transfers. Personally I believe she had the last word on everything (her and Roman that is). But one thing that isn't really debatable is that she's been in charge of running this club since Ron Gourlay stepped down.
And since Emenalo resigned in 2017 she also absorbed the role of sporting director into hers.

Given that I think the running of this club have been complete shambles since 16/17 I think she needs to take most of the responsebility for that. Our wage-structure is a farce, we've been shambles in the transfer market, we are currently left with a very thin and poor squad, we haven't competed for a single Premier League title for the last six years, fallen out with multiple managers (Lampard, Conte) and you can go on and on. The only saving grace for a club of our stature the last 5-6 years is Tuchels miracle in the CL but it's been terrible.
