Only United would be daft enough to offer a 2 year contract to a guy who is 37 in February.

But Ronaldo is not a normal 36 year old. Certainly wouldn't call it daft business.

Sure, at 36 his best days are well behind him but signing him improves their squad and team. It's another option to cause opponents problems and he will be a good mix with the younger players, Greenwood, Sancho and Rashford.

Think they could finish runners-up. 10 points behind us............................................

I can't see how signing Ronaldo is a good idea. Man Utd will have two old guys past their best up top. Man Utd fans wanted a defensive midfielder, but instead they get another attacking player lol.

Have to laugh I think buying Ronaldo will destroy Utd's season, his ego is massive yet he has slowed down so much and Utd's attacking game is built on pace.

I thought Cavani was a good buy yet the mind boggles at what he thinks of it.

Juve fans are glad to be rid of him, this appears a negative purchase to stop him going to City.

United still need a defensive midfielder though, they already score a ton of goals and now you have to keep eveyrone happy with playing time, also you slow down the progress of Greenwood, yes its great that he can learn from Ronaldo but i dont see him as a mentor figure type guy but maybe im wrong...

Ronaldo is still class but that midfield though... Fred, McTominay, Matic haha, good luck with that. Plus the lazy Pogba who won't track back and Ronaldo who naturally does not track back. Their wingers must step up their work rate game lol. They will score plenty but that midfield is going to get run through week in, week out.

Didn’t see this coming. Would have been a lot more dangerous at city, not that bothered by him going back to Utd as he’s not what they need.

He might be 36 but he is super fit and probably fitter than most players 10 years younger. Apart from his goals he doesn't offer much else in general open play.  His signing though has tipped the balance in Utd's favour.  Utd will still be beatable especially against any team in the top 6.  They might beat up the minnows, bottom feeders and mid table teams like Arsenal 😁it will be a different proposition against the likes of Liverpool, us and City and even perhaps West Ham and even Spurs as the Hobbit can't manage worth sh*t...

No where for Ole to hide if he doesn't deliver the title this year. No doubt Ronaldo is a world class player with 20-30 goals in him, but for me it's more of a fairy tale story and a commercial win rather than what they really want, and are they really going to accommodate Haaland next season with what they already got? Against  top 4 teams, they have to leave out couple or three of the Rashford, Ronaldo, Martial, Cavani, Greenwoood, Sancho on the bench, or not even in the team.

Interesting signings by United this season. They've strengthed the parts of the team that were already strong (attack and depth in defence) but have sorely neglected the area they are weakest in (defensive midfield, goalkeeper). I think it's actually a smart gambit on the part of Ole, as he's basically working within his strengths and making them even stronger. A squad with Fernandes, Ronaldo, Pogba, Rashford and Sancho basically has a one penalty goal advantage to start every game.

OIe's team don't really need to control the ball in midfield so much as get the ball early to their forwards, and keep shots away from De Gea. They've got a squad that does that very, very well on paper.

IMO if you don’t want to have control in the midfield, you need to protect your backline otherwise you will allow your defense being attacked too much. But that is just a theory, maybe Varane + Maguire, two very2 good cb, can handle constant threat, we shall see.

United imo is the most interesting team tactically, the pieces are a bit everywhere and they sort of don't  fit. It is similar to what happen to us under Lamp. Tuchel fix it by make us becoming more organized and more importantly stop trying to fit the pieces. Rather than trying to find a way to fit puli, ziyech, werner, Havertz together, only two of them will play or right now after Lukaku only one.

Has he really slowed down though?

A good strike force cures all ills. Leicester were absolutely atrocious by numbers last season and yet the goals from Iheanacho and Vardy nearly got them a Champions' League spot. I just think that a lot of the criticism is underestimating how good Ronaldo is, given that he scored more goals than our anointed new striker in a much poorer team.

Their pieces are actually a much neater fit than what Lampard/Tuchel had to work with. Havertz, Mount, Pulisic, Werner, Hudson-Odoi and Ziyech are all very different players, and a system that works for some of them will not work optimally for the others. In contrast, Man U have Rashford/Greenwood/Martial/Sancho (goalscoring, wide players), Cavani/Ronaldo (centre forwards) and Fernandes/Mata (goalscoring creative mids). They lack tactical diversity, but that's not necessarily a bad thing for a manager like Solksjaer.  They will almost always be able to score first and sit back for the counter-attack throughout the game.

Injury is their biggest enemy. Unlike their attackers, they have no depth in midfield or defence and an injury to Maguire/Varane or Pogba would severely cripple them as their understudies are nowhere near as competent.

PSG  is proof that having individuals doesn't necessarily mean you can win trophies. Look at Chelsea. Last season we had no big names, but we built a team cohesion and went on to win the CL against the odds. Ahead of PSG. Liverpool the same, they built a team.
