Think that harsh on Sarr. Thought overall he did well and is very quick but his height (or lack of it) may be an issue.
October 16, 20214 yr Tuchel needs to have the midfielders and attackers in a room and discuss our attacking patterns. Lukaku is becoming ineffective and Timo can't thrive solo. Havertz and Mount was ineffective again. How did we let Brentford to have 10 shots on goal for 20+ minutes? Thought Jorginho should have come on to settle the nerves and slow the game down. That being said. Top of the league baby!
October 16, 20214 yr sh*te performance,3pts,top of the league and the whisky and ale are tasting good this evening...KTBFFH💙
October 16, 20214 yr Our lack of height really was killing us .. the fact that Azpi/Chilly also struggled to stop crosses ..

Yeah I reckon Jorginho should have come on for a tiring Ruben…but presumably Tuchel was worried about losing ruben’s height in the box.

No lap of honour for those twats tonight. Other than that Toney bloke who tried to cheat with his constant falling and complaining, Brentford have played us out of their park fair and square. No Burnley tactics of kicking players and just hoofing the ball forward, they pressed us really high up and with intensity in the last 30 mins of the second half, won first and second balls because they were in better positions than our players, and put so many players inside the box that we struggled. They were no mugs, we just lacked their intensity, which is something that happens in a lot of games against mid table table teams, and we faded in the second half. We could have put to bed the match in the beginning of the second half, we didn’t and Brentford then took the initiative. It happens, we were lucky to get the three points, but that’s how top teams win titles, winning even when they play crap.

Was thinking the same after about 70 mins. Looked as if he was tiring although he did have a few nice touches in the final 20 we had lost control.

But we really are looking like completely amateurs in attack these days and it's massively frustrating. In the end Mendy, Loftus Cheek, Christensen and Sarr can walk away proud with their performance. Everyone else more than a bit sh*t really. plus kante

October 16, 20214 yr The same reasons some are being negative actually provide reasons to also be positive. We are top of the league despite not being good enough in attack, getting best out of Lukaku, Lukaku getting the best out of himself, form of mount, Havertz etc Man City and liverpool are playing as well as they can and are still behind us. We have more gears to go.
October 16, 20214 yr The classic game of 2 halves. First half we were dominant but often our poor final ball let us down. I thought Rom was a bit unfortunate with this disallowed goal too. Yes he was offside but only because the defender pushed him into the offside position right before the cross. Despite scoring at the perfect time I was worried we would see a different Brentford team in the second half and so it proved to be, especially in the last 30 minutes. I'm not quite sure how we managed to hold on but a combination of luck, Mendy's brilliance, and some decent performances from Sarr and Chalobah helped us to 3 points. I know some were talking about Jorginho for Ruben late on. Yes Ruben was tiring but this was not a game for Jorginho. Brentford were bombarding our box with crosses and long throws so we needed that height today. I actually thought Havertz was the wrong sub for a frenetic game like this too. Ross Barkley might have been a better choice. Either way though we got away with 3 points and our young defenders coped well under the pressure.

No Rudiger or Thiago and our young defenders didn't let us down.

He did okay, but im struggling to give much credit to a defensive performance, that shouldve shipped 2 or 3. Ive seen him play 4 times now, and his ability, doesnt make up for his lack of height. Harsh but true. He has no future here for me, and im sure if we got a decent offer, he wouldve been loaned out, but he wasnt good at Porto last season either. Colwill is twice the player, let alone Tomori and Guehi. The win for me was down to luck more than judgement today imo, and I thought the overall lack of command in that back 3, was not good enough, and would be exposed week in week out. Thankfully Sarr and Chalobah got away with it tonight, Christiensen I thought was pretty good, and Toney actually started giving him a wide birth as he was hetting much change out of him. Anyway massive win, because Brentford look like this seasons Sheffield United, and will continue to take points from teams around us, at least before they get found out as the season progresses.
