Mason Mount

Voting for POTY opened today. After much soul searching - about 2 seconds during which I spared a thought for Thiago Silva - I cast my vote for Mason.

I was just about to post complaining that it's far too early in the season to even begin thinking about a "POTY", and then I remembered it's May already. Covid has really warped my perception of time over the past 12 months.

I have the same problem, the weeks and months just fade into a blur. I only realized last week the season ends this month and there are not many matches left.

From what I saw not one word was mentioned of Mount when TT was asked about match fitness. Looks like Mason should be fit for tomorrow. Big boost just a shame Kova probably won't but when you have a game against the Champions and the match on Sunday may in fact decide the title we could do with one of our best players.

This weather is not helping either, I'm not sure I can tell wether it is February or May...

Agreed on the social media and forum part, but to be honest every Chelsea fan I spoke to in America (I live in the midwestern U.S.) had good things to say about him last season. It’s all anecdotal, I suppose.

Where in the midwest do you live that you actually personally know another Chelsea fan??

I mean honestly where I live with the people I personally know it's more or less "What's Chelsea?,  What is the Champion's League?"

They are vaguely aware of a sport they call soccer existing. . . That's about it.  (BTW I live in Northern Indiana)

For the record I also agree that Mount is a great player.  Consistent and seems to be able to play a lot of different positions on the field.

Indiana is what I would have guessed considering your name. I know one of the mens basketball assistant coaches at Valparaiso.

I’m in Minnesota. There’s actually a pretty decent size fan group here, Twin Cities Blues, which is part of Chelsea in America’s American Heartland chapter. But besides that I just happen to have a couple buddies who are Chelsea fans too.

Mount and Ramos are going to get in to it tomorrow, can see it happening now.

Honestly one thing that I would like to see Mount (and really most of the squad) do, especially against Ramos is sell fouls better.  It sucks but because of how distant the officials can sometimes be from the action, a player can easily come out ahead by just selling fouls better.

Would be really good if he does this against Ramos due to his reputation. . . he's almost certain to win some free kicks and maybe penalties that he might not otherwise win them.

That's cool. . . maybe you can ask your friend who is the assistant at Valpo why we suck now??  JK (But seriously we do, Matt Lottich is no Drew.)

Will have to google if there are any fan groups in my area.  I just sort of presumed there wasn't but maybe there are more than I thought.

Thats exactly the same mentality that got Kante in the physical condition he is in. Coaches always felt like he was super human until the overloads of matches caught up. It doesnt help that both players play at 110% every game.  Lets not forget that at that same age Lampard wasnt a regular starter for England. Mount will definitely play every minute for England at the Euros if he can walk. I just feel like pretty soon we will be saying f**k Southgate the same way we blame Deschamps for Kante.

I understand your point but I have to say that in the days before the big squads players regularly played big minutes every week. Kante's had his trouble with minutes but I think that is more to do with being rushed back from injury rather than a general load.

Dave has played nearly every minute for years until James arrived. As I said some players are just in better shape and have the ability to do that. I don't see limiting Mason's minutes as a good thing. It's taking away from one of his strengths.

Not many kids are close to legend status at his age but this boy could surpass them all. He's that good.

A proper Chelsea boy who's grew up here and living all of our dreams. Hope he's here all his career

Mount and Havertz are going to be huge for us.. Even more so than now.

Butterfly effect aside, it's so sad that there weren't any fans in the stadium tonight.

Mason deserved to be swamped by the fans after the quite fantastic season he's had so far.

Amen to that.

I remember seeing Twitter at the start of last season arguing about who the best and worst player was out of our academy players. Hudson-Odoi was on top, then James, then Tomori, then Abraham and Mount was bottom of the list. He's proven those people wrong. He's the best of the lot right now, and people on Twitter are full of sh*t.

So nice that Mason was the player to put the tie beyond Madrid. Been with us since he was a young kid and grown up a true Blue. Future Captain.

There will be some great players that come and go, but Mount will be the heart and soul of this team; he probably already is.

I just love his 'give it all' for the club attitude.

Does Mason have a song? He should so have a unique song, not some inane chant that's been used for scores of players already.

Paramount, final-bound, goals that count... that's my very limited creativity spent already :huh2:
