February 20, 20215 yr I guess people think he made three unnecessary changes at the start and so this was self inflicted. It was funny when I saw the thread title, probably a Freudian slip yet I thought it said, Thomas Tuchel Sacked and then the adverts caught up with the thread and the page shifted and I could see it was a misread!

Don't forget we’ve been told he’s a tactical genius that spots things in games and shifts the formation to suit. You read it hear first, no way is he here beyond the initial 18 months! So today, the very day we conceded the first goal under Tuchel was the very first real test? Not Wolves, Burnley, Spurs but today? Wait till we play Man United, that's our real test.

February 20, 20215 yr I think most of all, today just went to show... whether your manager is balding from the front or balding from the back, we're still sh*t.

Exactly, and why pick on Hudson-Odoi ? Was he any worse today than some others today and plenty more in the 6 games prior. If anything be consistent, poor man management today.

If anything be consistent, poor man management today. He made a tactical decision to bring off a player who had already come on as sub, and as you said was not our worst performer at that time. The player he then brought on (Ziyech) if anything offered less so I would say his tactical decision failed. If anything he would be better off to take the blame for that decision in his press conference. Instead he publicly criticizes a player and we have seen how that turns out in the past.

I'd say it was a test since it was the first time we had found ourselves behind in a game since his arrival. It would be wrong to say he totally failed since we managed to salvage a draw. But overall given Southampton's poor run of form it was still points dropped if we aim to make top 4.

Yes and he buggered up today no question but for it to be claimed as his first proper test is ridiculous.

To use a young player who has been played out of position and has played really well like that after a poor 20 minutes is out of order.
February 20, 20215 yr I feel like Tuchel needs to allow a little more expression in our play. We might be controlling games well but we’re very boring to watch and hardly creating any chances. Feels like we’re scraping through games.
February 20, 20215 yr I hate how Chelsea look and play under Tuchel and after his decision today, I’m seriously struggling to get behind him. I have faith that he’ll have me eating my words but right now he can do one.
February 20, 20215 yr To bring on Ziyech for CHO was simply a wrong decision. Ok, after the game anyone can see and say that but Ziyech was bad against Wolves, Barnsley and now. So if he is not showing anything then Tuchel must take the blame when he is not selecting other players.
February 20, 20215 yr Tuchel might need to rethink and tweak certain tactics as he comes to terms with the fact he hasn’t got Neymar and Mbappe to create magic moments anymore.

Yeah that’s what it feels like - a reliance on individual moments rather than creating team goals. We’re scraping through games at the minute.

Our team really struggles to make team goals, its always a wrong decision in the decisive moment I'm not sure what it is. A mental block maybe? Frank often complained they don't move the ball quick enough and don't try to break the lines enough with forward passes.

They always seem to hold onto the ball for a moment too long. Kills the chance.

Barely created a chance and he changed absolutely nothing during the game, other than to hook our 2 young player then throw them under the bus in the post match interview. I had no idea how people kept claiming we were having better on the last few games, it was exactly the same, the only difference was wolves, spurs etc didn't take their chances to get a result against us like saints did. And the same ones that defend his post match interview were the ones complaining when it was done before.... live to see.

I think we are a team of misfits..and lamps sacking only has accentuated the problem.. now we only want to play 3-5-2.. which a squad built for 4 at the back..
February 20, 20215 yr 1. I posted on here before the Newcastle game that Tuchel is rotating the team too much, its like hes rotating just for the sake of it to keep players happy. We are already lacking rhythm to our play so him rotating too much makes it worse. 2. This result had been coming, lacking quality in the final third every game, lacking goals and today it caught up with us. First half created some good moments/situations and as usual the final ball was poor. 3. What the hell we were doing with corners today? been one of our biggest strengths this season especially under Frank, whats will all the short corners?. 4. We pass the ball back around the back 3 way too much, Alonso takes way too many touches, Ziyech i wouldn't even bring him on. His subs today were dreadful, he could of put Hudson Odoi at RWB, Put Mount deeper next to Kante and Put Giroud uptop. 5. On a positive i thought Kante played well although some of his passing was poor.
February 20, 20215 yr Still early days for TT but just like Lamps before him, he must be frustrated by our lack of creativity and goal threat. From open play, where are our goals coming from FFS? We don't seem to have any players getting in goal scoring positions or even having shots on goal. One lousy long range effort from Rudiger today - woeful. In games where we totally dominate possession, it's still our opponents who create better chances and look more likely to score. I honestly can't recall a period in CFC history where we looked so toothless. Hope this is TT's priority to put right as we HAVE to start scoring some goals.
February 20, 20215 yr Today was the first game when Tuchel got things wrong big time however its still early days to form a judgement. Calling out CHO in the post match interview is a high risk strategy at a club like ours where historically Managers have lost the dressing room which has been a huge contributor in their downfall.
February 20, 20215 yr I just feel we would look so much better attacking-wise if any of Werner, Havertz or Ziyech had performed. They didn't for Lampard and although Werner have improved slightly since Tuchel they have all been extremely underwhelming. Signing what's supposed to be three top attackers and have every single one of them flop is unheard of.
