Romelu Lukaku back to Chelsea - and gone again!

It's really not. He was interviewed by Inter Tv channel and cleared out the air with their fans which he thought he needed to do. He does play in a bit of a different system but his complaint was aimed towards him thinking that he's ready to play, but Tuchel kept him out a little bit longer.

That interview was done at the closest 16 days ago, since then nobody noticed that Lukaku is unhappy with the manager or that he wants to leave, if he had any problems like that he would never score twice in the recent 2 games, he would have been like Kane before Conte arrived. Let't not be naive here, the media want's to take things out of context when it comes to Chelsea but we must support the team. What they say and how they portray us isn't what we see during games, at least rewatch the highlights of the games since Lukaku came back, there you won't see any hint of anything wrong between the manager and players.

Also managed to say he wants to return to Inter while still in his prime and not at the "end of his career".

It's something I would expect Costa to say (like he did also before Conte told him to pack his bags) and not from our record signing, five months into his contract.

And as I said. I don't think the club were aware of this interview and Lukaku have probably remained professional as he said he would. But I don't think Tuchel is going to stand for this. He called his manager out in public no matter how you twist it.

Clearly Fabrizio Romano wants to spin things for twitter hearts. If you look at the comments under his tweets all are mocking Chelsea and saying how Lukaku is finished... There is no real substance in those tweets.

Its standard media fare. Across all media. Hyperbole for clicks.

Does anybody really give a sh*t if he says he wants to return to Inter someday? Football is a business and has been for the longest time. Are we really going to cry over everything a player says, and a Belgian one no less!

Thanks for the link. The interview was taken out of context in my opinion. Lukaku is just about to hit some form and he/us get attacked unsurprisingly now.

"The interview was for a program called “Inter, scusa se ti chiamo amore”, which basically translates to “Inter, excuse me if I love you more”.

That translation is incorrect!

he said: "Inter, excuse me if I call you love" Thats a huge difference. I am sure the rest of the interview is messed up in translation too.

Chelsea are close to his heart he said previously hence he moved away from Inter and the inter ultras were offended so he is just trying to apologise to them as the interview was given to sky italia apparently a few weeks ago.

I wish i can find the interview in Italian as this was obviously translated by Google translate.

I can clearly see that he wanted to clear the air with Inter supporters, that was the main thing there. Since Tuchel thought that he needs more time before playing again all I can see is that he wanted to play sooner.

If there was something wrong I couldn't imagine him scoring twice in 1.5 games where he had 4 chances in total so I'll just trust my eyes for now and till I see an actual change of behavior on the pitch I have no reason to buy into another one of those "Look here Chelsea in crisis" type of narratives.

Seems a very strange dig at TT considering as a player Lukaku has contributed nothing towards winning anything at the club, TT will always be a champions league winning manager, for me Lukaku will always be not Drogba.

Matt Law (reliable jurno) confirmed that the interview took place 3 weeks ago. Not defending Lukaku but the context is slightly different knowing this. Apparently had talks with Tuchel since.

He owes the fans a performance vs Liverpool.

That would place it around after West ham and around Zenit. We certainly were not doing well results wise or defensive then.

It is also around the time that Lukaku was being benched despite returning from injury. I wonder if he confronted TT over tactics leading to a temporary fallout.

Read most of the interview at football-italia and honestly I can't find anything disrespectful towards Tuchel or Chelsea. He was just clearing the air with Inter almost like a closure as he left in strange circumstances.

In regards to the system ofcourse we play differently to Inter and all Lukaku was saying is that he needs to work harder to get used to our system to be as successful as he was at Inter.

In this case i support Lukaku 100% and I hope he scores a hattrick next game.

And would also fall along with what @Argo had said all along that he would be unhappy if left out of the team.

f**k me, we always get players that ruin the dressing room. This time it's a new signing. Sort it out Roman, fed up with this bullsh*t cropping up every other season.

Doesn't sound good at first glance but I'm gonna reserve judgement until the full details emerge.

We've just dropped points, a bit of a Tuchel meltdown, finance figures just released and we are playing Liverpool next...

Not jumping on a media bandwagon without seeing the full picture.

They are probably hoping we turn on him.

I'm not playing, I hope he bags a couple on Sunday.

It was probably nothing more than a misguided goodbye to his Italian fans done a few weeks ago at his lowest point.

The prevailing majority of players are dumb as f**k and do not think before they open their gob. Any semi-decent journo will manipulate a player into sensational statements if desired so.  Similar to situation when you are not advised to gob off anything to the rozzers without a good lawyer by your side.

Or maybe we're the ones in denial haha.. Guess we'll find out soon enough.

Time will definitely tell. Just from the way I've seen journos hold things back in a story before and not release full audio because the clip without context is juicier or fits a better narrative that will drive the story up. Think that's what is primarily happening here. Some of these outlets have no shame and they don't care what relationships they ruin. As long as they get the traffic and clicks

Well, it’s not happening at City or Liverpool, our manager has been disrespected by a high profile player publicly no matter how you twist it. Football being about business and players being mercenaries is fine, just don’t make it a circus and derail the club publicly and give the media anything to run with.

Different rules at those clubs. The players at City know Pep is king and they best not cross him.

Klopp is a God to Pool fans after winning both the CL and league title. He has a job for life.

TT is just the latest to hold the temporary Chelsea post, and the players know they can shift him as they always can as their opinion matters more than the managers to Roman and the board.

Saw the headline, then read the quotes. Media twisting things once again.

Someone else has put a different version on twitter.

@patrickendrick: Lukaku: “I’m not happy with the situation and that’s only natural. The head coach has decided to play a different system and I mustn’t let up, I need to keep working hard and be professional. I’m not happy with the situation but I’m a grafter and I mustn’t let up” https://twitter.com/patrickendrick/status/1476644467927101450/video/1

You are usually one of the more level headed posters on her @dkw. What are your thoughts on this?

Lukaku following Eden and Tibo in not knowing when to be quite?

It's quite a Belgian player thing to do to chat sh*t during international week isn't it ha ha.

I would question why this has been released now as we are in the middle of a poor run of form.
