Romelu Lukaku back to Chelsea - and gone again!

he disrespected the club, i don't really want to see him play tomorrow, he is so self centred and arrogant

I say play him in every game in January. Let's not give him another excuse to run his mouth to the media. If he chokes on the big stage, then we will know that the Lukaku we signed is no different from the one that left United.

Whatever he said is completely irrelevant to me, I'm not even interested enough to read further than the headlines. Football fans tend to be such ridiculously oversensitive cry-babies. If he trains well, gives 100% effort on match day, and hopefully scores goals, then he's doing all that I require from a Chelsea player.

"hopefully scores goals"

He's our record signing not a 17 year old academy player. Scoring goals (including big one's) is minimum requirement for such an investment.

He will just blame Tuchel and the system. Guy always has excuses.

I agree with you. Let him play and see if he can lift us to wins against Liverpool and City. Time for him to put his money where his mouth is and prove we should build the team around him or whether he is just a flat track bully who likes it where goals and winning are easy.

More broadly though, what is it with the Belgians, Courtois being another case in point, spouting off their mouths in the foreign press? What did he think he would just waltz in here and not have to press or be involved in the build up? Slightest headwinds and he is looking elsewhere.

Shocked so many of you want him to play, the guy has completely disrespected the club the manager and the fans, yet so many of you are willing to get on your knees for him, needs to be disciplined, the club is huge compared to this at best "good" player.

Like I said before I think he was insecure as he was injured and we were top of the league with Havertz leading the line.

Not professional though and doubt we will recoup our fee on him.

So lets see if he can produce the goods consistently.

Some fans really are oversensitive. For example the Inter fans that posted this:

Let's forget that Inter had some financial problems, let's forget that there were tons of players that played for both Inter and their biggest rival Milan, suddenly this whole concept of loyalty becomes vague... Why they didn't say this to Conte that left them first? Oh I see, they are still grateful for everything he did, but Lukaku is the coward that left as soon as things got hard. If anything, it's the exact opposite, Lukaku made his own life harder, Conte made his life easier by quitting. And the irony is that Inter is still at the top of Serie A right now.

I have no problem with Lukaku being stupid enough to want to explain himself to Inter fans, that's his choice and his relationship with the broader circus called football.

I only dislike the fact that he felt the need to talk about Chelsea in that same context, there was absolutely no need to mention anything Chelsea related when talking to the Italian public, mainly Inter fans.
I think that when I was a teenager that I was very naive but not like Lukaku is at 28! Even kids are careful when talking cause they know what they say could bite them in the butt, but not Lukaku cause as the famous @coco said, he's a slut!

For all their faults with the media Courtois and Hazard both still delivered on the pitch for us despite wanting to leave.

If Rom knuckles down and does the same he'll leave with my best wishes, I fear he won't though.

How can Lukaku genuinely love this club when he's been here a combined 5 minutes? I think it's natural that he feels most affinity towards Inter where he was loved the most and acutally won something there.

I know that isn't going to happen, but he certainly deserved to be booed for 90 minutes tomorrow. No one is bigger than this club.

I'm sure that will help this club tremendously :face_palm:

Good grief, I think this thread has hit its lowest point.

Maybe you should have read a bit more in to it. At one point he says ‘That bluedave from The Shed End is a right w**ker’.

Neither will Lukaku's stupid comments. For God's sake, we were the champions of Europe without him. It's not like we depend on him, he's not a saint. Don't forget he hasn't apologized yet. I think that the fans shouldn't just get over it. He has to be aware that we are not happy. Also, it would show to anyone who intends to do a similar thing, that behaving like that is never going to be tolerated.

I repeat, no player or manager is bigger than Chelsea.

But the thing is, no one is being overly sensitive or a cry baby. Chelsea have broke their transfer record for him and handed him huge wages, put a lot of faith in him.

And this is how he pays them back? Whining about the manager and his tactics, hinting at a move back to Inter Milan? He’s only been here for 4 months.

I wanted to hold back as this may have been a nothing thing but you can’t change what he’s said. He’s a prick and I hope he’s sold next month or summer, no one is bigger than the club. He obviously thinks he’s bigger than Chelsea.

Get rid.

Certainly has inspired a lot of anger. Imagine what it will be like after we have not beaten Pool tomorrow and we have looked half a$$Ed while doing so.

On his fist day of Chelsea training, Lukaku was accused by Christian Pulisic of mocking him by imitating his American accent.

Despite the Belgian telling Pulisic he was “trippin dawg,” the two have not spoken to each other since.

I hope he plays so he is booed. Maybe not for 90 minutes, but he needs to stand on that pitch and understand the fans are not on his side here.

He may then buckle down and work. Because he will quickly realise he's not got another club to go to.

Huge game tomorrow and you want us to boo our main striker yes that will help. Give him the silent treatment don't sing his name no matter how many goals he scores used to happen to Kevin Wilson all the time 😆. Why anyone is surprised a footballer who's had previous for shouting his mouth off is beyond me none of us are happy about what he said but booing one of our own is counter productive.

I don't agree with booing myself but in my opinion fans spend hard earned money to go to games (some beyond what they sensibly should) and if they decide to show their annoyance tomorow I can't say I'll hold it as a black mark against them.

Unless ofcourse it's gets personal or worse, but that's a totally different conversation.
