We could feel his absence when he was subbed off tbh. I thought he had a good game. I think you're right his final ball was perhaps lacking, but these players just need more games playing together to figure out that nuance.

I didn't literally mean he did nothing. I meant he just did the basics, I would expect most of our youth players to be able to trap the ball, beat a press and pick a pass so he's not breaking new grounds there.

I usually agree with your ratings Scott but was very surprised to see you gave hime a 3 today. For me I saw plenty to be encouraged about. After a poor start I though he showed well for the ball, linked the play well and was generally tidy. I'm looking forward to seeing if he can develop.

I've seen him get a bit of stick for his performance today from a few people. Didn't expect to see that at all. I thought he showed a lot of promise today after settling down. Tough crowd here!

My worry is he strikes me a young RLC in the sense he has good/explosive isolated actions that makes it look like he's having a better overall game than he actually is. I'd love to be wrong but i feel we are looking at super sub (at best) long term.

August 13, 20232 yr Felt he played in a nervous way in the first half. The entire team looked nervous and shaky in the first 20 minutes, particularly Colwill and Disasi. Understandable really given the circumstances. Second half Carney was much, much better, as were Colwill and Disasi. Carney's touch and control is superb. In one example today, with players around him, he killed a dropping ball stone dead in the Liverpool penalty area, a beautiful touch of technical ability. He is gonna be a player for us. Believe.

Agree with this. Definitely a player in there. Only 19 and I’m looking forward to seeing him develop under Poch.

August 16, 20232 yr Reportedly, could now be sent out on loan for this season. Why Chelsea believe £222m duo Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez can conquer all they see before them | Evening Standard Personally, I'd wait 6 months to see how his situation develops before deciding whether to loan him out. He's surely best placed staying here to develop under Pochettino, provided he gets the bare minimum amount of gametime. Straight loan moves tend to be very hit & miss.

This would be a shame, but with the amount of DM/CM players we are signing, it does tend to suggest a 4-3-3 rather than 4-2-3-1, and as the central attacking midfielder in the latter, then I guess Carney is somewhat surplus to requirements. Wouldn't be my choice though.

August 16, 20232 yr Felt he really shone during pre-season but didn't make much of a case for himself on Sunday. Would love to see him grow under Poch rather than being sent out on loan.

What "facts" usually get attached to newspaper articles? The author (Nizaar Kinsella) is pretty reliable when it comes to Chelsea matters.
August 17, 20232 yr Chukwuemeka is very interesting player. He has a brilliant chance of showing what he can do now that Nkunku is out. I think he is still too raw for the massively important role but I am very interested to see how he does now that Caicedo is there to sure the ship and Enzo having the licence to bomb forward. I think he basically needs to be careful with the ball and have some end product; assists or goals. You basically need that to continue playing at number 10/advancing 8. If he was in a less pressure side I think he'd do very well. Hopefully he can handle the pressure.

Well at the very least a "an insider said" or something, this didnt even have that, it was just an opinion written as a fact. There's zero evidence behind it.
August 18, 20232 yr Surely he'd be first choice backup after Enzo/Caicedo as an 8 (assuming Lavia playing the deep role)

August 20, 20232 yr Great goal - feels like that could be the confidence boost he needs to really kick on and show exactly what he's got. Touch wood the injury isn't too serious.
August 20, 20232 yr Really nice goal - nothing but praise for his contributions today. Also really hoping the injury is not as serious as it appeared

Also really hoping the injury is not as serious as it appeared The physios allowed him to hobble off the pitch without a stretcher, so it seems unlikely it's a cruciate ligament injury. He also seemed to initially injure it whilst overstretching and picking up that yellow but carried on playing for a while after, which wouldn't be possible to do with a cruciate injury.
