Andreas Christensen - The Return

Featured Replies

Presumably if he stays at Barcelona he still gets paid whatever he agreed with them ? He just won't be able to play LOL.

Maybe we can offer to take him on loan for a year with Barca paying his wages ? A one year stop gap until Leicester cave on Fofana, or De Ligt gets bored at Bayern and decides to join his buddy De Jong at the Bridge !

If we've got a vacancy in catering or the club shop I'm happy for him to come back. Just not as a player.

If we brought him back as player/chef, he could make sure his dietary requirements are more strictly adhered to,  thus missing less games.

I would absolutely take him back if we are not able to get Fofana for example. He knows the club and didn't leave in negative manner.

Not sure we tried particularly hard to get him to sign on again though, so we clearly weren't overly bothered about him going. There are countless bang average CBs that we could pick up, if that is the route we end up going.

Emotional part of me says hellll no. Christensen can feck of until all hell freezes over for all I care.. Jessie... We would take in a heartbeat. But the rational part of myself says.. taking him back on a short term dealwill help us take our time to get a better less expensive option to Fofana.. so I am split 50/50 on this

and If he had anything about him he shouldn't have a reverse gear and should only be looking forward. If he leaves Barcelona as a free agent there are plenty of other clubs he can go to. If he is quick enough he could probably get into Sevilla before they take Kounde back.

Pass for me. He made his decision and isn’t good enough for Chelsea.

He made a decision based upon misinformation and lies.

He was an academy player.  He is a very good defender.  He is good enough to be part of Chelsea. He will not cost us 80 million quid.

I am open to being forgiving.  Then maybe selling him next summer and making a little money.

He "refused" to play in the Cup final, and I am not sure that he is a very good defender.  Made too many mistakes for me. It a No from me !!

I think we can do better. He’s to soft for me

No thanks.
For me it’s not only about whether he can be a good gap stop for this season, which could be a cheap option, but he’s obviously having issues and he ended up not playing due to last minute circumstances. If he came back, who’s to say that he’ll not keep having the same last minute issues. He’s not a trustworthy back up at the moment.

I'm not sure, we could use the depth but he did refuse to play in matches because he didn't want to get injured and screw up his transfer to Barca.

I lean towards yes but I have a hard time squaring that with him basically quitting on the team at the end of the year.

I guess it's sort of up to Tuchel if he wants to deal with him again.

Edit: I can confirm this is correct his Instagram has all sorts of pictures of him with Chelsea and his national team, not a single picture of him with Barca.

For me it is about professionalism. He checked out when he knew he was going to Barca and refused to play in some of our most important games when a lot of players were injured. I would have overlooked all that if he was as talented as Silva. But he is not and makes a lot of mistakes. We should move on unless we are truly desperate and not able to sign Fofana.

Did you miss the cup final he refused to play in?

To be honest financially this makes a lot of sense (rather than overpaying for some random CB on deadline day), but I'd be worried that taking him back would disrupt the dressing room and undermine Tuchel's authority, since Christensen clearly didn't want to be here.

Kessie on the other hand I would sign in a heartbeat

There is no reason to be truly desperate, develop Chalobah or put Ampadu on the bench. No serious management would welcome Christensen back, it's not like we have financial problems like Barcelona we let him go for free...
