Regardless of the style (which was still a lot better than the garbage Conte served up in 17/18) all the underlying metrics pointed to sustainable progression. If he ultimately wasn't good enough to evolve the style to be more athestically pleasing (which his other jobs suggests he would have done, Napoli actually played a similar 'boring' brand in season one) and winning then he would have left a hell of a foundation for the next guy.

If we're say 7th in December, the metrics are looking promising (ie creating loads of chances, not giving that much away etc) and pointing to sustainable progression can you see everyone pulling together and looking at the bigger picture? I hope I'm wrong but I'm not confident.

Same philosophy as Lamps. Even though he couldn’t deliver he identified our training was poor.

The main thing I took from the interview and subsequent quotes on the club website is that we haven't finished recruiting. You can read this quote a number of ways but one way is there is more to come.

‘We need to bring players in that believe from day one that it is all about winning, being competitive and giving our best. We are already working really hard and then we need to translate this energy to our fans to create a togetherness.

Yes.

Let's not forget the number one priority is, again, to sign a decent striker... I cannot remember the number of years Chelsea have been trying to sign a decent striker or how many we've signed that have failed!

Perhaps, we're accepting it's not going to happen again this year and instead we're going to try and develop the youngsters we've got who won't be under so much pressure... if that works it'll be great.

We have Broja, Jackson and Nkunku. While Nkunku and Jackson also play as wide forwards/Second strikers, all 3 can play as main striker/forward.

I am a lot happier with those options than Aubameyang, Havertz or Felix.

Really liked his presser. He reminds a bit of an Argy Mickey Rourke hope he keeps up w the black whistle and tie on game days sick of trackies on football managers to denote they’re part of the same team, they’re not there The Gaffer period.

Liked what he had to say, his plans and  philosophy, more players inbound , making Lukaku his bitch 😅 and best of all no talk of patience and a long term project plus wanting to beat  the dippers  on EPL match day 1 , like that !

Lets see if he can deliver

A stark contrast from the last manager we hired. There will be plenty of bumps on the road, but at least he set the standard and expectation for the players and himself on day one. No more of the this is a 5 year project, let's all get along and take this slow.

I am sure it started pre-season. I read that one of the players mentioned it was the worse pre-season they ever had. It adds up. The fitness was looking poor most of the season. 

nice to see a manager in a suit for once, who doesn't look like a PE teacher

Such a shame the fans didnt have patience. Got the best season out of Eden, we took a couple of big losses but christ, we were moving in the right direction. Napoli improved year on year as they understood what passing with pace felt like. They were for a few years one of the most entertaining sides to watch in world football. 

what I find curious is that Tuchel served up dog turds week in and out after winning the champions league and was a cult favourite.. certainly doesn't know what a decent player looks like either givencthe crap we've had to pass off this summer. We can be a fickle bunch sometimes.

I agree. Watching Hazard and watching young players like Hudson-Odoi and Loftus-Cheek in the Europa League was the only things I enjoyed from that season. The football was boring and it's a style of football I still think we have a problem shaking off today.

I will be seriously disappointed if we are still seeing that slow, low energy football by Christmas, it has to go.

The thing is that Sarri completely changed the way we played with minimal changes to the starting lineup, this is something new since Pochettino really is rebuilding now and everything hangs in the air. The old squad is gone and I must say that Tuchel got the best out of it.

So a new style with new faces and new leaders... It's going to be a rocky ride, I don't see Pochettino playing safe either so it's of immense importance that the fans don't turn their heads and lose hope, this does look like a real process, like a real project and it will take at least a season to forge a team. We will get burned, lots of times, but we should support this team.

I've been saying for years that we haven't fully shaken off that style of football mate, it's coma inducing at times !

Looks like people getting emotionally attached to the coach again. Never should happen at Chelsea. 2 to 3 seasons max at Chelsea irregardless how well he does. There’s bound to be something. Player power, clash with the owners, fams impatience, all that lot. Tired of going through this cycle but this has become routine here. No emotion is justified again. He is just another staff. I remembered everyone being amazed by Potter first few days.

I just don't get the love for Tuchel. Sorry, I just don't. He served up some of the worst football Ive ever seen at the bridge and managed to suck any joy out of me watching Chelsea on TV. I hated watching us and the direction the club was going under him. I think he was lucky to come to us given the disaster he created at PSG.

I actually rate Bobby Di Mateo more highly as he won our first champions league. We played better football under his management than Tuchels entire time at the bridge. Perhaps its a hazy memory but I will give up football and the will to live if any manager serves up the kind of crap Tuchel did again at the bridge. I honestly think he'll be done by Xmas or January at Bayern once they start signing his players. An incredibly lucky manager.

I don't think I agree with you. In term of x n o, I rate tuchel as probably the best in europe.
