West Ham v Chelsea (PL) Sun 20th Aug 2023 16:30 GMT

Featured Replies

this second half is for the ages, as bad as we were all last season.

Spend preseason playing one way, then all of a sudden Colwill is left back, and Chilwell is left wing.

Utterly bizarre.

Still no goals in this team especially with Nkunku out. I'm praying we swap Lukaku for Vlahovic, and bring in another quality creative player.

Caicedo was shocking today I think I saw him complete one sideways pass the entire time he was on. Utterly disgusting that he’s allowed to wear the number 25. Should have had to prove himself for a season before it was even a suggestion.

I know people didn’t like it when I said it at half time but maybe they’ll agree now. There was no difference in that game from the Chelsea of last season. Awful to watch. Stirling the only player who looked like he was playing for something.

I feel like all the optimism and promise we saw during preseason has completely vanished. If I was in a coma and woke up and watched this performance, I would've told you Potter was still managing us.

West Ham got exactly what they wanted and Poch served it to them on a silver platter. Out played and bullied by West Ham who had 10 men for 30 minutes. Spending absurd amounts of money only to revert to a system that had us finished 12 to f**king begin with.

Unacceptable.

Is this a chelsea forum or Twitter for teens .. the amount over reactions.. chill one game we should have won it but that’s football ..

on to the next one.. Caicedo will get better and with the debut out of the way I am sure he will be extra motivated to prove..

people writing him after a game are clearly not Chelsea or football fans.. get behind and support your club every game is not a reason to go after our players

sh*t happens in football.. chill

Did you cut and paste that post from last season?

Absolutely. Nowhere near ready. Even Enzo went missing after Caicedo came on. Glad we have 5 days to train.

I am also bit worried about Mudryk. My word he needs a goal.

Mudryk reminds me of Gronkjaer. Plenty of pace but little else  so far. Hopefully I will be proven wrong but so far I am not impressed.

Sanchez - 6 - Couldn't really do anything about the goals, and even saved it from being a bigger embarassment.

Gusto - 4 - Too safe, massive downgrade on James.

Disasi - 3 - Gave away a needless yellow card in the first half, was responsible for their second goal and was just complete crap in the 2nd half overall.

Silva - 7 - Only defender that plays without losing his head.

Colwill - 4 - Was fine until the 2nd half, he was also terrible with their 2nd goal.

Chilwell - 4 - Well below his best, never in the game.

Gallagher - 6 - Nothing special, but put the work in as usual.

Enzo - 4 - Rubbish penalty and never recovered.

Chukwuemeka - 7 - At fault for their first goal from the corner, but his goal was great and he was having a positive impact on our attack in the first half.

Sterling - 7 - Excellent in the first half, he dominated, like against Liverpool though, he faded badly in the 2nd half.

Jackson - 5 - Never gave West Ham players a second to breath in the first half. He missed yet another chance though and was rubbish in the 2nd half.

subs (oh boy)

Mudryk - 2 - f**king terrible. Doesn't have a football brain at all, he just runs. He has nothing else to his game, no intelligence on the ball, no chemistry. Some compared him to Werner, and they aren't far off. He doesn't look right in this league.

Madueke - 5 - Nothing good, but nothing bad.

Burstow - 4 - Didn't make a single positive change to our game.

Caicedo - 1 - f**king hell, not since Bakayoko have I seen a performance that bad. I don't care that it's his first game, if you're as good as everybody says you are, you don't perform like that. That was awful from Caicedo.

- I was encouraged by the first half

- Jackson looked great, was a handful

- Sterling looks reborn

- Second half was awful

I think if Enzo scores that penalty we win this game comfortably

i think mentally we didn't recover from that penalty miss, we collapsed after that

Maybe not top 4, but we need some European football next season.

No chance Scott. Not on this showing. 2-3 years to stand any chance and that is only if he gets to get rid of all of the poseurs and try to develop proper footballers.

Super frustrating match, really took away a lot of the positivity since last match.

Just so annoying how we messed it up, should have taken the lead by end of first half, second half painful.

Guess should have known would be tough after last season, and especially away at West Ham - only 2 wins for us out of last 10 now there.

Hope the team learn some lessons from today and get ready for Luton next Friday - need a much better focused performance to bounce back then!

We dominated them first half and should have been at least 1 goal in front.

Second half was 50/50. We should have won, but if you can't score from 12 yards it's a problem.

We're an incredibly young team, we can't expect too much. Best thing we can do is get behind the lads. Onto the next game. Come on Chels!!

So then negative line up against a aide almost relegated last season, negative result.

3cbs, still cannot defend properly. Conveed from the little chanced we give away.

Lots more money spent, still miss loads of chances.

Enzo a 107mill player who cannot take a pen over hit his final balls often.

Caicedo decides "if Enzo misses a pen I will trump him and give them one".

Positive presence, to return with Potterball, boring sh*t. Nice Pochettino.

Caceido?

Those f**king Scousers will have enjoyed that.

Let's get behind our team , that's what supporters are for , things will get better, our first half was much better than anything from last season,

Come on you BLUES !

Finally a sensible comment in the middle of all this negativity. The team is a working progress, and it’s the job of the supporters to back them. Let’s take this defeat as building  block for a comeback.

A terrible half of football after plenty of encouragement in the first half. Turning point was the last few mins of first half with the injury to Carney and the penalty miss.

Unfortunately I full expect to see a few days like this as we try to settle in this new look squad. But I still have some major concerns about where our goals will come from. It was our biggest problem last season and looks like it will be again this season.

Performance fell of a cliff after penalty miss and Emeka went off but that's expected with a young team and perhaps not too many positives yet to ground selves in.

They'll get better. I wouldn't rule out a Europe finish but will come at the cost of hard work.

So many people already turning on players after just one bad half of football. Let's calm down a bit.

Last season was excruciating and there is no sign that any progress has been made.

Every team outside of the top 6 is going to play like this against us now. It's hard not to be pessimistic.

Disappointing result obviously, but both in this match and last week's we have shown great promise. So many new players (at the club and in the Premier League) and injuries more or less guarantees a scratchy start. Caicedo has barely had a pre-season and was thrown on as a desperate measure.

We will improve.

People forget Thiago’s first game for us .. ended 3-3 and he gifted them 2 goals.. guess how they turned out..

Caicedo had a disaster debut but this can happen when you are chasing a game.. the least fans can do is give him time.. he barely has played and doesn’t look match fit..

Ivanovo gave a penalty in his debut and I can do on and on about players who had poor debuts but anyone who has watched him play knows the lad is class.

I'm telling you it all went to sh*t after halftime because the players went into the dressing room, realised Poch was in casual attire and thought - oh WTF he doesn't care why should we

If he'd asserted his authority in a well cut suit and matching tie we'd have won that game. It's all about standards.
