In the 9 years he's been at the club he's managed to be our best right back, our best left back, our best centre back, our best wing back. Played midfield on a couple of occassions too!

Took over the captaincy and lifted 3! European trophies.

    He's been fantastic the whole time he's been with us. And he's still doing the business.

    One of our best signings ever. He may have already reached legend status before winning the Champions League, but he cemented it after winning it.

    It's 4 European trophies by the way 😉

    The move to a back 3 has certainly revitalised his career.. i think under Frank he would have been moved on this year sine he doesnt seem to have the pace to do a FB role which is one of the most demanding roles in football.

    But i think each trophy win would have added to his legend in the dressing room!

    Last night Sky showed the entire Demba Ba/ Slippy G match from 2014. It was a joy to watch, and almost the whole team played superbly (Salah was as bad I remember, and Schürrle wasn't great). The defence was fantastic (Kalas played out of his skin), but Azpi was incredible. Sterling and Suarez were in peak form, but Azpi dealt with everything flawlessly. An absolute masterclass.

    I get the impression his popularity has grown massively over the past 2, 3 years. There's probably hardly any supporter who dislikes him (although I seem to recall one -now banned - forum member with an inexplicable anti Azpi agenda).

    Great servant to the club, grown into a leader.

    Ibrahimovic will miss the first game of the playoffs because of that. Some years ago I remember Sweden got Portugal and Ronaldo went absolute ham and totally outshined Ibrahimovic...
