The John Obi Mikel Goal Scoring Thread

Featured Replies

In my mind Mikel has always performed well in big/important games. I know others slag him off, but I quite like him.

i think he doesnt contribute enough in most regular games during a season, but when a big game comes along he is fantastic at raising his game. mentaly very strong, great positioning and barely puts a foot wrong in the games that matter most. he's the sort of character we always need in our dressing room

He is so cool and calm and you need that in big frantic games like this.

He is a genius , Only the most intelligent can keep their calm in the most frantic of moments... Similar to(Obviously not in ability) Lampard, Zidane, Pirlo, Xavi, Iniesta etc... You rarely see them bottle it.

You... what have you done.

Don't be a twat now  :blush2: , Mikel is very smart even Mou said that he is a genius, I just think he tends to be lazy compared to some.

I love his new hair, I'm starting to get a bit of a thing for Mikel now, and no it's not sexual.

That hair looks awesome though, he looks like some jedi out of star wars, Mikel must have been using the force in the Liverpool game. That must be why Steven Gerrard slipped!

Some great noises coming from Mikel's agent:

"Mikel is a fighter who will like to stay and fight for his place in Chelsea. [...] It's all part of the transfer speculations. As far as I am concerned, there is nothing like that. [The link with Inter] is just a rumour. We heard a similar thing that he was going to Galatasaray last season."

Exactly what we want to hear!

After hearing that I want him to stay even more, he shouldn't play when we want to dominate games and possession because he can't pass forward too well but he's shown time and time again that he can step up in the big games. Maybe we can try him in smaller games if we play him and matic with matic bombing forward with Mikel sitting, still yet to see how well matic is at playing like yaya though.

I long for the day he leaves

Mikel performing very well at international level is nothing new.

In fact, he was bought solely off his international performances, because at club level he had barely played.

He has always looked really good for his country. Years ago he looked like a 30 year old veteran, a wise head on young shoulders.

The only explanation of why he doesn't play like this at Chelsea must be simply that he is told to play in a different fashion. I think he has been pigeon holed into a role that he cant escape from.

He's never going to be given attacking license in a Chelsea shirt because he isn't that good going forward.

Always looks more impressive for Nigeria in an attacking midfield role because he gets more time and space on the ball.

Will be interesting to see if he does stay even after his agents comments saying he will because he is at least 4th choice now and I really can't see him starting many games unless we pick up injuries and suspensions.

I have been impressed by Mikel at the World Cup. Let's hope he puts the same performances in for Chelsea next season.

Meh, i think he was ok against France, but in the group he was just so slow. It was that bad that they even pointed it out in the Match of the Day studio, and they never get on his back.

What is it with Rangers fans coming in here and being extremely abusive to Mikel?  Have they found out he's the only Catholic in the squad or something?

i'll take exception to this. Regardless of which teams i support, the guy is a limited player, who most rational and logically minded people would deem "sh*te". I'm a season ticket holder at the bridge and have been a chelsea fan for 27 years, so dont necessarily consider myself a "rangers fan coming in here".... as if unwelcome. the holier than thou attitude on here is f**king hilarious from a multitude of individuals who sit at home on match day and commentate on the match day threads like mentally ill gary neville's. Fully prepared for a barrage of abuse from the usual suspects who are quick to vent their sense of unique entitlement to support chelsea football club, but quite frankly there are too many c**ts who dont even follow the f**king team unless its through an article written in the f**king daily mail.

oh, and there is a complete history of the club's relationship with Rangers here http://www.theshedend.com/topic/18448-chelsea-and-rangers/  so go and f**k yourself with your snide digs about sectarianism when you quite clearly dont have the slightest f**king idea what youre talking about you mug c**t.

Have an opinion, but to say this about people who disagree is just stupid.

He is far from sh*te. He wouldn't have lasted this long if he was.
