In fact, hard to see past anyone being happier than Lionel Messi at this transfer. Hit a couple low and accurate shots and you'll get goals if TC continues his CFC form.

Was meant to be Cech’s long term replacement but left after just three years despite being offered a huge contract by the club and having allowed him to stay at Atletico for three years.... now he joins their bitter rivals, so their fans won’t be too impressed with him either. Burning all his bridges isn’t he? Not to mention, that he threw his dollies out of the pram, just to get Cech relegated to the bench.
August 8, 20187 yr He spent as long here as he did at Atletico. I am sure their fans won't be as annoyed as ours due to the comments he's made and actions during his time here though.
August 8, 20187 yr Am sure he is gutted so many at Chelsea cannot stand him anymore...lol Goodbye and good luck to you tibo. I don't like how you have gone about this transfer, it shows a lack of respect for the club we love and our fans. However I get the desire to be closer to your kids and play for the great real Madrid. You could have just done this all in a much better way. You are a good keeper, let's see if you can prove yourself as good as you think you are. Good luck :)

August 8, 20187 yr Madrid fans reaction to his signing not overwhelmingly positive on Twitter, lots of comments in support of Navas. Thought they’d be a lot happier, maybe the longstanding link to De Gea had them hopeful for having Spain’s number one between the sticks for them again?
August 9, 20187 yr His best save imo is the one handed save off PVA’s shot in the 90th minute two seasons ago. I can never forgive him for allowing Messi to score from an impossible angle with his right foot when the ball passed between his legs early in the return leg, killing any slight chance we had to make it to the next round of the CL.
August 9, 20187 yr I'll be honest and admit that losing a keeper of his ability is something of a blow. However, his antics will IMO have put him not too far behind the likes of Bogarde/Mutu/Gallas/Poyet in the Chelsea Hall of Shame, even though one can sympathise with someone wanting to be closer to their kids. In my view, he was excellent in his first season here (2014/15), but he was never quite as good as Cech was at his best, nor is it not clear to me that he would have fared as well in Sarri's system as he originally did with Conte/Mourinho. Courtois at his best was a brilliant shot-stopper with sure handling who could position himself superbly, but his distribution IMO was fairly average and he was never the quickest keeper around. Also, I never really believed that he could raise his performances when the rest of the team was struggling, or after he returned from injury. In 2015/16 he suffered from an injury and after he returned he seemed reluctant to come off his line, was spilling balls regularly and was constantly misplacing passes. He also wasn't that impressive last season either. Performances that stand out for mine include his heroics versus Liverpool at Anfield during the 2014/15 League Cup, which kept us in the tie, alongside his miracle save off a rasping shot from Van Aanholt at Sunderland in 2016/17. His triple save against Hull in 2014/15 was great too. Edited August 9, 20187 yr by DaRick

How the hell do they replace Ronaldo's goals? Not just his goals either, it's his presence too, that alone is usually enough to scare most teams. So far, not a single one of their players can replicate that, only Bale get's close but he's injured so much and seems to have an on and off reputation at Real Madrid. Barcelona will walk the league again this year, it will be easier than it's been in years for them, and it was pretty easy last season.

Don't mean to be pedantic but that goal changed nothing, we started the game needing a goal anyway, it was Dembele's goal that put us in serious trouble.
August 9, 20187 yr Hopefully he’ll come back to Stamford Bridge one day, I’m sure he will get a warm reception from the fans.

If Bale is fit he can produce a lot of goals one way or another but he's never fit in a whole season. Also that club has some problems, the way they said "goodbye" to Casillas and Raul was super sad and now when Ronaldo left they just made 1 freaking tweet about it, it's their top goalscorer in history which is not a small thing for a club like Real Madrid, just look how Barcelona said farewell to Iniesta it was amazing, Ronaldo will get a Totti-type goodbye from Juventus fans if things go well and he really stays there a few years. I still don't see Courtois as that amazing, Navas won 3 CL titles in a row but every year the club is somehow not trusting in him and now he will be a bench warmer, Barcelona will walk over them in El Classico this season and like you said in La-Liga as well, specially with the additions of Vidal,Arthur,Malcom.

The previous manager thought their 'keeper was good enough (won them 3 European Cups so must be doing something right?). Was it that because Courtois was in the final 12 months of his contract they were able to sign a "galactico" style signing without having to actually spend very much money? Trying to appease fans after the sale of Ronaldo?
August 9, 20187 yr No respect for us Chelsea fans, no respect for Atletico fans, glad he's gone now. He's not anywhere near the top keeper, these younger keepers coming through are more agile than he is, he relies mostly on his height, any shots that come in low and hard he struggles to get down to. It could all end in tears, fingers crossed.
August 9, 20187 yr Be quite hilarious if Navas keeps his place, and Real have essentially just signed a £35M #2 ....
August 9, 20187 yr Just reading through all these posts it's so easy to see how bitter people are about Courtois leaving. Really sad. Damn right we have a right to be bitter...the faith, support and backing fans gave him over a gent and legend like Cech to be number 1 and he pulls this. The lanky weasel. It's sad because we all knew it that all he was doing was winding down his contract. Even those that try to play devil's advocate and say he was unsure, difficult situation to be in as his kids in Spain....blah blah blah know deep down that the gobsh*te was doing what he has done best since we loaned him to Atletico.....Being unfaithul and ungrateful to Chelsea. We let this guy play against us in a champions league semi final for crying out loud just to keep him happy when we knew at the time he was a formidable element of Atletico's backline. I believe at the time he held club to ransom about signing an extension and returning to Chelsea if he was allowed to play or something similar (Not too sure now). We knew it could be to our detriment and it was as he pulled off blinders against us to eventually carry them over the line. Now I'm not saying it's wrong for him to have ambitions beyond Chelsea or even not share the same passionate emotions about the club we do as fans but he knew what he was doing all along and for a club that did what it has for you over the years that's pretty low class. I'm glad the club has dealt with situation as best as it has but truth is they didn't really have a choice to deal with it earlier as the weasel led us all on.
August 9, 20187 yr My Biggest concern now is that in consecutive seasons we've had players not return for the new season and have been successful in getting there preferred move, this sets a very dangerous precedent. Like it or not but this is a failure on the part of Chelsea in allowing such a situation to arise, the situations should've been anticipated and possibly resolved before the players took matters into there own hands.
