I thought he did really well with Salah, then Mane got moved there and he just bullied Mane aswell. 

He's really hit some form, fair play to him. I've gave Rudiger a lot of sh*t, probably more sh*t than I have any other Chelsea player besides Kepa. 

Although can be clumsy, he is very difficult to beat for pace which is a bonus of having him in the backline. Christensen is no slouch either but Rudiger has always had very good pace for a CB.

He was good in the brief appearances under Lamapard too this season, he's a had solid season.

Did a real job on Salah, never let him cut inside and fire a proper shot with that left foot. Rudiger did such a good job, Salah was taken off even he didnt play badly

When he's focused, he is a good CB.

Regarding his near-departure in the summer and his future at the club:

One of the most complete CB performances I can remember. Crazy good tonight, and seemed to be everywhere. Even took a dagger to the chest for the red card.

MOTM performance if not for Kante. Brilliant display and looked like he was proper chels and well up for it!

He's back at his best, when he has the attitude he's a leader on the pitch.

Absolutely immense tonight, probably his best performance in a Chelsea shirt. I had my doubts if he could come back considering how terrible he was last season, but he has been excellent this season even in the few appearances he got under Lampard. 

He played like a man who really dislikes Atletico today. He stepped up and led well.

Id argue this is the best form of his career. Looking like an absolute warrior at the moment.

Last night might well have been his best performance for us so far. He's been excellent since his return to the team. 

Defended superbly, with that JT arrogance of knowing he was better, more physical, and not intimidated

Normally I don't really like play acting by our players but considering who the opposition was I actually have to applaud Rudiger for managing to be the biggest wind up merchant on the night in a game that involved Luis Suarez.

He has been fantastic over the two legs of the CL. He's driven rat face Suarez up the wall to the point that he was subbed last night and had not done anything on the pitch. However, he's got to cut down those borderline charges from his game, he could have given away a penalty pushing rat face with this right arm.

He is an immense beast of a player when he’s on it - last night he was on it big time, it was almost as though this particular game was personal to him some how ?

Anyways, along with a few others in the team, he was definitely a contender for MoM , but you are right about the almost penalty - I winced with the fear of a pen being awarded when he made that challenge, I think rat face had a shout tbh? 

I think he’s ever so slightly bonkers and at times and looses the head - he needs to keep that part of his game under control (easy said) and especially keep his hands to himself, I wish he wouldn’t touch other players - I wonder if we can get him shorts with pockets in ?

Funny  how a howler of a mistake can often be a watershed. Many examples but Beckham vs Argentina at the 98 World Cup springs to mind, and then two of our own in very recent memory: Christensen v Liverpool earlier in the season (some debate as to whether it was indeed an error but it was certainly perceived as such by the majority) and  then of course Rudiger’s own goal a few games back. Ever since then he’s been immense. MOTM candidate in several recent games, including last night. I also wasn’t crazy about the play acting but then I thought: maybe you have to beat them at their own game, and of course he’s Chelsea which makes it ok:)! May it (the immense defending more than the Oscar-winning acting) long continue!
