June 26, 20206 yr A great result last night. I thought that as the game went on we got better and better. Future looks good and with the number of good quality midfielders we have can mix it up. Yes, there were a few mistakes but going to get those in any game. Could have scored more goals but I'll settle for a 2-1 win. As mentioned earlier, I turned off the sound when watching the game (couldn't listen to the references to the bin dippers) and switched off the TV as soon as the final whistle was blown. Will watch interviews with Frank on the Chelsea website later.
June 26, 20206 yr On some level I don't really mind that the coverage was so focused on Liverpool. It's hard to argue that them winning the title for the first time in decades isn't a bigger story than Man City (who - European ban appeal excepted - don't really have anything to play for in the League), and our hunt for a Champions' League spot. A great game and a mostly impressive performance from us, a great scalp for Frank, but... whatever, it's fine. What did irritate me and strike me as completely unnecessary was having the magnificently average Jason McAteer drunkenly regurgitating cliché after cliché on the channel I was watching, while the last ten minutes of our game passed silently in the background, totally unnoticed. A bit excessive, no? Even when it comes to the cringiest fans in world sports...
June 26, 20206 yr A game of drink breaks. in each half after the drinks break we became a more forceful counter attacking team and looked like scoring. We also played longer passes and used our pace after the drinks break. Despite their possession we had more shots than they did. I like these drink breaks - can we keep them for next season? Frank’s substitutions worked well again. Who knows we might steal 3rd spot again, not bad for a team going through a rebuild.
June 26, 20206 yr good win for us.. congratz to Liverpool on the league never really had a problem with them it was well deserved this year... a lot of hate for them on this forum though making us look whiny and sad.. just say congratz and move on to next season boys no need to insult them lol. I really felt that at the time they focused on the game as well as the historic achievement by Leicester. It's a shame as that was probably one of the top 5 games of the season so far. It was easily the best game since the league restarted - by a country mile. Edited June 26, 20206 yr by bisright1

Oh Plok....you have still much to learn. It's so easy to argue that ours was the biggest story

But the coverage appeared to be very much blind to what a vital game it was for Chelsea and the Champions League race...a competition the club need to be in to make more signings so they can bridge the gap to....Liverpool. If roles were reversed and it was Liverpool beating city to give Chelsea the title, do you think it would have been covered the same way? No chance.
June 26, 20206 yr Author I never watched the game, i could imagine how it would be, and decided i didn't need to get mad on a hot day. So away from all that sh*t....... Well done Frank, super well done my son. Next season we will be the champions of the premier league, for a sixth time.
June 26, 20206 yr What is going to take to get Gilmour some playing time? There were plenty of opportunities for Chelsea to capitalize on City’s poor passing however Barkley was too slow. How does Gilmour go from MOM the last two games pre-COVID to benchwarmer over the likes of Barkley?

June 26, 20206 yr "... and have Liverpool won it without spending millions like rivals such as Chelsea and Man City?" BBC News reporter just now. Unbelievable. ????

I knew he was a special player, I wonder if at least half of those that thought that we signed him only because of marketing since he's from the US have changed their minds by now, he's a great player. Imagine how much better Pulisic will be playing with Werner, Ziyech and Gilmour. The speed and play making ability of those players will be tough for opposing teams to match up. It will be like a track meet. 56 minutes ago, coco said: I never watched the game, i could imagine how it would be, and decided i didn't need to get mad on a hot day. June 26, 20206 yr Massive result and an impressive performance, it's a pity all the undeserved attention is on liverpool winning the league because we did our parts. Apart from the goal and the counter attack resulted in Sterling hitting the post, we didn't allow them other clear goal cut chances. Considering how many chances they had against us in the past league games in the last 2-3 seasons, we did pretty well defensively. We created more chances, and we seemed to play at a higher pace, cut out lots of the unnecessary walking pace side way passes. Pullisic looks like the new signing we badly needed, cool finish and seemed to find the space at the right moment. Willian is playing well, keeps reminding us he deserves a new deal. The striker rotation made differences, Giroud held up the ball well, and Tammy gave the defenders a different test. I know it's only 2 games, but the forced break did us some good.

June 26, 20206 yr I don't mind the adulation Liverpool are getting as they are the Champions, its the love fest for City that gets me. Before the match it was "Oh their bench could win the league, oh they completely dominate games and Oh they have been fantastic since the break!". Frank and the new Chelsea are going under the radar and that suits me just fine. All the great teams teams start somewhere and I feel something is happening in front of our very own eyes. We beat Liverpool just before the break and now we have beaten City. These victories build confidence and give the players the freedom to use their talents. They also give Frank confidence and belief. The players can see that they can beat the best if they play to the plan and listen to Frank. It starts somewhere and I feel this is the start. We need to keep this going and get CL qualification. We are now favourites to do just that. Frank will be so pleased.

Superb. The guy isn't consistent. I'm happy for him to stay but if the club got an offer of around £40m they should sell. Arsenal or Spurs might take him. He does a job in midfield when called upon but his performances don't make his selection automatic.

He tired towards the end but he tracked his runners well and was great in our first half counters. I think he is playing the best he has played since he joined by a long way. He actually looks like a player who can add something to the squad atm.

Barkley had our highest pass percentage with 95% and has been one of our better performers in the last 4 games. He came on and changed the game against Villa even though he didnt' have a goal or an assist. Barkley is benching Kovacic not gilmour. The person benching Gilmour is Kante in the holding role. I think gilmour didn't start due to our tactics and of course his experience. We will have the lad for the next 10 years at least , and he will get plenty of minutes this season due to the amount of games and less recovery time. I don't understand the need to forcefully play him. P.s Gilmore has more minutes than Jorginho since the restart of the season Edited June 26, 20206 yr by The Don Antonio
