July 19, 20205 yr I thought he was very poor when he came on, he didn't match the rest of the teams desire from what I could see. The only time he sprung to life was when it looked like he could get a chance to score. There were a few loose passes that shouldn't have happened, it was like he wasn't fully concentrated. Also, the penalty he gave away was really sloppy, which is made even worse after Lampard warned the players about making tackles in the penalty area.

July 20, 20205 yr Very hard to judge on 10-15 minute opportunities, but his attitude or approach really seems off. Doesn’t have anywhere the workrate of Willian or Pedro. Comparing to Pulisic who is just two years older feels like 5+ years in experience. Terrible injury and he deserves time. Cho also needs to play with a smile on his face. He looks miserable out there, and that’s not good enough for me.

Pulisic needed to adapt to a new league and was performing for BVB up until Sancho became popular. For obvious reasons, CHO hasn't had the opportunities to get lots of minutes, but the minutes he has played he looks disinterested and lazy.

Agree, he doesn't need to go out on loan, with Willian going (and yes, he is going, accept it) and Pedro off, why do we need to loan out CHO? He'll get plenty of gametime.
July 20, 20205 yr Not exactly sure where this bad narrative comes from, players with bad attitudes aren't as well liked by their teammates as Callum quite evidently is. Edited July 20, 20205 yr by Argo
July 20, 20205 yr Penalty aside (and to be fair he was back defending in his own box - re: complaints about his effort), I thought he looked quite lively when he came on. He's clearly a bit desperate for a goal but I don't view today's performance as particularly damning.
July 20, 20205 yr Thing I find with CHO is that he only seems interested or comes alive when attacking. He’s only bothered if there’s a chance to score. Outside of that, he seems abit lazy.

Apparently he doesn't smile and doesn't run like a headless chicken. He needs to step up, I fully agree with that, but to ascribe personality traits to him based on a subjective view how a "properly motivated" player should look, is a bit silly.

He made Matic look like a league 2 player when he skipped by him, if he wasn’t so desperate to snatch at the chance he’d probably have scored that. I also wish people would get over the contract sh*te. I wasn’t happy with it at the time as I don’t think any young player deserves that much. However, you need to consider the circumstances and the club deemed him worthy and most importantly - it’s not your money. So accept that he’s paid a lot of money and move on, using it as a stick to beat him as soon as you think he’s had a subpar performance is getting tedious. Edited July 20, 20205 yr by EdinburghBlue
July 20, 20205 yr I thought he was good when he came on, snatched at his shot following great work in the box but he just needs a good run of games. A full pre-season for him and RLC will do them the world of good.

Did you see how Pedro ran all the way back to reclaim the ball off Bruno when United had us under pressure in the last few minutes? When you come on as a winger in a game where you're 3-0 up, you at least spend your energy working hard and helping out your teammates until the clock runs down. Really poor attitude. It might come across harsh but his attitude really pissed me off, and on top of that made the most clumsy challenge in the box, all he had to do was show Martial on to his left and just not let him cut inside. Our own CB can't even do that against Yarmolenko but we're expecting a 19 year old attacker to easily do it against on of the most in form forwards in the league? I'm not holding this against him. Can't sit here moaning he doesn't track back then moan when he actually does.
July 20, 20205 yr Little lack of concentration on the penalty, but I won't hold it against him. The challenge for him again is the hype. People are expecting fully formed Eden Hazard when he is actually just 19. If you recall Eden even in his first two years here he didn't run a lot off the ball, he was selfish, he didn't track back but he grew and developed and Callum will do the same.
July 20, 20205 yr I'm not convinced he's the real deal, but surely we should have learned from how badly we messed up with Salah and KDB. Given him another year or two and if he's still not producing then move him on. Also, i really could care less about stuff like him not playing with a smile on his face. Besides, how many players do or have done that? Kante, Zola spring to mind but not many others.
July 20, 20205 yr I don't care about yesterdays penalty. I was at a time where it really didn't matter and as a very young winger I don't think CHO did much defensive training at all in his career. That comes with experience and yesterdays game was the perfect moment to learn something. Our formation probably didn't suit him well either yesterday, but I believe he was brought on to give other players a rest.
July 20, 20205 yr Frank only seems to bring him on these days when the game is finished, tells me everything i need to know right now. He doesn't trust him yet, especially as his workrate seems poor. Edited July 20, 20205 yr by jack_super_class

I don't think it is a case of Frank not trusting him.

Still no reason to be so negative, you don't just return back to full fitness after a long term achilles injury. Again, Willian and Pulisic have the match fitness which Callum will get if he plays more often, even if it is from the bench.

He's been back longer from the achilles injury than he was out in the first place. RLC is playing more than him at the moment. His injury was worse and more long term. CHO simply isn't proving himself to Lampard and Lampard has alluded to that in interivews and the fact he simply isn't getting game time when it matters. You are just simply wrong if you think this has anything to do with his Achilles injury Edited July 20, 20205 yr by bisright1
