It could cost him 4 league matches and a place in the Euros now that Southgate has got the excuse that he hasn't played enough minutes.

Awaiting another petulant Instagram story aimed at Southgate when it’s announced no doubt. One step forward, two steps back. This whole ‘reactive’ behaviour seems to run in the family, it’s probably also part of what makes him and Lauren so great, but ultimately not what we need right now as captain. Recency bias may be playing a part with that judgement as JT also had his moments, but given the new Chelsea context and circumstances it feels different. 

    f**king Hell Reece. Come on. If you are the captain you act like the captain. He tolerates absolutely no contact. He just loses his sh*t. And he is unavailable all the time. Now he is out probably 3 games from next season as well. He let the team down massively today. Conor for me is the captain.

    If James is free from injury and available, it beggars belief that Southgate can pick 33 players and Reece isn't one of them. Especially when others he has picked are similarly lacking minutes and match fitness ...

    A few months ago  just after James's operation ,there was a headline on that " London Football site"..

    " Reece James back at the training ground"

    I thought " f**king hell that's quick"

    Yeah he was back at the training ground...on a visit to chat to teammates.

    Not since JT,Lamps, A Cole and J Cole days have we had around 4 players picked at any one time and any mistake is highlighted ridiculously.

    Whereas media favourite clubs like Liverpool have anyone with 2 decent weeks in the squad.

    Honestly, an injured Maguire over Levi Colwill, Reece not even in the 33 to see how fit he is, Chilwell not even in the 33 - I’m sure he’s more fit than Luke Shaw.

    I honestly wouldn’t put it past Southgate to leave Cole Palmer out and choose Maddison instead.

    He's already fir, isn't he? He was getting game time at the end of last season. It's just the ban that is the issue. Won't be playing until September realistically so got 3 months to get up to peak performance now.

    Being without RJ for the first 4 games isnt a problem. We are used to it.

    It is more of a problem being without him for the inevitable 15-25 games he will miss later in the season when he gets injured after Val looks at him the wrong way....

    Wrap Reece in Cotton wool as he should be given a protected status. Our last truly world-class player. 

    Delighted he isnt at the euros being mismanaged by Southgate. England's loss is CFC's gain next season I hope, should he stay fit over the summer...

    I am a bit disappointed to not be able to support some of our lads in the england squad. But with Reece in particular i am kind of relieved knowing that if he went he could get injured and mess up next season.

    Southgate would be mad to leave Palmer out. Been a player of the season contender, plus if we get into a shootout there is only one other player in that squad as cool from the penalty spot as him.
