January 8, 20215 yr From the Sun originally so take with a pinch of salt: http://www.thehardtackle.com/news/2021/01/08/transfer-news-chelsea-make-u-turn-on-fikayo-tomori-transfer-stance/ (Assuming there's any truth to it) this has to mean he is getting game time otherwise it's completely useless. We're just getting in the way of a very talented young defender making any kind of meaningful progress in his career.
January 8, 20215 yr I think if he doesn’t play this weekend it’s pretty much confirmed he’s off this window, on loan. I’m just repeating something that everybody already know.
January 8, 20215 yr I just dont get this whole situation. Id have Tomori as 3rd choice CB, ahead of Rudi.
January 8, 20215 yr Should have listened to mount and got some of Franks nude would of been invaluable in this situation Edited January 8, 20215 yr by Brutos

They certainly both seem more comfortable on the ball, although Zouma has started spraying those cross-field passes a bit more recently, with...mixed... success. Whoever plays next to Silva needs to have pace though, so Zouma and Tomori are prime candidates.
January 8, 20215 yr "Are you insinuating that Mount gets into the team not because of his performances but other reasons? " I think he's a start every other game type of player, who'd have trouble getting in Liverpool, City, or even United's sides. But for some reason FL treats him as a player he has to adjust all of tactics for.
January 8, 20215 yr I didn't want Tomori to be completely frozen out but there's a lot of rewriting of history when it comes to him, before he was dropped he was making a lot of mistakes but unlike with Christensen (under Conte) he was luckily not getting punished. And let's skip the bit where we pretend he would have been granted the patience to play himself back into form.

Another player who’s become better through not playing. I remember him giving the the ball away lots with poor passes and making some silly tackles. If Christensen can get a million and one chances to show he’s got what it takes though then I don’t get why Tomori can’t get a handful. Completely understand why he wouldn’t be happy and want to leave but hopefully Frank starts giving him a chance.

The thing with Christensen is he has actually shown he CAN be a top tier CB, all be it not on a consistent basis since pre Barca gate. Even now he has the occasional masterclass where he does everything right (Sevilla, City last season and Baku examples of the top of my head) and even games where he channels his inner Luiz and has an good-excellent game but ruins it with one moment of madness. Also to add to that centre backs tend to mature and dust of cobwebs later than any other position which is why I've been reluctant to totally dismiss him, look a John Stones (who stylistically is similar to AC) with City for example, he was done months ago and has now dislodged Laporte (who last season was considered second only to VVD).
January 9, 20215 yr Tomori had 1 bad game when he played almost like a full back, what other game did he play bad in order for us to compare him with someone like Christensen?

Off the top of my head Lillie away he made two shocking late mistakes that ironically Kepa bailed him out from then at Southampton he looked shaky but as a team we won comfortably so it went largely unnoticed. Then the game after that against Newcastle he nearly put Joelinton clean through with the blindest of blind backpasses but Zouma quickly realised what was happening and got him out of jail and outside of that they're was also other incidents of him switching off in that period, the fact none of his mistakes cost us shouldn't distract from the fact he was making a lot of them. As I said I didn't want him to be totally frozen out but there's a lot of rewriting of history when it comes to him.

No just no. He's shown nowhere near anything that he can be a top tier cb. Those games you mentioned are clutching. There's more of a case for Kepa being a top class keeper. Christensen is easily our 4th best cb. I cant judge Tomori as the kid gets no game time but my god what an awful cb Christensen is. Worst attribute is how weak he is both defensively and offensively. He's not even a threat from corners. I would never pick him to start a league game again.

They have Kjaer who has been brilliant, Romangoli is their cap, 3rd choice Kalulu is an interesting prospect. At best he is going in to compete with Mussachio as 4th choice CB. Don’t know if Brighton or Newcastle are after CBs, or a move to the Bundesliga.
January 13, 20215 yr I don't see how he will get minutes in Milan, they're 1st in the league and running very well this season. He needs a loan where he will be playing regularly, if he's going to be 3rd or 4th choice, then he can stay with us and fight for his place. I still believe that he can easily be our first backup, he has a lot of potential and he just needs that experience to become a decent PL CB.
January 17, 20215 yr Said there’s no obligation to buy, does that mean we can refuse to sell him if he’s had a breakout season at Milan? I hope so.

Usually it means they can choose not to buy, giving them the power to decide is what sweetens the deal. What I want to know is if the player will agree the deal beforehand or can he refuse to move when the time comes.
