Mason Mount

Featured Replies

Mount fell ‘relatively nicely’, in that he does not seem to have his ankle twisted or yanked in some weird direction.  He even gets up seemingly pain free by the way he is walking upfield.  Strange injury, no wonder I did not notice it at the time, along with the TV commentators.  Hopefully just a mild sprain.  Cannot see an Achilles injury in that clash with the opponents and with Dave.

Early speculation is similar injury to Rom vs Malmo and expected to be out around 4 to 6 weeks.

Massive loss for us if he's out for that long.

Even when he isn't having his best of games he still works hard for the team, presses the opposition really well something none of the other attacking players are particularly good at.

From memory it's only been used three times (Atletico, Villarreal and Spurs in pre season) but on all occasions I thought the trio of Werner/Kai/Ziyech worked really well.

It won't happen but in Mount's absence I wouldn't mind that combination getting a run of games, especially if Ziyech keeps up his recent run of form.

No chance of the club's record signing and top goal scorer being left out.

I'm well aware the Lukaku favrotism will mean we'll probably never see it I'm just saying that's what I'd like to see as it's looked very good whenever it's been tried.

Well my old buddy @Munkworth I guess he needs my help again.

Brilliant movement and wonderful passing to get him there but those chances today blimey if he did not make Timo look deadly with those finishes.

TAA was even ready to turn back towards the center circle he was so sure he could not miss the second one.

The key difference here was Mount managed to stay onside

He could have been the hero of yesterday. He had a decent performance, but missed two big chances.

I really hope this is part of his development, he has to be mentally strong to continue to perform.

Keep it up Mason!

His shooting is one of his weakest parts of his game.

I would say it's more composure than shooting, because he is probably one of the best strikers of the ball in the team. I go back to what I said a few months ago, I think some of Mount's game has been hurt from his time in the Championship. It made him stronger for sure and he learned how to press effectively, but because it's such a non stop, all action league, it's hard to develop important parts of the game like composure on the ball. A lot of the players promoted from the Championship tend to be scrappy type of players and I feel Mount bought a lot of that part of his game to us. It's a good thing to have because it teaches a player to fight for every ball, but it can also be a negative in certain areas too.

Aye we all know Timo looks like Messi with his finishing when offside, but when onside...well see Mason yesterday lol.

Worst part of his misses for me is who it meant we lost too. He really needs to work on his composure. That second one the pool backline gave up on. He had all the time in the world to beat a backup keeper and was really poor he did not.

I thought he played much better when Tuchel switched to a more 352 and he played a bit deeper.

Mount is definitely our most versatile player, he has played in 200 different role and did very well in most of them. It is just such a shame to have Mount playing as fw where you can see how effective he is when he play as a midfielder.

I'd love to see Rice/Tchouameni + Gallagher and Mount as a midfield 3. The energy levels would be off the charts :-)

beat the keeper, just didn't beat the post. Any other day it would have probably hit the post and gone over the line and then would have been hailed as a brilliant goal....but he should have buried it for sure.

I can imagine a very fun 352 with mount and gallagher keep making run from deep.

Great assist for Mount today.

He's slowly becoming one of my favorite Chelsea players, not because of his pure talents but because of his heart.

You can tell that his heart is always BLUE. Every time Chelsea score, he's one of the first players to jump for joy. Whether he's on the pitch, sitting on the bench, or standing in the stands; his reactions is always the same. I guess that's what it meant to be an academy kid and why you lads love him so much.

Top Chelsea man, complete love for the club.

And when you consider the swamp town he was born In he has done amazingly well. Keep it up Mase 👏
