Azpi is 5.8", Soucek 6'2" - Christensen seems to mark whoever won't outmuscle him... go figure

I would give Tammy 10 minutes in the second half and then hook him if things don't improve. Azpi needs to start defending better, that's twice he has allowed them Soucek in those positions.

As much as I like frank as I’m sure we all do, this defending goes back to the manager, it’s impossibly bad, he needs new defensive coaches in 

Do they even practice defending corners?

I feel they don't. We have zero natural defending leadership. Rudiger needlessly gave away that corner with some high class blundering. West Ham have only their corners and freekicks do we can't give them away.

When are we going to actually get better at defending set pieces? We've been appaling at them for so long now.

absoulutely furious.. if Kepa doesnt come darting in... he catches it...

Our defenders panic as soon as they have anything to do whether it’s clearing the ball or passing forward.

Rudiger is a f**king idiot for kicking that for a corner and not a throw but Kepa is the weakest goalie I’ve ever watched. He’s so weak and timid on corners and everything, I hope we get a replacement for him because the league seems to be way too physical for him. 

Chelsea had some good luck with the VAR overturn by the slightest margin and Pulisic drawing a penalty there.  But they seem to be determined to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

At this point, I am not convinced it's the defenders; but rather it's the d"efensive coach" that is the culprit. These are EPL defenders that defend like Championship level defenders.

Marina should spend some money this summer and bring in a much more capable assistant coach to teach this team how to defend like an EPL top 4 team.

 

 

Yet again. I’m actually f**king sick of watching that. We are the worst side I’ve ever seen defend set pieces. EVERY SINGLE ONE looks like it’s going to be a goal. They’ve had two and scored twice. Frank and Jody have done well so far but if they don’t sort that out they’re in big trouble.

what can a manager do with a Keeper like that and defenders who sh*t their pants everytime they have to mark someone..

Very awful first half, we are not in the game. Not in attack and not in defense. 

I can't name one player that deserves to stay on the pitch, maybe only Kante.

Lampard must slap them in face in the dressing room, we must wake up. We have a huge chance to gain important points, we can't let it slip from us.

We deserved nothing in this half, if we won't improve our performance West Ham will get their points and it will be disappointing.

The defenders are embarrassing themselves in 90% of our games. Just look at them, they are panicking with every single set piece. We seriously need better defenders or better defensive coaching, because we are one of the worst teams at defending in the league. We concede multiple chances from set pieces in every game. This is the worst defense I have seen in my time as Chelsea fan, it's too mentally weak and prone to mistakes.

Embarrassing defensive play school boy stuff that was.  It was put in the same place as the corner before it

Sitting watching that thinking ok, 1-0 is about right we've not been great but we're better than them and then Rudiger scuffs the ball out for a corner and Kepa runs into the back of his own player while their guy wins the header. Why oh why oh why are we so poor defending set pieces??????

Typical from us. No efficiency at all. Need to make couple of changes. Barkley has been totally useless and so has Tammy as well. And I don't see the reason playing Kante on the pitch against these lessor teams which are not trying to keep the ball. We need to be much quicker going forward.

On the bright side this surely is the last straw for Kepa and our CBs? The window has just opened and there should be plenty of time to get someone better in.
