April 5, 20233 yr Last time we appointed an ex chelsea legend on an interim basis mid season......something special happened.
April 5, 20233 yr Unfortunately this reeks of bad management by the owners and it leaves a bad taste. why go one full circle from lampard to Tuchel and back to lamps again. It does seem tho it means we may already have a manager secured who’s only coming next season.

April 5, 20233 yr Ideally Enrique or Nagelsman would come in now, either they're not up for that or the board aren't OR obviously they wouldn't be appointing Frank on a very short term agreement as an INTERIM we are gonna end 11th or 10th in EPL, highly unlikely we'd face a relegation fight, the CL is just a bonus punt for the club right now, we all know its long odds to progress to a massive semi in that comp So suggest we relax, don't get mad at results and hope SFL can do something decent with his remaining 9 EPL matches So Welcome Back Chelsea Legend and once sacked manager - Super Frankie Lampard !!!
April 5, 20233 yr I'm glad to see him back but... Players let him down before... players let him down at Everton... Let's hope the boys truly give everything this time... and he's learned something from his previous experience. Personally I hope he picks the 20 or so he wants to work with and puts the others on garden leave so we can have decent training sessions and develop a bit of team spirit and get back up the table a bit. April 5, 20233 yr This decision can't hurt. We're not going down and we're not going to Europe next season so if Frankie can, at very least, right the ship go for it. A few results will certainly build some much needed and sorely lacking confidence, Besides, Lamps has all the gear from his first time around so no need to outfit him again. 😁

April 5, 20233 yr If you told me a week ago we'd have Lamps until the end of the season I would've bit off your hand. From the board's perspective it's the most logical move. Appoint a club legend someone to instantly connect with the fans and in this case a lot of the players. For Lamps and Ashley it's an opportunity at greatness once again. I'm sure JT will be around, and I think with their champions league winning experience, past winners both coaches and players working together. It's a special connection, especially with a point to prove from both sides. They will try and have a decent crack. We have nothing to lose, so we will play with no fear. This is the closest to the old Chelsea we can get right now. I'm not expecting anything special, but that doesn't mean I don't believe something special won't happen. Our champions league winner is still in the squad as is the player who played the pass. One would say it's a better squad, I think Felix assumes the Werner role and KOs out Madrid. Then on to the finals where Mudyrk gets the winner. Or maybe its the other way around. Either way it's confirmed we're winning the Champions League 🏆
April 5, 20233 yr Not going to lie I would rather we had Potter in charge until the CL campaign was over. Let him sink with his ship. Of course I hope Frank can topple RM then BM and Napoli, but realistically were not getting past RM, and Frank will have to wear the defeat.
April 5, 20233 yr He’s probably my favourite ever player and for me he’s our greatest ever player but I’m worried about this. This won’t be a clean slate, he likely fell out with a few of those players in the dressing room and I know Everton are not in a good place club wise but he did not do well there at all. I dont see us beating Madrid, we don’t have the personalities on the pitch like we did under Robbie. I just hope this doesn’t go badly wrong for him.
April 5, 20233 yr Again, it's all about timing and public perception, something Boehly and his mates have no clue. Let's say Potter was sacked after Southampton, and Lampard in the next day, at least looked it shows they had a reaction and plan. Sacking Potter after Villa when most of us thought he'd last until the CL tie was over, followed by Bruno in charge for a game ( nothing against him at all), now looks like Lampard will do an interim because nobody else will take the job now. Let's say Enrique is ready to take over after 2 weeks, do we farewell Lampard and let Enrique in, or we wait for Naglesmann? It's a messy sitcom from day 1, and still a few episodes left before the season ends.

I don't give a flying f what the gen pub/media think whats right for CFC. SFL makes a lot of sense right now, espec if we have locked in a replacement for the start of next season. He'll defo raise a smile or two in the dressing room and Mounty will be chuffed to have his mentor back in house. There should be no expectation that we will win the CL or even qualify for Europe at this late stage so its a free pass. Get behind this appointment and the decision, it does make sense.
April 6, 20233 yr I'm so conflicted on this, to be honest. I feel like we are trying to instill positivity in these players when I think what they really need is authority and a good kick up the ass. Then you look at Franks recent track record, it's not great is it. Top it off with how bad his defensive structure was here at the time, there were holes upon holes in the defence, our organisation was all to pot. However, saying all that, this could potentially work. The good part about all this is that he is an interim, I'm happy with that at least. No matter how good he does here it should go no further than that. Maybe he might actually get the attack going and instill some confidence going forward. I can at least see some logic in this if the club is struggling to get interim managers and wants to get someone in the summer. I'll wait and see how it goes, I can't say I'm over the moon with it, but I can see some logic in the appointment given that it's an interim job.
April 6, 20233 yr Happy about that. Lampard is a good choice to stop this "the boys gave everything" mindset that has crept into the team. We need someone passionate who loves the club now.
April 6, 20233 yr I find this bizarre, and I say this as someone who adores Frank and was gutted when he was sacked a few years back. I'm sure bringing in Frank will lift the spirits of the club, but I just don't understand what the rationale is for bringing him in.

Boehly misdirection as the club's finances are in freefall and we needed someone with experience to manager the incoming transfer ban for failing FFP?

And I thought things were crazy under Abramovich.
April 6, 20233 yr Frank the player was absolutely the greatest. Frank the manager not so much. Sacked at Chelsea after a season, sacked at Everton after a year. His record is far worse than Potter's. He doesn't do a press conference that much better either. He will give the young players a run and as mentioned Mount will probably be happy and Arizabalaga less so. Kovacic and Kante who knows. To me its weird but no weirder than a lot of other stuff going on at Chelsea. What I think we need right now: 1. a consistent formation, I don't think Lampard generally plays a 3 at the back does he? We played 3 at the back and 5 in midfield last game, I dont think that's a great formation either really, at least not for scoring goals. It looks pretty though and lets us play Tiki Taka a la spain in Russia. 2. For the attackers to have some confidence and to work as a group, felix has been playing far too much as an indivdual. In general for the team to look like a team. 3. Actually not overplaying Havertz and Enzo or Chiller. Havertz needs a game off and enzo as well. I would definitely have half the team sit out of the next league game.
April 6, 20233 yr Welcome home Frank! This is interim - while the Chelsea circus continues, honestly, Frank's leadership, understanding of the club, character, and overall standards are a good thing. We need someone like Frank right now, and I am very pleased to read this news.
April 6, 20233 yr I’m not convinced that this is the right move, and I say this while I hated the fact that we didn’t give him more time the first time, but at least the stands will be happy and we get to sing “Super Frankie Lampard!”
