Well, forcing a move through to a London rival the day before the transfer window closes, 4 days before our opening fixture, in a period where we are restricted with a transfer ban.

To add additional context, this is a player who the club recently bent their stern rules to accommodate, by rewarding him with a new 2 year contract just 3 months ago, despite him being 32.

None of the above is speculation.

The speculation would be him calling in 'sick' for training and having a row with Frank because he was told he would have to fight for his place like everyone else. We won't know the details, but it's pretty damn obvious that we as a club didn't plan for it to play out like this. Something happened.

You may think booing ex players is pathetic. That's your opinion. Gallas played a big part in our success and was boo'd by 40 odd thousand in Stamford Bridge back in 2006. It happens.

Ultimately, respect is a two way street, and it worth noting that players who have conducted themselves well, such as Lamps, Cech and Mata returned to a hero's welcome.

TBF though the above is speculation, we dont know if there has actually been a bust up or if it was a simple "look mate you arent going to be first choice so you can either be backup or we are happy for you to leave if you want to seek more minutes" hands shaken and off with the clubs blessing..

The 2 year contract was under the previous manager and also stopped him leaving for free, this could have all been agreed ages ago and Arse had been dragging their heels to make it look like a coup from a rival club...

We are always very quiet about internal goings on (which is frustrating at times) but the point is we dont know how this panned out,

FWIW I think he has been a great player for us and I like seeing him on the pitch (although he does pucker the arse at times) but I feel we have 3 better defenders than him so happy to see him leave and if he is settled in London then fair play

Where has it been stated that David Luiz forced his way out? I won´t hold my breath as to any proof beyond a reasonable doubt.

It seems to me that you are so used to the volatile nature of how Chelsea Football Club has been run in the past you are not willing to accept a plan to build a team that will not contend for one season but for the next 15.

As for booing Luiz when he returns I guess when we want so show the world and all the players that would consider signing for us in the future this is how we treat the players who have been part of some of our must successful teams than that´s your choice. It´s as if the only options are to throw a parade in celebration or hate him on all fronts. If you don´t like the way he left, simply skip that game mate.

All of which are just excuses to hate on him, with little to no regard to his achievements with the club.

No, these aren't excuses, these are facts. Lampard's accomplishments with the club are much bigger and more important, yet his situation was very different. He wasn't wanted, he wasn't offered a new contract and he decided to leave for City.

Luiz was given an extension only three months ago. If he lost his place in the starting eleven to another player, it's up to him to prove the manager wrong on the pitch and in training and get his spot back. Instead, he threw a fit and demanded to be sold, knowing full well the club can't replace him in this transfer window.

These aren't excuses to hate on him, as you put it, but valid points showing him to be an entitled egotistical twat who has no real respect for the club that turned him into a star.

I think the issue I have is the timing. It just doesn't stack up for me.

He has been a key figure in pre-season, and I just don't see that the club would have planned it to play out like this, with him leaving this late in the day, 4 days before we play our first game.

It has played out as a bit of a drama, and certainly appears to have unsettled the camp as a whole.

But you are right, we will never know the finer details of what happened.

I have always been a fan of David Luiz myself, and I am sad it is ending as it is.

What "proof" are you hoping anyone can provide?

Do you think the club asked him to move to Arsenal, 4 days before the season starts, 3 months after awarding him a new contract?

I appreciate there is a certain amount of speculation involved, but we should also be allowed to engage our brains and connect the most simple of dots here.

The rest of your post is a bit weird to be honest, so not really sure what to say.

Don't worry though mate, I can put your mind at rest on one point that you are fretting about; when a player considers signing for Chelsea in the future, I can assure you that Luiz (potentially) getting a few boo's whilst playing for a rival team in a derby, will be about number 1167996796 on their list of concerns. Chill.

Oh and finally,  where did I even say I wanted to boo Luiz? I invite you to provide evidence "beyond reasonable doubt" please.

You are well within your rights connecting dots on a whim.

I´m simply producing content for those that do not wish to accuse a player of treason (as it is painted out in this thread) based on a series of dots.

I think it´s very plausible that we played out the pre-season. Frank made his assessment of the team, told Luiz that he will not be a starter this year and his role will only decrease in the future and they agreed that the best way to move forward was to find him a new club. There´s no point in keeping a player in the squad that won´t have his mind set on the target. Does that undo everything that this man has done on the pitch in a Chelsea shirt?

I swear to god I wish I was living in the days where it was possible to wait a week to get the real story instead of creating alternative news just to have something to argue about every 5 minutes.

Everything you wrote is speculation. It may have been clear to Luiz longer than to us that he would get limited playing time,  so he could have handed in a transfer request as is his right before we were aware of it. That may have been the reason he wasn't playing in the last two friendlies. Contract extensions are no guarantee a player is staying, especially not with a new manager coming in, which is what happened. It just means he will not go cheaply or on a free.

The transfer request will have given both Luiz and CFC the opportunity to find him a new club and to negotiate. We are in no position to buy a replacement, nor did we send someone like Zouma, Emerson or Tomori on loan only to find ourselves short of defenders, so why be upset about his timing. The alternative would be having an unhappy influential senior player. That hardly seems preferable.

There is no evidence David Luiz acted "disrespectful" or conducted himself disgracefully. Perhaps in the future we will find out what happened, but for now he deserves our gratitude and respect, not anger and booing.

Clearly Luiz is not happy at something that has happened since he signed the extension.  The reason(s) for that unhappiness is speculation.

I think the message is that Frank wants defenders who can defend, whereas Sarri wanted someone who could play balls out of the back.  The priorities in system and style of play will be different.  And as for defending, Luiz is a 32 year old guy with little pace who is prone to rash actions and lapses in concentration.  Even his free kicks have become unproductive.  I was surprised we gave him a 2 year extension, likely because we were backing Sarri.

I like that the move helps establish Lampard's authority as boss, and that personal relationships won't influence footballing decisions.  If Lampard comes in and says all the young players have an equal shot at playing, then the best players have to play.  And he said he only wanted players that wanted to be Chelsea players.  It seems for all the positive comments Luiz had about Chelsea were only true while he was playing.  If he truly meant them, I think he would have stayed and fought for his place, showing leadership by respecting Lampard's decision and working to prove him wrong.

Well it isn't, but ok.

I personally find it very unlikely that the club would have chosen for this to play out as it did, with us seemingly panic selling a senior player to a direct rival for £8M on transfer deadline day.

But yeah, we are all entitled to form our own opinion on what is most likely to have happened...

You just don't what happened and you are assuming. The two could very well be in great terms but Luiz just decided he is not playing second fiddle like he did Conte's second season or like Cahill did last term.
Any chance the hold up is because he is taking Willian with him?

Too much to ask I know...
I heard someone read somewhere that someone overheard Arsenal are in sore need of two midfield dynamo's and they have 85m to spend. They are ready to splash the Cash for Bakayoko and Drinkwater. Marina is trying to get a cool 100m so that is holding up the talks. I will update as soon as someone hears or thinks they have seen something.

Lol not even Arsenal are that stupid.

I think when he comes back to Stamford Bridge and fans want to boo him it’s ok.

I don’t want us rolling out the red carpet for him and if a little booing (nothing nasty of course) puts him off his game or if he slices his clearances and we cheer it’s all fair game.

We can show him appreciation at the end of the match if fans want to, but during the match I want him to have as an uncomfortable 90 mins as possible.

He plays for Arsenal now and I want Chelsea to win that day so I think booing during the match is fair game if it helps us.

That would be why I said "I find it unlikely" as opposed to "this did/didn't happen".....

Well, if he signs with them in the next 50 minutes he does. So far, he's still our player.

By forcing this move, Luiz has tainted his legacy for me. Forcing a move to a rival team 1 day before the window closes, when we have a transfer ban is a dick move in my opinion. I'm equally as annoyed with the club for giving him what he wants. We have gained nothing from this move. £8m gets you nowhere in todays market. We have weakened our own squad and helped a direct rival strengthen their squad.  I would honestly rather Luiz rot in the reserves than sell him to them for pretty much nothing.

100% Agreed

I read somewhere that he makes right around 12 million per year in wages, so we are saving that money as well.  Helps dull the sting of a 8 million fee.

Considering its deadline-day and Arsenal were desperate 8 million for him seems very, very low. He had to go by all accounts and i support the decision but it does leave us in a difficult situation. Christensen-Zouma did not look good together in pre-season and now they will be our CBs for at least a couple of months until Rudiger gets up to speed. Good chance for Tomori to make a name for himself though.

I think the £8m fee if true tells us everything we need to know about this deal, we just want rid.
