Eden Hazard - Chelsea Legend

Is it bad that I would absolutely love this?

I get why and if I thought he could have had an impact even to the extent of Drogs of 14/15 my heart would have took over aswell.

But there's a reason Real have been giving him nothing but pity minutes for quite some time now, he wasn't even seen as an option to mix things up tactically.

I'd rather just leave his legacy be, furthermore him coming back and inevitably flopping would give fuel to the people would thought he wasn't that good in the first place.

The big question for me is would he be good around the training ground. I have no problem with us bringing him back with a view that he can support some of the younger talent, work on his fitness.

Who knows he might have one last dance in him.

I was laughed at for suggesting we should look at Willian on a free as back up and there's people that are all for this?

Willian is still playing at a high level and looks fit whereas Hazard has been in major decline since he left us.

Sentiment aside, we would be foolish to bring him back.

No. He's not a top footballer anymore, his career has been one of the biggest declines I can remember in terms of where he was to where he is today.

A legend but his time is well and truly over at the top.

I feel his 'relaxed' approach to training would be counterproductive in this period, especially with Poch coming in and trying to lay a marker with discipline and hard work. Peak Hazard you can turn around and say "yeah but look at what he gives at a weekend" but it will set a very dangerous precedence if one of the least productive players are being granted an exception.

That said ofcourse i wouldn't be against him returning to the club in some capacity, maybe as an ambassador or (if he's interested) part of the coaching staff for one of our reserve/academy sides but a playing capacity is a big no no for me.

If Poch wants to keep a faitly tight squad size then each member of that squad needs to be able to contribute to the overall. There is no recent evidence to support that Hazard is able to do that. Legend, but no for me.

Plus he is 5 foot 7 so his ceiling is ridiculously low!

Btw whilst we are on the subject (well Hazard lookalikes maybe), watched Strasbourg vs Lyon over the weekend. Rayan Cherki, no thanks. Wand of a left foot but talk about slow, my god!

Won't mind hazard on a six months renewal contract while Nkunku recovers. We can have him play behind the striker in the no 10 role. He might be older and less fit but he is not soo bad that we won't get something out of him. Maybe a 50k deal starting from when he recovers his fitness training under Poch

Seeing as Clearlake have spent most of the last 18 months seemingly intent on removing any last vestige of the Abramovich regime, I highly doubt they'll be making a sympathy play for one of the players most strongly identified with that tenure ...

I know I know I know, but screw everyone I’d have him back in a heartbeat. I doubt he’d play very often but he’d do wonders for the lads behind the scenes.

Many moons ago, when we re-signed The King, I was massively in favour of it. One of the lads that I went to the games with in those days was dead set against it. He was certain Ossie wouldn't contribute anything, and the deal would be a waste of time and money. My mate was proved right. He had correctly judged the move, while I had let my heart rule my head. I'm only a little bit ashamed to admit that, in Eden's case, my heart would win the argument again.

No. He's a legend of the club, but he's barely a professional player any more.

He's now, finally, able to commit himself fully to the one thing that has been truly important in his life. His family. Football was only ever a means to an end. Training was always a very unfortunate, extremely unwelcome necessity. Let him be.

Apparently Eden is open to a move but it's also important to him to spend some time pursuing his new found love of birds of prey - something he enjoyed whilst exploring the Donanos and Cabaneros National Parks during his time with Madrid. Indeed this goes some way to explaining his spectacular drop in form - as his beloved pet bird "Broma" suffered a fatal attack to its stomach in 2021 and left Eden in a state of grief. I guess it's just a story of Hazard's buzzard's gizzard...

Get him for the vibes

6 month contract play him at CAM/LW and let him enjoy the cup games...

No. We need the squad places for the players who aren't first choice in the league, and realistically the cups are the only competitions we can aim for this season. We owe it to @Eight Times

Risk worth taking in my opinion. He was ruined by that scum Madrid, phenomenal player when he left, not saying he will be as good as then, but I still think he could reignite some of his previous form given the right situation/circumstance.

He was never fit. He got away with minimum effort in training for a long time but it finally caught up with him.

Get him back as a club Ambassador sure but not as part of the playing staff.
