March 19, 20188 yr Just now, Phillip said: I see this time and time again, people equate a bad mistake as something that results in a goal for the other team, whereby if that same mistake resulted in no goal due to a great save by our keeper and/or a terrible shot by the other team, or something else, the so-called 'bad mistake' is entirely forgotten and not considered a bad mistake at all. Now, I do not recall if Christensen has such a mistake that could have resulted in a goal for Leicester but did not (I am fairly sure he did not). I'm not having a go at him, actually defended him as being unlucky that he makes one mistake a game which happened to not be saved by team mates and the scorer is clinical, only one mistake during his streak was not punished. So it looks worse than it actually is but it clearly affected him mentally if he has to seek advice for it. He is on the rise and it's unfortunate that something like this happens to knock him, ideally he can build up enough confidence over a long period so nothing can phase him mentally. But like I said he broke that streak yesterday having not conceding any chances via his own mistake although he was close at one point.
March 20, 20188 yr I like his attitude - humble and willing to learn. Even with his mistakes we still don't pick on him which is also a positive sign.

March 23, 20188 yr How is that either embarrassing or puts our club in a bad light? FFS, the embarrassing thing is punters in here taking every opportunity to put the club down

That aside I don't see why his looks suddenly matter to his coach..... Edited March 23, 20188 yr by Barry Bridges And if he's pretty enough for Chelsea he damn well is pretty enough for Denmark!!!!!

Either Luiz needs to get fit again and rediscover last season's form, or we need to replace Luiz with someone who will give Christensen genuine competition (Raul Albiol for me). April 2, 20188 yr For years and years we have been saying we don't give youth a chance. Andreas is young and he is making mistakes. This will happen. It's the cost of the model.

Granted he's not good enough right now, he's by far the best prospect we have of producing a world class player. He's only 21, he's not going to be Cannavaro straight away.
April 2, 20188 yr It's not helping that when we finally do have a prospect coming through, the team is shambles. If he was playing in a side with confidence it could be a whole other story. We're just a side deprived of confidence and will to fight. We have no leaders to give our team a kick in the backside, hell, we don't even have a coach who does this anymore. Christensen is breaking through at the worst possible time, and it seems to be affecting him.
April 2, 20188 yr Stick with him keep playing him, some Chelsea fan's always moan we don't give youth a chance now we are fans want him dropped because he made a few mistakes.
April 2, 20188 yr We got give him a chance, he's making mistakes but who hasn't, even the ever reliable Azpi has been ordinary this year. He doesn't have to play every game, but to abandon him after some mistakes would be criminal. There's no point in investing in youth if we never give them a chance, or drop him as soon as they make mistakes. I do not want see us buying a central defender comes next transfer window. He should learn by his mistakes and he will, this season and the shambles of a team and manager he's playing with, will be a good education. Let's hope JT comes back next season and will progress him further with advice etc. Hope he gets the mistakes out of him, during this wasted season.
April 2, 20188 yr I don't like saying it but he doesn't dominate and lacks decisiveness. Conte said something earlier in the season, when he and the team were playing well, that he needed to develop his personality and he mentioned David Luiz as a role model. I think that is on the button but I'm not sure if Christiansen has it in him to be a top defender, good and all as he is.

He also gets muscled out quite easly. I remember Rondon making him look like a little boy. Even a limited player like Cahill is much better at this part of the game. And of course, errors basically every game. 3 hours ago, CFCholland said: It's not helping that when we finally do have a prospect coming through, the team is shambles. He lacks physical strength, mental toughness and awareness, is prone to mistakes and he contributes f**k all at the attacking end. Nah. More fun to sell him then cry every day in the rivals thread when he does well elsewhere. People constantly call to play youth then the first wobble they crumble.
April 2, 20188 yr Said it before, but he needs an experienced player alongside him. Terry had Desailly when he came through. Christensen doesn't have anyone with that level of experience to help him through tough games. I'd love for us to sign Bonucci, even for just 1 season, just to bring in that experience.
April 2, 20188 yr Wasn't there a stat a few weeks ago talking about us with or without him, and we conceded more when he wasn't in. To critique a 21 year old player who for majority of the season has been our best or second best CB is incredibly harsh and fickle minded.
April 2, 20188 yr AC is an indictment of the team we have become - he would not have got anywhere near playing in the 04/05 & 09/10 teams. Plenty of potential no doubt but still a mile away from walking into a genuine top team.

We're in a rough patch and the moment, he's suffering just like pretty much everyone else.
April 2, 20188 yr Conte has placed way too much responsibility on his young shoulders. Christensen's progress is being jeopardised because of Conte's refusal to change system.
