Chelsea's next manager - evergreen post

No. He will bring Jody with him. Be crazy not to, its the only person he has experience working with in a managerial team.

Plus Jodys acquaintance with the youth team you could almost guarantee he will be part of the package, I can’t think he won’t bring in  someone with lots of experience to advise him however.

I won't fall out with anyone on their views so accept mine, Mourinho as i've said before no, absolutely no, we must have very short memories to realise the carnage he caused twice, Arrogant to the core, petty minded, and lost his way here and horrendously at Utd, a team he goaded us with by saying, i'm at the biggest club i belong here, or words to that effect, im off to Peru in the morning and the rainforest will hide me from this Chelsea turmoil.

"Hasta la proxima vez mis amigos"

Well i'm back from my adventures, and i have managed to keep on top of stories, but as i expected still nothing concrete, just paper hyperbole still..

Nothing towards you for posting it rob, but I think those quotes were known to be bollocks when they were pulled out a lot when he came to us.

I think the only thing that was valid was the Drogba one and he only said he dived a lot.

It was no doubt made by a scouser when Rafa was there.

Something similar happened when Fab joined us.

can understand the apprehension of some over Lampard's lack of managerial experience but there are other areas of experience that can be tapped into as a player at the highest level. He played under a plethora of top managers, all with differing personalities, tactics, training drills and managerial styles - From Redknapp and Ranieri who shaped his development, to Mourinho who ingrained a winning mentality, to the likes of Hiddink and Ancelotti who were masters at managing big personalities and dressing rooms. He will have learned a huge amount, both positive and negative, from the experiences within his playing career.

His experience at Chelsea also has to count for something. It's not as straightforward as 'he knows the club and the fans' it goes far deeper than that. He understands from experience the external, intense media scrutiny that surrounds this club because so little information is provided into the open for journalists, creating constant destabilising speculation. He's experienced first hand the hectic nature of this football club in general, seemingly spiralling from crisis to celebration, from disaster to delirium. He's experienced the build up to big games, cup finals, champions league games, etc, the dressing room environment before and after such games and the experience of both winning and losing in those situations.

I'm fully aware that a top playing career doesn't translate to a top managerial career but there are experiences that a top player can call upon that can really help the cause.

While i do have reservations regarding Frank (mostly that I dont want him to fail or the club to sack him) and hi relative lack of experience I think that he played under many different types of winning manager is possibly the most important thing, I noticed earlier in the thread that someone referenced the class of 92 and their relative lack of managerial success, they only had old red nose as their reference point. Hate him or Loath him he is probably the greatest manager to have ever been in the Prem but he had a style that was unique and a level of control at board level that will never happen again.

So those that have played under him will never be able to replicate his style of management, that SFL has had the greater exposure to different styles should give him a broader platform to build his own style from.

Nobody in that team can say sh!t to Frank. For one he's known most of them personally for years so I'm sure there's already respect there. Secondly he puts them all to shame in terms of talent level and on field achievements so if they don't respect him then who in god's name will they respect?

He's got his badges, he's got more trophies than you can count on your hands and he's arguably the greatest player the club has ever had, I pray someone steps out of line and tries to take him on asap, they won't be around much longer.

I respect Frank Lampard probably more than any other Chelsea player. I suspect all the team will also respect him more than any other Chelsea player. This is fine but he has to earn his respect as a manager. These are two completely different careers and we are just about find out how that goes. Ask Gary Neville, Alan Shearer, Bobby Charlton, Diego Maradona and Tony Adams how that went. It is not a foregone conclusion that Frank will have success and in fact as a top class player he is far more likely to fail at management than a lesser player.

I've bought into Franks return and have faith in his abilities to communicate with the players. He has always presented himself very well in front of the cameras and always makes intelligent comments. He has a very high IQ score of 150. This puts him in the top .5% of most intelligent people. Einstein had an IQ of 160 so Frank is extraordinarily smart. All these things will help him but he still has to learn how deal with a premier league dressing room, a trigger happy board and a media who are just waiting for him to fail. If the results start to slip, the pressure will increase and that is when we will find out if Frank can apply himself to these new circumstances at the highest level. This will be a whole new world for Frank and he will need all the support he can get.

Franks presence at the club will lift the fans and I'm hoping there is a new atmosphere in the stadium from day one. The crowd could respond in a very positive way and generate a lot more noise. Frank has recent history at the club and the younger fans will connect with him just as much as the older fans. I'm hoping Franks return and the boards show of faith in him will generate a new feeling around the club.

COYB.

I’ve got a real ‘buzz’ about this. Not since Jose coming back a few years back have I felt it like this.

It goes against everything Chelsea and Roman have done since coming in so there is a feeling of change on the horizon. Super Frank came first time around with some apprehension and the second time this will be the same but I have faith he will be up to the task.

I would find it funny if he comes here and continues to play Willian, Alonso, Jorginho, etc. A couple of bad results and half the forum will be crying for his head.

And with good reason! But we know that he was hired to do just the opposite....I hope...

But if Frank drops Jorginho, who the hell do we play in mdfield?  With Kovacic going (hip hip) and RLC injured, we'd be down to  Baka, Barkley and Kante. We're aiming for top four, not a relegation fight.

Barkley was in decent form until he got injured and Sarri's absurd rotation policy with him didn't help. With Lamps in charge and regular game time (AND knowing he won't automatically be subbed off after 60 minutes) will make him a new player.

Put yourself in Franks shoes, your'e coming from a Championship team, to a top 3 EPL team, a team that just finished the season with a good run of results and a trophy. If you come in and make wholesale changes straight away, your'e asking for trouble, he will need to change things slowly.

It’s funny to think thatFrankie wasn’t even captain of CFC. I have my doubts but I’m going to hope for the best.

Who wore the armband didn't matter in that team. What mattered  is that from Cech to Drogba, we had not just great players, but great leaders thru the spine of that team.

I feel exactly the same way as you. The excitement of Jose returning six years ago mirrors my current excitement of Frank becoming our next manager.

This appointment will give the whole club a massive lift and unify our supporter base.

Frank starts work at Chels next week on a three year deal, worth 5.5 million a year, according to unsubstantiated gossip.

That’s not a bad screw.

No doubt he’s squirrelled away enough dough to the comfortable for the rest of his life.

Why he would wish to subject himself to the stress and rigour of football management is beyond me.

Perhaps a lifetime lounging around swimming pools with some occasional light punditry thrown in doesn’t float his boat?

I know what option I’d prefer.
